  1. Want to hear God laugh,.....tell em your plan. I've found that my plan and Gods plan for me were two different things. Looking backing, I'm glad that he has a better plan than I do....wouldn't change too much
  2. Prayers to AP and his family. Forget about football and think of a man losing his two year old son to a violent on home domestic attack. My heart goes out to him.
  3. I would let my son play football. What he would gain from playing and particpatong far outgains the risk. I a. Actually more scared now wwith him playing soccer.
  4. I was really starting to get used to things there....it was a bit of a shock...but all and all its ok so far... im guessing trouble isnt far.
  5. De Colores!! It was an awesome experience
  6. Im super excited to be sponsered and sent on thhe Emmaus. Better than a fishing trip anyday! Say a few prayers for me. Anybody else here ever been to Emmmaus before? If you dont know what it is, look it up... super excited
  7. Sorry for the bad experience. Sounds like a very pushy sale.
  8. KERR LAKE NORMAN Gaston Wylie
  9. Im gonna take your wifes side on this one. Take the adult swimming lessons. Nothing to be embaressed about. If you can affford a boat, you can afford to learn how to swim. Wearing a PFD is a good idea no matter your skill level. A boaters training course is also my advice if you havent "run" a boat much. Riding and watching doesnt count. As Catt said, there have been many skilled swimmers to drown...so knowing how to swim and wearing a PFD are very important.
  10. Thanks Nitro, I'm going to be up your way alot this winter with work. Maybe we can get some cold weather fishing in...or a couple of beers.
  11. While i do see that you are not in the throw away society, i still beleive that this is not the answer for this particular case. I have no problem with an owner dispatching an animal or a pet for the animals own good if death or suffering is iminent, as I have done so...many times. As recently as a year ago i put down four puppies that had advanced parvo (with a .22) In this particular case, I took exception to it because we dont even know the faacts of the case yet and there was your response. As far as we know we are only talking about gettting an X Ray. As for dogs as family pets or parts of the family, i will respectfully disagree. I refuse to spend thousands as some would, but 200 bucks for an X ray is a reasonable. I have found myself in the situation where i can spend 3600$ on a surgery for a dog ive had for 9 years or put it down, you can guess which route i chose, MCS, i guess i just took offense to how quickly to jumped to "put the dog down" rather than take the dog to the vet and see what the problem really is and the look at options to solve it. MCS, i have been reading your posts and comments for a good while and i do respect yyour opinions and I do not think ill of you, i guess it caught me the wrong way.
  12. Seriously dude...that's your response? Smh. That's about as mean as it gets. But what do I expect, we are in a "throw away" society. ...truck breaks down, easy get a new one. Marriage gets tough, g Get a divorce. School or college gets hard, drop the class or drop out. Work gets tough, quit. Dog gets seriously injured, or in this case, has the POSSIBILITY, of being injured, kill it and buy a new family pet. MCS, I seriously hope you were being facetious...otherwise that's about as mean and cruel as it gets. When an owner decides to take in an animal it is for thick and thin and for care for the dog, not until is costs a little money, you should be ashamed to even have wrote that. Where's your heart dude...I hope it's not in your wallet That's all.
  13. At your age and probable skill level, I would keep it simple and keep the cost down. Look for used rods and reels and save ALOT of your existing money. 3 or 4 combos are more than sufficient. I would suggestt buying lower cost / modest equipment for now. Personally, i would take 750.00 of your total amount of your money and put it in the bank and forget about it. That leaves room for 3-200$ combos (100 on the rod, and 100 on the reel) and then you have 150 bucks left over for lures, line, and other tackle. For me that is a great start. I stated to look for used equipement, but even at the 100 dollar price point you can get some darn good rods and reels brand new. About the money i told you to bank, get some time on the water in and decide if you want to continue to invest lots of money in fishing. Ebay and the flea market are great resources. To buy used equipment.
  14. When you thread the soft plastic on, you should bring the hook all the way through the lure, and then use the point of the hook to go under a very thing section of the plastic so that you can use your finger to push down on the bait and the hook will come through. That is skin hooking. Ive used the smash tubes and i have zero problems. I do have other tubes that i like better tho.
  15. Id like a refund on the 24 seconds of my life that i just lost.
  16. TAKE THE DOG TO THE VET!!
  17. Its a personal preference and it boils down to what you are comfortable with and if you do choose the leader; make dang sure your joining knot is secure. Personally I use braid with almost everything except cranking, topwater, and jerks. I also use a FC leader wwithan Alberto knot. That said, this time of year when the vegetaion gets thick, ill forget the leader.
  18. For what you want, both will be fine. Id probably lean toward the 7mm. Im a 300win mag myself..
  19. I sayy the above, not to discourage the 45... i am a 1911 fanatic...and love a 45... but 9mm is no slouch.
  20. It really comes down to budget and what you are comfortable with and how you plan on concealing it. Yes, the 45 is a larger pill and has what I call more knock down power. But a good hollow point round like the SPEER GOLD DOT JACKETED HOLLOW POINT in the hands of a skilled shooter in 9mm is a one shot kinda deal. Seems like alot of questions need to be answered, but i wouldnt automatically choose a 45 over a 9mm just for the knock down power. I have a sub compact 9mm and I absolutley love it, and if you think I cant. "Neutralize a threat" with one shot, you have another thing coming. ....and honestly, If im in a situation where i feel deadly force is authorized, im going to empty the magazine (or cylinder) anyway.
  21. Ive done pretty well with the Paca craws and such on naked jig heads.
  22. Powell 723 with 30lb braid. Its a 7'2" MH but I think it feels more like a mag medium... it loads pretty well wwith a weightless fluke. I also use my "dock skippin" rod for flukes, a 6'8" M/F Castaway rod. It loads up and skips them well.
  23. Im sorry guys but i am out too. Work has me out of town that week and weekend. Different case for me, funds are there, but thats all thats there...im hardly ever home, ive been reading this thread from Hotel rooms.
