  1. Rigged out ..comes with depth finder, anchor, paddles, battery, etc. More than i wanted to spend but I'm taking into account that it's mostly ready to fish What do you guys think?
  2. Really focus on your family. Period.
  3. I know guys I get it.. just a shock to my system going to the doyo site anand seeing my reels like dang
  4. My lews arent bad...actually great for what I pay for them but dang man..
  5. I just looked up and old thread here on doyo reels... man I didnt know....and wow. I have reels running outta my ears... I like what I have... but I guess when I replace a reel it will prob be a mid to high end daiwa or shimano. I like my lews reels.... just dont know how I feel about the the whole doyo thing...who knows
  6. The seats look a little high for driving it. Is it comfortable? Or is it just camera angle throwing me off? Looks terrific tho buddy!
  7. All good advice. Touch the hook up, and even you dont trim the weed guard, use your fore finger and thumb to spread it out horizontally. Main thing is, just.keep fishing it and try a few of the little things... the timing will come together.
  8. Got one tied on now as a jig trailer.. I like them on 1/4 oz t rig too! Top3 I'm throwing in past few days Northstar Custom Flip/Swim jig - this bait has been versatile as crap. Alabama craw is FIRE. Spinnerbait- on fire KVD 2.5 wake bait /Ima Roumba Close behind, rage bug/craw Texas rigged. That's what I've THROWN caught the most on spinnerbaits, but that's dying down some, jig and Texas rig has done the most catching
  9. Floating worm as a top water bait over hydrilla has worked. Been a while but I remember the strikes being violent
  10. Is the levante jerkbait special on back order again? If you already are into megabass rods, why not the rod that was designed for the vision 110?
  11. Time to get another one
  12. I know nothing about rod building. I'm sure you can reach out to @.ghoti. or @Delaware Valley Tackle. Both of these guys are regulars here and both are good rod builders.
  13. I love targeting isolated emergent vegetation like water willow...its crazy how a 5lb fish will hide behind a single strand of water willow or a single reed as if it is completely hidden. Normally I can pitch to them or swim a spinnernbait or squarebill past em.
  14. That's good stuff man, I appreciate it. I grew up in a pond boat with a paddle, I have an idea of what I'm getting into. But you hit the nail on the head, theres a good chance I'm gonna miss the comforts of my boat. But I'm committed to getting more exercise and I've always been intrigued by it. I'm definitely open to buying used and starting with a paddle yak. Upgrade if needed, or just keep it. Worse case scenario, I give it to my son. I'm an adventure junkie and I think I'll enjoy it, I can then fish the river here more. ( Id be crazy to put 20 foot of fiberglass in the Roanoke River) Thanks for your input, no feeling hurt here. I definately see where you are coming from and you are not wrong. I'm gonna give it a shot, prob gonna jump on the auction sites and see what is used out there...
  15. Docks, stump beds, water willow/reeds are my favorites. hydrilla and milfoil I can deal with you just have go as weedless as you can..
  16. Thanks man! That's the kinda info I'm looking for... I'll look at the Jackson.
  17. Is he going with a guide? I'd call and ask hin..
  18. Thanks, unfortunately, there is no demo that is close to me just retail... gonna have to outta town to do that. 9inch unit on boat, so I may paddle around in whatever I get first and them see if I really want to put a unit that big on there. I think it would be fine. I should be able to just get a new transducer and cables and move the unit back and forth... Yes, I dont mind having two down the road. Pretty sure I'll give it to my son anyways
  19. I have one of the cheap aluminum ones off of Ebay. I bought it 10 years ago. fine as long as you arent knocking into it. I'd like build one and have a little more space in between the rods and reels. Casting rods are fine mine is a little aggravating for the spinning gear
  20. Hey guys, I'm getting close to pulling the trigger on a fishing kayak. I have a 20' boat and fish almost daily now days ( thank goodness) I do not have my little 10' pond boat any more and gotta say, I'm intrigued by kayak fishing and I want to get one. I have already looked at several of the threads here on kayaks. I've already looked at a few at local shops. I want a pedal kayak but I realize its probably better to start out with a paddle and then buy another down the road if i really enjoy it and want to upgrade. For a paddle kayak my budget is 700 but I'd like to keep it as low as is practical. I want to be able to stand up. I want decent tracking, I dont mind if its heavier, I'm gonna reckneck fabricate an old jet ski trailer for transport. I would definitely want to put a depth finder with a map on it. And I'd be fine carrying 4 rods, gonna be different not able to carry 10plus lol. I've looked at the life time yukon, ozark trail 10 footer from Walmart, perception pescador, and looked at a couple of the old town kayaks. My questions to you experienced kayakers.... which kayak kinda fits the bill? What do you think? I keep hearing people telling me to buy a good paddle.. can yall be specific on what to look for or just tell me what product is gonna make my life easier. I've obviously got PFD but should I ditch the inflatable mustang and get one like indee the kayakers wear? I dont mind spending the money to stay safe I was just wondering if.mine would be ok or should I get one specifically for kayaking. You guys that have electronics on yours,.... I have lowrance hd9s on my boat, are their kayak specific units out there or can I just get a unit and mount it ( I've did research on most stuff just not this) Thanks for reading this long book. What are yalls thoughts on what boat, how to rig it and any considerations Glen
  21. There are two guys The first one- This guy brings between 3 and 5 rods...(its not because it's all he has, he has a shop full) this guy also brings a medium sized duffle style tackle bag with 3700 boxes in it. He keeps rod covers on until he uses one. He opens a box and puts it back in his bag. Sets his bag in the floor right then. He is mindful not to step on my clear coat. Then theres the guy that brings every rod he owns and 1 large bag and 2 small ones and a big cooler. It's a dang mess. If he breaks a fish off and grabs another rod, you got a rod laying down with line whipping in the wind, 3700 boxes all over the back deck. You dang near have give him a compartment in the back of the boat just.for his stuff. Meanwhile hes stepping all over the clear coat...like dang. Heartbreak cuz rhe guy is the best fisherman I know, hes just messy and scatter brained. Ike ain't got nothing on him. Maybe it's my OCD. Maybe I'm a neat freak. Don't be the second guy. He dont get called very often. Messiness is the only thing that bothers me.
  22. Do you throw big swimbaits, deep crank? Dang sure would be a good inshore reel if you are coastal or in the gulf.... It's gonna be the ticket for anything where u need a long bombing cast and some power. If not you can always sell it and get what you want.... I'm sure the swim bait guys on here might would grab it up
  23. Yes mam. Let us know if you need anything. Good luck.
  24. @flipflops I gotcha now... i went on bass pro and didnt see any except for 1 of the mag bass models... just go for the GlX JWR. And select 7'1 and MH. That's gonna be the ticket.
