  1. I'm with Tom, if it were me, keep the short rod and air it with the shimano. If you keep the 7-5 my c.f. Id put that rocket on it and use it for closer quarters pitching/flipping stick or maybe for long casting football jig/ big worms/ c rigs or maybe big spoons. That rocket is a little fast for me, for long casting and dragging you would have to slow it down but I'm sure you can make it work. If you can't use the cranking rod, sell it and pick up some all around sticks
  2. It's not something I've done alot, but I have been known to "bubba shot" on certain parts of the lake here where the lynmbea and algae is out of control. I've have some success with it but it not much.
  3. Perch or a shad colored squarebill should be in everyone's go to box. Typically late in the fall I'll up the size and start throwing the really big square bills.
  4. Gorgeous fish. Congrats. She was FAT
  5. If he can stay healthy, I think Tua can be the best QB of this class. if hes there Miami should take him.
  6. Came in today. I like the small size. Now to spool it up andslide one on one of my existing rods and take the kids down to the river and try it out. Will report back later. So far, I think I got a steal for 55 bucks each.
  7. Two more days till the draft! What does your team need? I'm a panthers fan, really hoping we can get Isaiah Simmons I doubt he makes it to 7
  8. I have had a little buyer remorse in the past, but mainly because the rod or the operator didnt perform well at what I had in mind. I remember about 15 years ago i bought a BPS Rick Clunn power stick ( the old purple ones) it was a 7,0 heavy. I was thinking it was gonna be the best frog rod, maybe a great heavy spinner bait rod. It was hard to pitch and thing under 3/8. It was horrible at those things... it simply didnt have the tip. Months later I was fishing and I was on a once and a life time bite, the bass were backed up in the water willow and milfoil. And they were blowing up right at the edge of them. As the after noon went on, they bite turned very slow, on accident I overcasted and went back into the thick milfoil I got hung up in it and when I ripped the bait to get it loose, it fell deep, and the snack .. long story short i found that they were way back in there and back then i didnt have a heavy flipping stick, i tied on a heavy bullet weight and put it on the Rick clunn rod and I found that it was great as a pitching stick or for punching the heavy grass. It was short enough that i can pitch it accurately. That was a long time ago, I still have that rod and I still use it.
  9. Great job Daniel. Watching you work is my new favorite show. You are a true craftsman.
  10. I would go with a MH at the bare minimum. Even without heavy cover or dense vegetation. You are going to need a strong hook set. I use a heavy.
  11. Exactly! Fishing in the back of the boat made me a more adaptable fisherman. I love how Glenn's first point was to be observant.
  12. Yes. You want your bait to live as long as possible. Most of the time wheather its minnow, shad, or whatever else I like to fish them alive and I'll use bait holder hooks and nose hook em and let em swim
  13. Thanks man, I'm pretty set on cranking rods... I'm really keeping an open mind on what to use them for. It may very well be buying actions that I can use for a multitude of things.
  14. Awesome video. Very well done! And how about that Hawg! GO KERI
  15. Yes, I found it for 119. Just wish they had in in split grip. Lol. That sounds picky.
  16. Hey guys, the bait monkey recently got me pretty good. I picked up 3 of the Origin C feels for half price. Now im looking for new rods to put them on. the guys on here who remwmber me know that I was an.avid Powell rod guy, and honestly in not.super impressed with the.new max rods, so I'm just looking at others to add unless I can get some old ones. ..and I used a buddy's tatula rod several years ago and.even.compared to my.old endurance s, they were flat out good. I've looked around on Tw and on Td and and.I'm really interested in the Daiwa Tatula. I have found them a little cheaper on other sites too. My main question is, what's the real world difference in the xt and the slightly.more expensive Tatula with the.cork handles? I'm trying to keep the bait monkey under 125 a rod and.can get.all 3 I also saw on tw, viper rods almost half off, any body here with experience with those.. Any info would help Teal
  17. I binged it all last night .. wow. Every time you turn around it gets more and more twisted.
  18. That's an awesome day!
  19. All good points, im almost 38, and I'm already beginning to feel the aches and pains of transitioning in to my 40s. I dont fish everyday any more. Heck in my 20s I would fish everyday and if I didnt have to work I'd fish all day. It didnt bother me then, but now I feel it In my joints and in my stamina in general. I find myself sitting or leaning more. These days I value a comfortable pair of tennis shoes or boots alot more. I dont know if theres a regimen for fishermen but im almost positive that fishermen that take care of them selves a little better will have a better quality of life in general. Now since you are studying this, maybe it would be a good idea to reach out to some of the top anglers (of different ages and see what their thoughts are) it would make for an interesting read.
  20. I used to be on the spider wire bandwagon, tho my fishing has been limited the past 6 years, I respooled my rods with power pro, because it was cheap and available. I have had no issues with it, actually less issues with it than the high end spiderwire When I re up I'm gonna buy try Smackdown.
  21. Mine is 19'10 on a single
  22. I'm not an experide user, so I have no clue about the tolerances of a mh versus a heavy. ( guys who own them can tell you more about how the tip reacts). But to the comment about a using a heavy versus a MH for a 3/8 jig and and trailer or craw could come down to the cover that you fish it in and ther eother applications that you want to use the rod for.
  23. I have a small compartment just for tools that I keep a small tool bag in. It has screw drivers, a couple adjustable wrenches, extra needle nose pliers, slip joint pliers, scissors, and nail clippers and such. I have a spare trolling motor cord, fuses, relays, a can of ether, and a unopened package of bungee straps and ratchet straps. I also have a old box of bandaid and some duck tape. In the front of boat I have small compartment in front deck that I keep rhe bare minimum : pliers, clippers, and a box cutter in. But like others said I normal carry a knife or box cutter on my person anyway. I would suggest the same bare minimum for back packers and pond hoppers
  24. Maybe not cheap, but rage craws flat out catch fish. Is that a bargain? Paca craws work pretty good too and cost less.
