  1. Typically it's a casting issue. But with new technology casting weightless plastics, 1/8 oz shakey heads, and even small JERKBAITS on casting gear is possible.
  2. Lure ratings are always a sign. But hell, my Powell 723 casting rods are listed as MH Xf, but fish more like a Med with a fast+ action. Kinda like a mag medium maybe. 2 most versatile rods I own. There ain't alot I have thrown on them. I may but upgrades, but I'll have those 2 rods until they break. Good luck with the adrena M+ heard nothing but good things with that rod. Should be good for alot
  3. I have that rod, too. I have a 13 Origin C reel on it. I like it alot for almost anything bottom contact. I've also used it for buzz baits and topwaters... just make sure they have it before you set the hook.
  4. They are exceptional in clear water on sunny days because they give off ALOT of flash. The light refraction is crazy. They are just a good on muddy and dark days because it only takes a little little to make those puppies light up. Good at night too. I have about a third of my spinner bait box in hammered blades.
  5. Well I think you both handled it as well as yall could. You were right to ask him politely to back off and he was within his right to say that hes gonna fish. In a perfect world he would have said that he would try to find new areas to fish, but he didnt. Yall got to learn to live with eachother. I dont think childish games will help things. Thanks for venting to us, but you are in a tough spot. I think alot of it is personal annoyance and you are certainly allow to be annoyed. I know I would be. Maybe try again with the guy and offer to fish with him and get to know him some. Hell, you may make a new fishing buddy. Maybe the dogs wont bark as much the more he comes over to fish, give the man a chance to meet the dogs... I'd try other.methods for solve the problem. Good luck.
  6. I'd get at least one or two of EACH. and let the water clarity and the fish tell you which one they like. If I had to get just 1, I'd get the willow blade. The willow is pretty good for quick retrieve and all type of water clarity. I do use some Indiana and Colorado blades for night fishing and fishing when the water is cold, and or muddy. The give a ton of vibration off and you can generally fish them fairly slow. But most of my spinner baits and under spins are all willows and double willow.
  7. 3/8 is an all round size.
  8. Yes you can fish them slow. I like a pac chunk or chigger craw too. But I think we are overthinking this... I mean in winter a jerk bait is killer, the slow part comes from the pauses, but the jerks have Fast moving action. I think it's just a balance of both with the rage craw as well, its gonna flap on the was down the. Slow way down as long as it's a very subtle hop or drag.
  9. Youtubers are gonna do whatever they want, my suggestion is just be active in what they watch, and when you find the youtubers that do not coincide with their age or your family values just talk to them about why we dont want them watching it. There's several of them out there that do good stuff without the bad language and the drama. We really like B-Lat, Mikey Ballz, Hank Parker and Tactical Bassin' and others that are pretty much PG and stick to the fishing Nd teaching. This is a long thread. Come on spring. ???
  10. Welcome bud, having a topwater/jerkbait rod is a good concept. And I've tried it. And unless you are just using mono, it's a hassle. JERKBAITS to me do best with floro, mono does not. JERKBAITS and braid are not a good idea period. Top water are ok with mono and braid but not floro. What I did for years is I used 30 lb braid with a leader for FC jerks and a either a long leader of mono or a 18"inch leader of FC. The problem with Braid on some topwaters is the braid gets tangled under and around the front hooks..I know floro and top waters is bad, but why using braid and and very short leader of FC, u get the qualities of FC without the sinking, and its stiff enough to do the job without tangles. Now days I just have separate rods. Good luck.
  11. It definitely wont hurt it. Go for it. Yeah, Vanish nearly sent me back to spinning gear and mono only ??. Then I found Sunline, Gamma, and Seaguar and my faith in FC was restored.
  12. I have some but I dont really need it on sniper or assassin. I just got some tatsu in and few the couple times I fished it, I dont think I'll be needing it on that line either. I despise using cheaper berkley or BPS floors, but kvd line conditioner makes them alot easier to deal with. (I havent used them in 8 or 9 years)
  13. ? I think there are better ways to resolve this issue. Good luck getting things straight.
  14. I'm gonna find out. Just put in an order for a few spools of gold seaguar
  15. Send all your braid and floro to me. I doubt using floro has affected your catch rate.
  16. Good stuff
  17. This right here. I start earlier than alot of folks with top water baits. I really like the subwalks, smaller walking baits, wake baits early in the season. Wake baits have really done well for me this past year in the spring...I just give it a slow and steady go
  18. Yeah, I dream of somewhere sunny and warm everytime I clock in at work
  19. Outside of burgaw
  20. Awesome man I'm familiar with that area. I'm originally from Pender Co. My first bass came outta Long Creek
  21. Not braggin by no means at all, but I have had reels sit for 2 years or more while I was working on the road with the drags set as I left them. And have no issues at all. (I rarely tighten drag all the way down unless in the middle of a fight or if I'm punching on occasions, even then it's not cranked all the way down) I'm pretty sure there's a right way to do it, but I fish enough now that it's not been an issue. And I dont like to have to mess with the drag everytime I put it in the truck or the boat
  22. What part of NC are you in? We had a thunderstorm up this was near va line off of 95. Nice fish brother
  23. I leave mine on silent and check it every time I turn big motor on. Only reason I dont leave it in the truck is for emergencies.
  24. Lund must be a northern thing. I just dont see a whole lot of them down here.
  25. War eagle Screaming eagle is my hands down favorite. 1/2 oz in a compact size. I can bulk it up with a bigger trailer if needed but most of the time, grub or 2.75 ton3 inch trailer is all I use. I have some Stanley's andi like them to. The river2sea bling is a good one as well. I dont care for the strike king or BPS spinner baits.
