  1. Less line stretch. Line is more dense, excellent abrasive resistance, line sinks ( could be a plus depending on what u want), excellent slack line sensitivity.
  2. Although low profile reels are the norm now for bass fishing now, a lot of angler stil use round reels for bass. We have several members on this site that have a dozen or more specifically for bass fishing. I see more or less of the round reels in use for swimbait and umbrella rigs and some deep cranking rods. The advantage is line capacity. The fall off from where round reels where 30 years ago is due to the reduction in weight and palm ability. For my striper, catfish and flounder rigs, I use round reels.
  3. 27 a gal isn't bad. If you like it stick with it unless you find another leading synthetic oil cheaper. I'm running amsoil synthetic HP and I pay around 33.00 per gal.
  4. Sorry to hear Kent. My condolences. Fishing buddies like that are one in a million and you were blessed to have a pal like that.
  5. A long cast for me means casting at either max distance for from a much longer than normal distance to target or a targeted area. I don't really want to put a number on it, but 40 yards or so is pretty far and is in the area of a long cast for me. I don't need to cast a mile, just far enough to get a deep crank in the srike zone or to cover enough ground with a lure to pin point where I need to be. Really anything over 25-30 yards is a long cast for me
  6. I have. Now I'm too lazy. I'm of the mind set now to leave the pastics in the package until time to use them.
  7. Does not effect anything. I don't do it all the time but I have... And it doesnt really change anyrhing
  8. If your caught between those three, its really not a bad placento be caught. All good choices. My wife has two avid pearls and I have 12 endurances ans 1 DX and I love them all. endurance for 150 and I have a lot of confidence in those rods.
  9. Haha ....thats a joke.
  10. 7'MH fast action
  11. Haha so depressing. I think ill drink a 40 now
  12. Stradic on the auction site. That's where mine come from.
  13. 5-7 lb bass are caught in Kerr and Gaston all the time.. still. A good catch. But 5-7 is pretty common. Ive pulled a 8lber and several 7s out of Kerr summer of 2012
  14. Love the war eagle screaming eagle.. hard to beat
  15. I've been outside working and sweating all morn here in Northern NC.
  16. Wow.... Really don't know what to say to that.
  17. I forgot to mention being a line watcher. I do this
  18. Exactly. I agree with everything! I even use the same line sizes
  19. I have a Castaway rod that used to be 6'8.... Its 6'5ish now. After the tip was broken off when I close the live well on it. Its great little rod... Ill use it around really low or tight docks. I can skip a 1/4oz jig a mile under a dock with that thing! Most of my rods now are 7' ish except for my topwater/jerkbait rod. Its 6'6.
  20. Im not prepared to say that any one presentation would require more sensitivity than the next. But I will second WW2 when I say that a 400+ rod isn't required to acheive the sensitivity to catch a bass with a bottom contact presentation. Is there a difference between jig fishing with a Champ rod versus a Lightning Shock rod, certainly there is... But once you get to a certain level, I feel that comparing sensitivity is like splitting hairs. It kills me when I see guys comparing sensitivity in two rods that exceed the 350-400 mark. Like the threads comparing the Dx to the GLX, NRX, MegaBass, Legend Xtreme... At that point sensitivity is the last thing I would compare... Because they are all sensitive rods..they all will most certainly aid on catching fish. Little bit of a rant that got off track.. sometimes I really think that sensitivity is over rated. ( is say that, but I am spoiled by Powell and a new Dx). There are few things that will aid in sensitivity and will result in more fish for bottom contact presentations, whether you are fishing a Vengeance Rod or a NRX. Correct line selection - braid is great and helps a ton for sensitivity, but if you are using slack like presentations that require the lure to freefall, I prefer a floro Tungsten weights- more dense Paying attention - focusing ans mentally pictuing what your are feeling as you hop a jig or pull a lure through grass will result in more bites DETECTED. EXPERIENCE- this one is huge, the more a guy practices, focuses, and fishes the more cognizant he is going to be to detecting bites in what ever water or cover. Sorry for the long rant
  21. I just check out their website. Seems promising.
  22. What ever you do, don't throw a watermelon red 5" on a Carolina rig. It doesn't work. ;-) For real tho, its a great lure. They work as well for me on a c rigs the do pitching it weighless. When the bite is tuff, ill go down to a 3"
  23. Good job dude
