  1. Bartdude, exactly which rod are you using? Which line also?
  2. I would not attempt to fix or alter the rod. See what loomiis will do without the wildcard, if nothin or really expensive, then you need to use the wildcard. Thats what they are for.
  3. I said zillion then i bought the lews team pro. Im canging my answer. Team pro all day
  4. Young gun, if you can cough up another 50, fish ranger has the endurance for 109.00. I use the 714 and its awesome, slightly under powered, it says heavy powerand rod, but its more like a mag MH but i like that because i use braid and it compensates for the lack of stretch. Very sensitive rod also. I like the length too. I also have a the Endurance 725, i use it for frogs and heavy topwaters, but it is also an excellent jig rod. That rod is a hoss, a very very strong rod. I dont have any experience with the Diesels, just alot of good reviews.
  5. Dude go on ebay and get a team lews pro for 225. Thats the buy it now price, for a 300long dollar reel that to me feels like it should cost more thsn that. I can cast light jerk bait a mile with a 6'6" M rod. The Lews Team Gold can be had for 193. (Thats the buy it now price)is retail is 239
  6. I have my cent set with 2 brakes, and my mag brakes set on 2-5 (normally 2 unless its windy) and can cast a 3/16 with a hollow body swimmer almost 35 yards consistantly. I can do the same with 1/4 texas rigs. Rod being used is a Powell 723Endurance with 30lba braid
  7. Get a few drinks in ya, you will say it again....and you probably have said it before.
  8. PPowell Diesel Rod 49.00 7'MH on fish ranger
  9. What do you mean limited,?? i was just on the fish ranger, they have almost all of the Endurance and Max available.(i casting, spinning, flipping, cranking and swimbait rods) If your saying that the Powell Line up is limited, then im affraid i have to disagree with you.EDIT: i just double check fish ranger and it appears that they have EVERY ROD made by powell available and on sale except for 1 from the endurance casting line up and that one is the 8'MH, (the average guy isnt gonna miss that one) Done with rant.
  10. Hook size varies for me depending on lure. Anywhere from 1/0 to 4/0. My setup varies but the following is my average. 50lbs braid, 3/4 oz tungsten barrell, 2ft leader of 12 lb Sunline SNIPER, 3/0 worm hook with zoom trick worm, or 7inch robo worm. If im trying to keep my lure up and floating, ill switch to 15+ mono This is a good set up, but take it with a grain of salt. Other than my crankin/topwater rods, i use braid and i mainly use two sizes, 30 and 50, one of my flipping sticks doubles as a c rig rod. This is convienent for me and it is still a good set up. I like the length of the flipping stick to really get a long cast with my c rigs.
  11. Hey if you can squeeze blood out of a turnip, go to the fish ranger, Powell Endurance and Max rods are on sale for 109.00. You wont be sorry
  12. I dont really know what to tell ya. Ive have 5 TPs and never had a BIG issue. I only has that problem due to being overlubed, but I quickly remedied that. But if they dont refund you, PM, ill take it off your hands if the price is right.
  13. Did u catch any fish while you were napping?
  14. Hijack alert rather. Good you are back
  15. Hijack!!! DUDE WELCOME BACK!!
  16. Today i am much better at catching numbers than i was 12 years ago. It was a challenge to catch eight or more fish on a given day. Now days after much more time fishing ,reading, researching, and changing my approach it comes easier. Over the past few years, ive tweaked my approach from targeting as many fish as possible to targeting bigger bites. Im no professional, but I like to think that i can succesfully go after a bigger bite and get at least one on a given day. So thats what i try to do. But ill still fish a pattern conducive to putting fish in the boat.
  17. Some heads are better than others, but that is on of those things that comes with time.
  18. Excedrine Migraine
  19. Sunline sniper is pretty easy to get along with. They say Shooter is even better, but i havent tried. Besides, other than cranking rods and one worm rod, im pretty much all braid now. Not a fluoro, but i recently bought a spool on Yo zuri hybrid and decided to test it out on one of my wifes spinning rods, and i love it. Soft, limp, easy to cast.
  20. Mine says Javelin...it needs to say "lead sled"
  21. In it or over it. Top water lures that are weedless, hollow frogs, plastic toads, maybe a buzz bait. In it. - get a heavy tungsten weight at least an ounce, or and ounce and a quarter, and a soft plastic bait that is texas rigged to be weedless. Pitch it up there and let it fall, ur may have to jiggle it a little if it is really thick. Punch skirts are optional, but i like em. Either way, i would make sure that both my topwater rod and my punching rods are stout (heavy action or up) and fast reel loaded with braid. You said the water is clear, so you can use a fluoro leader, but make it at lleast 20# test, if not 25.
  22. Jackall Crosstail shad is my most productive. Close seconds are the robo worm, tiny fluke, and tiny brush hog.
  23. I use a Powell Endurance 712 with the 10lb braid and 6-8 leaders. (I dont fish for smallies, not many smallies here) love this rod. Powell did not make this rod as a drop shot specific rod, but i did, and i absolutely love it, light and sensitive. I have it paired with a Stradic Fj All of the brands you listed are fantastic rod builders. If money was not a variable, I personally would shoot for the G Loomis NRX 822DSR. Alot of the brands you mentioned make Drop shop specific rods that will have line and lure ratings that your set up will fall into.
