  1. I'd look at some of the less expensive options and just get two rods. If you search u can find 2 rods for the 310 budget.
  2. I dont have a frog that poops
  3. The beauty of the frog is you dont absolutely have to walk the dof with it. Alot of the spot I throw one is so dang thick, I just move and pop it and I dont get caught up in focusing my my attention of walking it like a apook. Slowing it down with subtle pauses and working slowing over and around mats and emergents works well. Ish monroe made a good video about it.
  4. Maybe I need to be catching more fish...my thumbs have never done that. I need to step my game up
  5. I have the same rod with 50 lb daiwa j braid x8. You will be fine. Right now I have a 15lb assassin fc leader on it
  6. I just bought a small spool to go on my CRANKING rod, in 12 lb. Gotta spoil it up today will report back soon. No yo zuri experience here.
  7. For me it's not a "frogging" thing... it's a cover thing. You gotta make you mind up at certain impossible heavy cover that you are just gonna tighten it down and drag their butts out. I do the same the thing punching and when I skip deep under huge community or commercial docks. I set the hook and reel like hell
  8. Go with whatever u can get free or discounted and then save money and do research and buy what u think is best. I dont think u can go wrong with Dobyns rods and lews reels for a good start. Daiwa, shimano, loomis, dobyns, powell, are good places to start.
  9. If I'm not mistaken the 744 xtreme is like 330.00 bucks. The expride costs less....like 280.00 Never mind just realized we are talking about two different rods. I have the extreme. Yall are talking about the champion...ok. I'm dumb sorry guys
  10. Typically it changes week to week but I have a game plan in mind and typically includes 3 or 4 rods and ideas... but I bring 8 to 10 rods.
  11. I have the same rod, it's my primary jig rod. Feel plenty sensitive to me. I ha e 50 lb braid and 16 lbs sniper on it right now. I feel like it's the most sensitive one I own. If I can turn back time i would try to get a 7 foot model in the same power. I dont know about the expride, but the guys in tactical bass. Always include expride in their high end review and they dont often mention the champ xtreme The powells have similar actions and are excellent for moving baits...
  12. The rod isn't broken in, you are.
  13. It's really very simple for me.... I go out with the mindset of trying to catch 5 and get the biggest bag i can. I want 20 lbs in day... i was 12 or 15 lbs in half day. It's a game i play with myself. I lose more than i win, but it keeps me sharp.
  14. Get the expride and buy cheap CRANKING rod till u can get another expride
  15. Rick clunn once said that every big lake has 3 or 4 spots that holds large Quantities of big bass... I try to find them Typically it is the same areas..but I've found that the big girls and big boys will isolate in small isolated cover. I target those with big baits when I can
  16. When the bass are generally lethargic and I'm trying to put a pattern together, I fish the most likely areas, and from there, the pattern evolves. If I have my son with me, I generally, try to go to high percentage spots with high percentage lures, even if they are dinks, I try to get on them.
  17. I had a blue fenwick venture that I got back in 2004 that broke back in the springtime. It broke as I was ripping a fluke through the grass. It was a pond trip so I took old rods in case one of the kids stepped on one. I've caught many of bass on that rod. I even got tangled in a tree once and and the lure was barely dangling over the water and fish jumped up and took it, I was able to pull down on the limb and get him in the boat. Good rod for sure. It came with an Abu cardinal reel. The rod outlasted the reel. The last reel on it was a sahara
  18. If it works go with it, I use anywhere from 8 to 25 with floro and mono and 50 to 65 braid. Different line for different rods.

Are you a fan of the XD by Springfield. I have 3 of them. I I have compact gen 1 in 40, subcompact in 9m gen 2, and I had the XD Slim in 45, I traded a guy for his xD Slim in 9Mm. Kimber, sig and Smith all make good weapons. I used to carry a M&P when I was in law enforcement. It's a good comfortable weapon.
  20. My powell Endurance 683 and 723 are good for light wire jigs. I have a medium wire jig with trimmed skirt and a paca chunk tied on to my tatula 6'10 mh. Very good rods for the money. But I'm sure they dont compare to the loomis, megabass etc
  21. I'm with Blue,
  22. That's alot of real estate. I would go there if that's where I wanted to fish and look for a wide spot to pass him so long as I can stay a good safe distance. Nothing wrong with politely asking to pass thru if its right and go to the back of the area and work your way back out. Now if said guy is a jerk when you ask to pass through, (and I would only ask if I have to get closer than 100 feet or so from him boat) just be polite and pass through slowly and dont make a lot of fuss
  23. Excellent video. Thanks Sam.
  24. Both rods will be good, I think. My consideration would be the 55lb braid. When I throw them alot in the winter, I use a Powell 714 with 12 lb sniper.
