  1. Roger, I sure miss hearing from Snook on here and seeing his daily catches and reading his stories. That guy is a true fisherman. I sure hope he is doing ok.
  2. It would probably work just fine as long as the cover isn't too horrible. If I can access the lake tmw, I'll experiwmnt ... But I like a 7foot and some change Heavy, fast or xf. Powell 735 is what I use.
  3. Haven't used it for frogging I have a rod for that. I prefer a fast or extra fast action for top water frogs. You need it both to walk it and to drive those big hooks home slower action rods were never meant for getting the hook set, only for keeping fish on with treble hooks when you go to set the hook on a frog blow up, the timing is YOURS, when u slam that hook homw, you want that rod to flex pretty quickly, to get into the backbone and drive that hook home. From there it's about getting the fish in.. I think the rod industry has confused the vast majority so bad so they can just sell more rods.
  4. Sweet looking rig man! With water levels higher than they been in a couple years and this cool front and rain, this power fisherman is gonna have to break out the pixy liberto ( yellow with purple accents) on a powell endurance 683, that's if the ramp is even safe to use. Insane looking set up. Gonna be a finesse kinda time. I'll post a pic of it if I get out to the shop tonight. I looooooove this. Just showed it to my son, now he wants one just for the colors.
  5. I've always did my own, it really got good at cutting hair when I was traveling for a living and i would cut hair for guys under me at the hotel for a 6 pack or a small fee. I also learned alot on youtube. I have several hundred dollars invested in different trimmers, clippers, scissors, etc. I enjoy it alot.
  6. Good thing I know how to cut hair. Giving a few hair cuts on the back porch has fed the bait monkey. Only thing is, I hate hanging an extra mirror in the bath room to cut mine. I just buzzed mine off for the first time in 8 years. Feels funny.
  7. I didnt know you knew my stats. Lol
  8. Why did I just read that and visualize that squirrel from the ice age movies.. that's crazy
  9. No exchange necessary. I'll even waive the fishing lure adoption fee, re homing fee, and storage fee.?? On a serious note, if he gets a 130 he doesnt like it and feels bad about spending 13 bucks on it, as long as it not damaged I'll surely buy it. Those things are worth every penny.
  10. @Boomstick crazy enough, the girl on the jetski is not and old story, that was just last Saturday on Lake Gaston in NC. No sooner than we got to the marina it happened. I think alcohol was a factor.
  11. My son is 10 (he will be in June 19)and has been fishing with me since he was able to stand and walk. I've never been much of a bream fisher, or bobber fisherman, so it's cool that he experienced the disappointments that go with bass fishing because with those come the super highs when we get on a pattern or when he makes the perfect pitch to the right spot or sets the hook and gets the bass in what I call "center mass" (square in the roof of the mouth). Its definitely been an adventure. I rarely fish alone anymore, I spend a good amount of time getting him unhung or out of a tree, but it's not as bad as what it was.. I was also blessed years ago with a young man from church that I was able to help and get into fishing...he didnt have a father in his life andI took up alot of time with him and helped him get his first two jobs and turned him into a tackle junkie (he is all up in the JDM stuff now, way outta my league) he is 22 or 23 now and fishes with me whenever he is home ( hes in the navy) he calls ever fathers day (makes me cry) and thanks me and baits me into going to bass pro with him. Bass fishing is fun and addicting, but with my two boys,( yes the other one counts lol) IT HAS NEVER BEEN ABOUT THE 8FISHING. The hardest thing has been being patient and allowing them to fail a little and sometimes even letting them make the call on where we go and we try.
  12. Seen an osprey come down and ****** mama bass off the bed. Seen new born deer learning to walk. Seen 5 little ducks swimming behind mama, then a big splash, it was obviously a bass, then there were only 4 little ducks swimming behind mama. Seen a girl pulling up to the marina on a jetski and somehow whiskey throttled into the pier and pilings... my friend and his wife drug he ashore and stabilized her and performed cpr until medics arrived. She suffered alot of trauma injuries. Her face, head, clavicle, neck, and both arms were all jacked up. As a former part time medic, I've seen it all, I just havent actually seen it when it happened. Have pulled up on two bass floating in water with their mouths locked on to each other. Both were 3 plus lbs. I firmly believe now, bass will eat anything.
  13. ???‍♂️
  14. No need to use the good stuff as backing.. If you have some decent mono, use it. I use old spools of big game.
  15. Heck yeah man. Sweet set up, that looks pretty sick!. Good luck on it! Doesn't have to a 500$ combo to be a Darn solid set up. ??
  16. Now that's what I use. I like that stuff, but there's good stuff out there...Like I said, I'm gonna give.tatsu a try. Pline tactical is.supposed to be great. I know some darn good fishermen that.swear by it. I also don't think you can go.wrong with Seagar invizx. I'm not.super brand loyal. What ever you pick, use kvd line ans.lure.conditioner
  17. I have been using Sunline sniper for a long time. It's good line. I've recently spooled a couple reels with assassin, it was on sale. It's pretty good, I'll stick with sniper tho. It.has little memory out of the box, but it does settle in pretty.quick. I could be fine with sniper, but.my.next re up, I'm going to give Seagar Tatsu a fair shake. Most of my setups are braid with floro leader. However my.crankbait rods boat have floro and.I carry a couple all purpose, or pretty much a duplicate of the same rods, with just floro. 16lb sniper on 7'2 mh squarebill rod. 12 lb sunline assassin on 7'7 M cranking rod. Powell 723 rod for t rigs and pretty much anything, 12 lb Assassin. Powell 714 jig rod, 16lb sniper.
  18. ONLY 5? I wish my fishing OCD would allow me to only have 5 rods ready. I take all my.rods inside every time I get home and put at least 10 to 13 or so in the boat before I wave out again. my girlfriend thinks I'm an idiot. She.still doesnt understamd.why I have to have almost 2 dozen set.ups in the shop because once I'm on the boat I may use any where.from 2 to 5 of them the entire trip. I like being prepared ? ONLY time I take 5 or was is if I'm fishing someone elses boat??
  19. If they are on sale get em! They work. And if you dont get bit, mail them to me
  20. Daiwa ballistic reel 239$ I dont own one but I have fished them. Good reels. Daiwa tatula spinning reel 199$ I have not used one, but I wouldn't be afraid to buy one.
  21. Just a coincidence- but I just got back from the lake ( went out for 2 hours) those are the only three rods that I got outta the rod locker. I got some 8" hand pours in an oxblood color that saved my little trip. Those three rods and spinner bait rods have been doing the bulk of the work lately.
  22. On another thread, a member revealed that he throws a jig when he knows there are better options out there. Man he hit the nail on the head. Thats me all day. Although we all try to be the best we can be an have a variety of tools in our belt, theres always "old faithful " that you try even though you know it's probably not the best at the time... but it's been such a good producer in other times, places, and situations you have a hard time getting away from it. One can call it the bread and butter of what you do, but I can admit, there have been times when my bread and butter just ain't gonna be a great idea, but I cant myself wasting casts and time with something that I know isnt the deal. Sometimes it has worked out and caught a fish or two, but I know if I'd gotten outta my comfort zone, i might have gotten more results. I'd like to hear from you guys honestly, what's a hard head bait or technique that you have a hard time getting away from sometimes even when you know pointless. Mine is definitely a jig. I know there are a million ways to rig it and present it to make it different but for me particularly is a 3/8 arky or grass jig, with a rage bug, z hog, or something in that form. keep one tied on, and I'm gonna try it even if I know it's not the deal. please tell me I'm not the only one here that hard headed and has a hard head lure. My fishing buddy, his hard head bait is a buzz bait.. hes caught at least 10, 7pounders in the last 2 years on one, and he is gonna throw it every time he goes out.
  23. Me too! Sometimes, you are the hero and some times you are the goat.
  24. That's exactly what I'm saying. When it's tough here in north eastern nc, typically I go plastic. It works. I'm not sure if it's the finesse aspect, but like you said, it rules. Senkos, robo worms, ribbon tails, rage baits, and baby brush hawgs have kept the SKUNK away many times.
