  1. See, I knew you the man for his question! Good stuff on the product... I might try it
  2. That's the question. I know we all fish, but do any of you guys make time for other sports? I play softball 7 months of the year and play basketball with my church men's team. I havent play golf in a while, but I will every once in a while.
  3. How do u know? When you sit down and seriously complemplate wheather to use your saved money for a new shallow water anchor AND two new HDS units OR Building your wife her dream kitchen ( new flooring, cabinets, countertops, refridgerator, and including taking down a wall to increase size of dining room). I've been brewing on this one for two weeks....
  4. Welcome.
  5. .It wasn't that hard for me. I try not answer these questions unless it is clear to me, because things do change and I do grow as a fisherman. But this one was easy, these are usually all I have tied on during this tim.e of year. There are others that ill try and I do catch fish on but I was going tmw, i would make sure I would have the listed baits tied on...history has shown I have done my best with those 4 or five baits during that time of year which is pre spawn here... Which has been known to give me fits.
  6. 1/2 ounce jig LC pointer 100 Rage Craws GYCB Senko # 5 is a toss up between a shad rap, lipless crank and squarebill, I can't decide. That's for a pre spawn bite... It changes after that.
  7. Its all good brother. I'm just picking at you. It does show your commitment to detail to ask a BR brother to do that and our close brotherhood for him to do it. I wish I had your discipline when it comes to little details.
  8. Hahaha! This guy! Good stuff Adam! That made me smile
  9. Yes. Absolutely. Its lighter and a more sensitive. Both are well made rods. Why drive a ford ranger when u can upgrade to a F150 for what amounts to 20 or 30 bucks. I've had two Max rods. The 7105 flipping rod and the 766 flip rod. I bought a 775 endurance and the difference was huge. And have since sold both of the max rods and bought a 764 endurance. I know this isn't the two rods in question but it is a max to Endurance cpmparison.
  10. I kill weeds and trees... Correction, I supervise others that kill trees and weeds
  11. Why not go for a 7' Heavy action rod. This would give you a good all around rod for jigs, frogs, heavy t rigs, heavy top waters and would still be able to "punch". I say 7' ranther than 7.5+ or 8' because it is a much more versatile length. Especially for jigs and frogs. I would be hesitant to get a rod for something I don't do much of, thereby abandoning an opportunity to get a high end rod for what you do the most of. A lot of guys use shorter rods for punching. And besides you can use what you have for now with senkos and flukes. Use this rod for a while, and you can see weather getti g a rod spexically for punching is needed or if you need to go another direction. The dobyns 705 or 735 would fit the bill for now.
  12. One of my best friends and mentors, is a jerkbait beast. He showed me a lot of ins and outs of using the lure efficiently. I was intimidated by them before. He also showed how to pattern fish and quick searching methods before I refine my pattern. I have several fishing buddy's that I helped teach to skip baits all the way under lower boat docks with a baitcastr. I love fishing with different people, you are going to learn something...weather its what to do or what not to do
  13. HanoverYakker uses a lot of Power team lures, maybe he will chime in
  14. I use 30 # on a few of mine. No trouble. But I do rake special care to ease the drag back just a hair more than what I set them at. I do this to try to keep it from digging on a hook set. I've been doing it long enough now that its not a bother. I would not go any lower tho.
  15. Good stuff. Very informative
  16. I was able to see what the tapers wrre, by going to Rons website, he actually has the taper listed... That's better that tw they don't tell u anything
  17. As usual, Tom is a pretty hard act to follow. Good stuff Tom
  18. Too many to list. I've met a handful of them and I lreally like them all.
  19. I'm pretty sure its not comfortable, but I hardly think it injures the fish. I'm not a thrower, I'm more of a " dropping it in the water"
  20. And Rip is correct
  21. Hey Pig check your PMs
  22. Good stuff man. Those old bantam Curados are awesome reels and have stood the test of time. Glad you got a nice fish on the test run
  23. Guys did a good job of talking about hookset mechanics. But want to touch on something that helped me out tremendously on the gear selection side of things. I too do a lot of deep work, working jigs and c rigs along ledges and channels, especially this time of year. I feel like a rod of 7.5' helps a lot in those situations picking line up and gaining momentum for a good hook up. Make sure your hooks and line match up. Lighter wire hooks need a lighter line. Super line hooks or Big O jigs need a heavy low stretch line like 20+ flouro or 40+ braid. A heavy low stretch line with bend a light hook. A light line will not allow a heavy hook to penetrate. Make sure your drag is set correctly. Make sure to match up the rod with the task, there's nothing wrong with using a heavier rod when you are fishing a 40+ fow.
  24. If you ever head south towards Kerr or Gaston, give me a week or so notice, I've been pretty good for meeting BR members out there!
