  1. That's a pretty good catch!
  2. Whippy noodle is pretty much what you are looking at with a longer UL. I think a light rod would be good. I say that, because you cant dictate, when a big cat or larger bass jumps that little jig. It would be nice if you could buy one of each. An UL, and a L respectively.
  3. Several good options out there. Just a few that I really like... storm arashi, norman fat boy, spro little john, and duel hard core1+. I still have some of the little bandits too! The duels are on closeout now. I like the rapala dt6 and the ikes ink. The arashi, duel, and fat boy get the most work from me. I bought a half dozen of the new 6th sense crush, but havent thrown them a ton. The smaller 100 or 1.5 size prob get bit the most, but I really like a 2.5 size or 1/2 ounce weight.
  4. Last count was 16 bass set ups and 30+ collectively.. I've sold a few and had several stolen by someone who wanted them more than me I guess. I carry about 8 or 9 plus one of my striper rods (ducket inshore rods) that I throw swimbaits on. So let's just say 10. Bank fishing I'll carry 2 for me and 2 for each kid going. They carry their own gear. Getting closer to pulling trigger in a kayak.. gonna try 4 rods to start and see how comfortable it is. When I had a pond boat I carried 4 rods. Catfish and striper fishing I'll carry 6. Plus a couple ultra lights and a couple bass rods just un case. (Most of the time they stay in the rod locker.
  5. The obvious thing for me over the past few years is observing other fisherman on spots offshore. Since most of the hydrilla on my home lake is pretty much under control, most of us are being a little more creative. I generally try to remind myself to go some of those areas and idle over them and see if theres anything under surface worth marking. Not trying to sound like "one of those guys" but If I seen enough boats trying something, I'll look at it when the spot is open and not being fished.
  6. I think you will be fine... I've thrown 3oz swim baits on my frog rod.... and that's almost double... just see how it feels. Theres alot of affordable swimbait rods out there...
  7. Well... considering they will pretty much be committed community rods with alot of different skill levels of fishing. I would go with all 4 spinning. Unless you feel confident that most of the people can successfully use a bait caster without getting frustrated. I'd personally think about 2 Medium or even Medium Light set ups and 2 MH set ups. No need to be super specific with them. If they are for bank fishing, I'd think at least 7 foot in length, to get a long cast if needed. If yall have a boat, length is entirely up to you. I'd good with 2000,2500, or even a 3000 series spinning reel. If you choose baitcasting, get something that will sling lighter lures. What is your budget for each set up... dang good spinning reels can be found in the 75 range. Same for rods. (You can get really good equipment in the 75 to 100 bucks range, per unit)
  8. I have hooked several limbs and found q lipless or a squarebill on them. I keep them and change out the hooks
  9. Good points catt, I think deeper/offshore fishing intimidates alot of anglers. What methods or techniques do you use when you are picking these fish off
  10. Here lately I have stayed on the fish. But if I didn't know, I'd start shallow, then move deep
  11. @plawren53202 if you like the aird x. Try one of the next rods up. Daiwa xt can be found for 80 bucks. My son has one. I love it. The daiwa tatula line can be found for 109. I've seen plenty of debate between the dobyns serria and the daiwa tatula. I cant respond to that cuz I've never fished a serria, but I can say that I've never found a serria for 110 bucks. Based on value, the tatula is a great rod. Glad you are happy with your AIRDX. I like shopping daiwa, they havent let me down yet

    Old Dude

Welcome Jerry. Glad to have you.
  13. Poor raccoon. Little dude was so weak. He looked like enjoyed the ride tho. I've never hooked myself in the leg, that looked rough. Looks like yall still had a good trip. I liked how clear the video was.
  14. No weights but I've had some huge stripers caught on a ML spinning rod and 8lb test with a fluke.
  15. They are on point. I like them a lot. Perfect size.
  16. Heck yeah, I love that big smile alot more than the fish! Treasure the moments.
  17. Fairly cheap place to start is the kvd wake 2.5. I like them. I also like the Ima. I do alot of wake baits
  18. @Angry John very well said. Dirty Jigs has a version of it that is very productive.
  19. That's a heck of a rod there bud! I love mine. 74 bucks isnt bad either.
