  1. Fish ranger still has all Powell Endurance and Max rods for 109.99 (60bucks off the endurance, 30bucks off the max) Lews TP can be had for 129.00 on ebay. (Retails for 199.99) 240.00+/- for an Endurance/ Lews Tourney pro combo that retails for 370.00 total is a no brainer.
  2. Everybody had good suggestions but I think you are on thr rright track. Some like spinnerbaits on fast reels, but i do not. I like them on a 6:1 I actually use the Powell 723Enurance for spinnerbaits, but my. Lews TP reel is a 6:1. But alot of guys are using mod action rods for spinner baits, a Powell Endurance 723cb, 724cb, or a Max 704cb (crankbait series) would all be good cranking / spinnerbait rods. That rod could cover spinnersbaits, chatterbaits, crankbaits, lipless cranks... If you dont plan on using really deep diving crankbaits or hard pulling lures, you could get away with a Lews 6:1. But a 5:1 is also a good choice. I like my Tourney Pro reels, but a Lews BB1 is a good choice.
  3. I had the same situation last year, the spinnerbait/chatterbait bite was on and i was missing 2 out of 3a fish. I didnt have any trailer hooks. After an hour of missing two thirds of my fish, i tied the War eagle spinner bait on a crankin rod with a moderate action...that helped my hook ups ALOT. I still use my xf rod for those baits but i keep trailer hooks now and im not affraid to switch to a cranking rod.
  4. I actually broke the tip off of my veritas cranking rod. While castinga and i called abu and complained and emphasized that i expected better quality from Abu Garcia. The lady was nice put in my claim, gave me pure fishings email address and told me what info and photos to send. I received an email within the hour and a new rod within 5 days. I would call them and let them know are still waiting and that your complaint was not even answered. Not long after i recieved my new veritas, i sold it to a buddy.... i like the rod, but not enough to spend alot of time worrying over it. Abu makes good equipment, but i really think they cut alot of corners with the Veritas.
  5. Yall make sure you say prayer for the Police Officer that lost his life in the firefight with the first suspect. Also say prayers and praises for the Law enforcement officers, federal agents, and all of the other officials that have been working countless hours to capture these men. As much as I would like to donate a bullet to the executionerr, guys are right, we will and should afford this demented evil creature due process of the law and all of the rights that his kind is trying to take from us. I hope lawenforcemnt can figure out why these devilish men did that horrible act and which group or groups they are with.
  6. I keep all my fishing stuff in my shop. As long as it is dry and out of direct sunlight it should be fine. Ive never had a problem with my reels or line after being stored in the shop.

    Jig Help

All of these guys hit the nail on the head. Im probably repeating what they said. A few things that will help: XF rod tip braided line and/or fluoro leaders mega strike attractant jj magic dye Craw/ grub trailers that have alot of arms and or water resistance Dont be affraid to lose a jig, its gonna take time to figure out the feeling a distingguish it. Throw it often.
  8. Mmmmmm i see we are going have to train you. Well youve come to the right place and we are glad to help and explain any way we can!! Sam is a member on this board, i believe he is in your area too. He is super knowledgable, im sure he will chime in at some point. Go to the articles section and read up seasonal behavior of bass and read up on rods, reels, line and lures...make sure to try to read some of the post on the boards. We get new guys everyday and they are asking the same questions that are probably running through your mind. Its a fast way to learn. I know my profile says NC, but im only 10 mins from VA and only about 90 mins from richmond.
  9. Wow... after seeing all that high end gear that some of you have, im wondering if im in the wrong line of work.
  10. Pond- 100+ Lake- Kerr Lake 6/27/2008 -49 for me and 64 for my partner. That was a day that i will never forget. And the weights were decent. There were more dinks than hogs but either of us would have weighed in 25+ lbs if it was a tourney day. My best day on the water ever. I remember the exact number because i was one shy of 50. Not bass but i remember a day back in 2006 on the Chesapeke bay when my old fishing partner (deseased now) and I caught almost 100 Flounder!! I think our total was 96 not sure tho. ..and thats a big deal, because ive had some very rough days out there flounder fishing and everything came together that day for us!
  11. Normally for me, when i start seeing 59 or 60a degrees. Down here, early may to mid may is a good start. There have been years when i couldnt get a top water bite till June..but that may have been the operator. I would tie one on and just check and see..but i wouldnt commit to it just yet unless yyou spend the day catching them on top.
  12. Everyday theres more and more hurt going around. The catastrrphic tragedies are becoming more and more common. Guys take a moment to examine your lives and your families. Spend time with your loved ones and do not take them for granted.
  13. This question should have been a Poll with two options: 1. zoom fluke, 2.everything else. Zoom fluke would win...hands down..
  14. I have buddy that has komodos and the new helios and he loves them. You can also find them pretty cheap on e bay. Im pretty content with my reels, but i wouldnt be affraid to try one. Okuma seems like a good manufactuer that backs it product. If you search the threads, some respected fisherman on this site either own one or have used one and for the most part they say positive things.
  15. I figured Dwight or Big O would be closer in the mix.... and before this thread, i didnt know we had anybody with a 14 plus much less a 19. I expected to see some major weights over 12 out of FL
  16. So far Tom (WRB) takes the cake!! Sweet fish
  17. POWELL 712s, Stradic Fj 2500 10lb Spiderwire, 6lb sniper FC Castaway Skeleton, 6'6"- Medium, F, Team Lews Pro, 12lbs Sniper FC Just got the team lews reel, i did have my old Citica on there.
  18. Normally during December, while they are out of season, they walk right out in front of my stand while im hunting and run out front of my truck on the way home. Durring the summer, they are walking down the highway like hitch hikers. Once turkey season comes around in April, I can not find them anywhere.
  19. IIm impartial to the Zillion. I onlyi have one. If i could get them for the price i pay for Lews TP or even what i just spent on my Team Lews, then i would. The coastal zillion would look great . The TD Z would look good too!! Glad you like your new rod. Ill be glad when im finacially able to make the switch to Loomis NrX or GLX.
  20. .223 is not a good round for deer hunting. Great for varmit hunting. If you have the cash, the .308 is a good way to go... but then its no longer the AR15, its the AR10. Both rounds are getting expensive and harder to find. I am an AR owner, and to be honest, id advise to get a nice Remmington 700 rifle or a browning. And if your really interested in home defense, an assault rifle isnt the best choice, shotgun or handgun. But if your dead set on an AR, Bushmaster, Rock River Arms, DPMS are where i would go. Consider what you would be doing with the rifle and let that help you decide which rifle or assecories you have. For example, for coyote or ground hot or varmit in general, id go .223, i would want to be able to mount a big honkin scope, so a flat top or a rail system is a must. I really would want a heavy bull barrel with some length on it. Just or you can just get a good base model and buy stuff as you go, i have three barrels for mine and two different stocks, and a myriad of rail accesories.
  21. 1) Bud light 2) Ford Trucks 3)Berkley 4)Lews 5)Strike King
  22. Skeet reese is a dang good fisherman. Alot of these guys could still out catch most average folks even if they were using "wal mart special" im guess prpbably uses the victory reels and rods.
