  1. Good responses. To clarify to a few folks, I'm not in the market for a rod. I have plenty right now...until tw has more of the stuff on clearance.
  2. I agree. I'm half way there.. Just my two cents
  3. I have a split between daiwa L&T and Powells and castaway skeleton. I have slowly phasing themlightmand toughs out. I'll say the light and tough series is an great set of rods for the buck
  4. I was at a News years eve party with a few of my bass fishing buddy and this was the topic of a very heated debate. In y'all's opinion, what is the best rod for less than 180. I couldn't speak for dobbyns as I have never used one but I thought that the castaway skeleton rods and powell were pretty, much it. What do y'all think. Love the skeletons btw
  5. I do also use the rage,frog..but I'll use the zoom most of the time
  6. Zoom Horny toad, 5/0 screw lock hook, braided line, black/red works well down here and so does solid white
  7. Nice. A very under rated combo that you've got. I have a veritas 7m (crank rod) with a lews TP. It is ridiculously light. I think you will enjoy it very much. I wish that I worked around more serious bass fishermen..it's like I'm speaking Greek to them....
  8. Summer time - T shirt and shorts and flip flops. Winter time - t shirt and shorts under my hunting clothes and boots.

Thanks! Anything biting right now on the Catawba River?
  10. Tie between Sammy and Bronze eye Frog. Yes, I mentioned the frog as a walking bait....
  11. He is exactly right. You are on the track also. Just start with a few of the browns and greens and of course the black and blue jig. Bassresource has some great videos on their YouTube channel on choosing and fishing jigs. But Roadwarrioir was right, pick a rod or two for jigs and keep them on there. They are a great tool around cover and different situations.
  12. Made the switch from daiwa to mostly all Lews reels. Lews Tournament Pro is probably one of the best values on the market. I still have a Zillion that's puts in serious work tho. And if you use the Internet you can find the TP for 170 instead of 200
  13. If you have a garage or a large space, you can practice pitching or flipping. If you want to get fancy you can move a couple chairs and practice pitching and swinging under the chairs (like you would a dock). I have done it a lot, this would be a good time to really fine tune your flipping and pitching stick reels.
  14. I am finally a forum member, I have been using this site as a resource for several years. I have been bass fishing around Lake gaston and Kerr Lake for about 8 years. I have fished a couple small tourneys and plan to start fishing local tourneys as often as I can. I have thought about co angling in the weekend series or bfls, if I can get the time an money to make more of a commitment. I look forward to meeting you guys and hearing suggestions.
