  1. Good stuff snook, for the amount of time, fish, and harsh enviroment that u Put them through ...you've def got your money's worth...
  2. Ham in a can
  3. That's one reason I've never looked into buying one
  4. Sounds like there's a few guys on here that could use a Snickers bar.
  5. They said 10 -12 weeks before he could PUT WEIGHT on it
  6. A few buddies that I play softball with have decided to have seafood this year. Crawfish and Sausage boil, oysters, bbq shrimp and heard rumor of some stuffed flounder and crab cakes! I'm sure we will be able to make a few dollars off of aluminum cans at the recycling center on the following monday also...
  7. That's horrible, on the bright side(if there is one) he will have plenty of time with his family and to sit back and do a lot of mental and gear preparation around the house until he can go fishing again. I'm glad they are letting him fish in the 2015 classic
  8. I read where RW and Francho and several members talked about this last year and I tried it and I definitely found it worth the couple of hours it took to adust all of my reels. Now I know what 3 and 4 lbs feels like and it is amazing how little drag you need. I seldom adust on the fly when a fish is on now. That said, on a couple rods and reels o have the drag nearly locked down but that is generally in super thick cover. As for line on a cranking rod, it depends, I like a heavier fluoro for one of my reels for shallow cranks, rattle traps, and some wake baits. 16 lb sniper But for my general purpose cranking rods I use 10 lb Sniper. On jerkbaits and topwaters I still like mono.. 10 lb sunline super natural Those line are good for the lakes I fish, you need to access what you are comfortable casting and what type of cover if any you will be cranking through.
  9. I think I've went through phases of most of those stereo types. Never really been the rage monster... Maybe a dialed down ike.
  10. Good advice here. Whole heartedly agree with WW2 and Ripin Lips. You have a few months till summer, can you save a few bucks here and there and up you budget? While I agree with those guys, I feel for another 75 bucks or so you can a much nicer rod with better components
  11. Its give and take, you should get exceptional line visibility on your end but also on the fishes end. Like other guys said, if you want it use a leader. It depends what is important to you
  12. 357 mag S&W air weight. Stays in the work truck. Ccw licensed Weapons are like tools, its better to have it and not need it than to need it and not have it. I also have several compact ans subcompact semi autos, I.e. Springfield xd, and S&W m&p.. but typically I don't carry them with me. I just like the 357, it idiot proof and I'm comfortable with it. I travel a lot with work and it nice to have one.
  13. Mine typically stays in the truck while out fishin . I have an otterbox, but only because lifeproof doesn't make a case for the HTC phones.
  14. I don't think in my case I was being shot AT but it was so close I couldn't tell the difference. Its happened twice On another occasion a storm was coming... I was running down the lake as fast as I could go...water was white capping and tossing my boat around like a rag doll....I was about to pass a point that comes out a long ways toward the main lake...there was a single pine tree on the end of the point.... You guessed it, lightning struck it about as I passing it.... It was about a hundred yards away from me to my right... It scared the skittles out of me..
  15. 5/0 hooks. To the O.P. why not have both tied on ans switch as you see fit.
  16. I have more than a dozen Powell rods now... I havent used the Powell Max 735, that you are refering to, but I do use the Powell Endurance 725, its basically the Endurance version... Its an excellent rod. I like he super soft tip. It makes tossing hollow frogs easy. The rod is also powerful... Very powerful. I also use it to throw various heavy top water lures and wake baits. When the jig bite is on ill tie a jig on this rod and keep it on the deck with my jig rods. It is a very sensitive rod and like I said above it has power for days to pull fish out of the nastiest junk. Fish ranger has then for 149. Good luck
  17. I agree. I agree. I agree. !!!!! Every point you made, you nailed it My dad used to say if it has fur, feathers or fins....then we eat it
  18. I'm not crazy about alot of their hard lures. I've tried a few of the square bills and top water walkers and I was not at all impresses. Now some of their soft plastics on the other hand, have done well for me. Their Stick O and their take on horny toad is pretty dang good. Their finess worms are ok too! Nothing against BPS, I just enjoyb the trusted quality of some of the lure manufacturers that make it their business to nothing but produce hard lures. Lucky Craft, Rapala, Smithwick, Spro, Norman, Bandit, and Strike king are kinda what I stick to. And some of those brands aren't perfect either...it is what it is...
  19. Omg! I've seen them in the Chesapeake bay around buoys and have targeted them with bucktails and or fly rods ect...I've caugh my fair share Simply put, I'm no stranger to cobia, but if I came across one that big I would probably poop on my self.
  20. Yeah.... Right..... Seriously that was my response when I saw the thread. Shimanp oil is what I use.
  21. I typically catch and release, however I will keep them from time when I know I'm gonna cook them that night or that weekend. If the crappie or white perch bite is on, ill target them first. I also like to eat stripers.. it all depends on what I can catch the easier that day and what I am set up for They are few down here, but I have a few spots that ill normally go to first with life shad in hopes of bringing in a waleye. My goodness they are yummy
  22. Superbowl comes but once a year. I can fish any other day...or night. And whenever my beloved Panthers ever make the big dance again, its an absolute yes, I won't be anywhere else but on my couch watching the game... Hell Ill probably be watching the full day of pre game.
  23. Dream rod? Can't I be content with what I have? But ill bite, I guess its a dream come true, because I intend to order a NRX 894c. And I already have Team Lews Pro, I'm gonna put on it. If I was made outta money I could see putting a tricked out zillion R or a steez
  24. Being as impartial as possible, I really think that Denver is gonna win this one going way. Seattle's Defense is amazing but Denver has too many weapons for that awesome secondary. I'm with RW as far as a lop sides score. Denver wins 38-17
  25. If the total cost difference is only 100 bucks, why not find a reputable guide and let him introduce you to the lake. So your next trip you will be pretty equipped mentally for that Lake then renting a boat would be ideal. But renting a boat and going for it is ok too.
