  1. So you are right at 1/2 oz at 14 grams and 17gramsput you at .6oz. I think you will be ok with a Med and a fast action if you are not in thick cover but a MH and a fast action would be best in this case for all purposes. If you are in or around thick grass or brush, dont be afraid to tie the half oz swimmer on a heavy action rod. I do this sometimes. Most of the time I use a Powell 723. Which is a 7 2 mh extra fast. (Its more like a mag medium tho) You say soft tip, alot of rods today have a soft tip but still maintain a fast action. I like rods with a soft tip more or less for casting purposes. I personally wouldn't use a moderate action rod, you are gonna want a faster action to be able set that thick hook. As far a line, yes...FC would be great. Depending on what cover you are throwing to, a 12 to 16lb test in a good FC like Sunline or Seaguar would be good. I like the FC on moving baits, it has a little less stretch and is more incognito than mono. You can even use braid to FC leader of you want. That's what I do alot.
  2. I carry a folding box cutter I got from lowes. I have several knives both fixed and folding at home
  3. That's not funny... but I'm laughing so hard. It almost seem like the good reacted anytime he said something negative about the goose. I like the part when he said" what did I do to you"? And the goose just hissed..
  4. I've hooked a bat (a couple of times) throwing topwater bait while night fishing. Bats are bad about that down here,
  5. CRANKING, lipless cranks, big topwaters, chatterbaits and swing head jigs. Maybe even small or light Alabama Rigs.
  6. Oh yeah...I gotcha. I use my jerkbait rods for a lot of things other than jerkbaits, but a jerkbait is also part of what I do well
  7. Good video Glenn. One thing to add, KEEP YOUR HOOKS SHARP OR REPLACE THEM. I like keeping a hook sharpener in my shirt pocket to touch them up
  8. I liked his list. The only one in would add is a jerkbait rod. Doesnt have to be jerkbait specific, but a rod that can cover that and alot of lighter baits.
  9. I have several Rage craw Rage menace Pit boss Sweet beaver Net bait paca craw/chunk Rage lobster Rage toad is deadly too and skips like a dream
  10. There's got to be a better way to do that. Too much hardware. But hey, if it works, use it. Let us know if it works.
  11. I pretty much stick to the basics. However black and red and occochobee craw patterns are underrated. Plain black doesnt get enough attention either Not a color but I don't believe living rubber gets alot of love.... very under rated.
  12. My experience is yes! I've done better with red shad colored worms and black and red jigs...
  13. Well go ahead and practice the argument... You are probably gonna have a wife some day. So go ahead and get good at this now.
  14. Here's a novel idea, why not get 2 rods. The daiwa aird rods are great for 59 bucks and can be found for 50. Get the 7'0 heavy for frogs, then get you a good CRANKING stick with the remaining 100 bucks. I think the Lews CRANKING stick sells for 50 bucks. Then down the road once you get a job and some money, you can upgrade rods one at a time. I wouldn't worry about sensitivity with those applications anyway. Good luck
  15. Recreational boats and jet skis are annoying to me
  16. If I had to do it with one it would be a medium heavy. I choose not to do it with one tho. Several of my rods help cover the top water bite, from medium spinning rod all the way to XH casting gear.
  17. None. I may have had an eye stepped on, but ultimately, it is my equipment and my responsibility.
  18. Yes I do. Just check your line alot. Rocks and shell will add abrasion to the line. It's not s big issue for me , but I am a line checker. Maybe not every cast but after every fish and hang up.
  19. Come on man, I'm already half way through the first pot of Black rifle coffee. Really been upping my rod game for the past 2 months, with a custom Judge Rod, from Mike, a Loomis Conquest jig rod and this rod... I've mentioned before that I'm getting ready to start tournament fishing again this year.
  20. I have to work sunday evening since I'm on second shift now, so probably leftovers for me. However, I'm gonna make sure the fiance and kids have a good spread before I leave at 230.
  21. No. Lol. I bought the new MegaBass Levante Jerkbait special rod since they are finally in stock. I dont feel like waiting another month or 2 and an extra 100 bucks for the Orochi XX version. I'm pretty excited to try out these new levante. Ben from the Hook up, raves about them. Its gonna be both a top water and jerkbait rod for me... if I like it I may get a second one or even get the Orochi Version when they are available.
  22. Congrats andy! You deserve it. That truck will serve you well on trips to Menderchuck.
  23. Gonna dive down the rabbit hole and check their stuff out.
