  1. I would say Rick Clunn. He's a super smart fisherman, a good teacher, and he is known for his mental approach to fishing. That's an area where I could improve. My close number two is Gerald Swindle. His style is much like mine and he is one of the funniest guys to ever get in a boat! That would be a lot of fun. Shaw and Denny are next. They are just legends. I notice nobody answered with KVD. Do we all assume that he would be too busy.. Lol
  2. Started out with an ugly stick.
  3. Figured this would be fun. If you only had one model of squarebill or shallow runner, what would it be be? Mine is Spro Fat John
  4. Last fall, my two year old was on the boat with me and was playing my storage while I was fishing. He found a 1/4 oz PopR and begged me to put it on his Snoopy rod. I casted it out for him. He started to reel and a fish came up and knock the devil out of it. I got the rod from him and put the fish in the boat. 13" bass for a child that had just turned two isn't bad for a first fish. Yes, we got him a replica mount. Snoopy rods are a beast. Lol
  5. Pitt boss is a beast too.
  6. I have always fished them on mono. I got Sunline reaction FC in and I'm going to try it soon. If it is garbage I'll probably switch to sniper. But either way, I'm going try floro on cranks
  7. All of those tourneys are gonna be out of Small wood state park.. So Pohick looks a little better if that y'all choose one of the dates when a bfl or bass tournament is going on.
  8. For y'all's info..tournament dates on the Potomac. there will be a BFL event on 9/21-22. There also bass, aster weekend series events on 8/17-18 and 9/7-8. There are probable a bunch more but these are the ones I could fine now. I figured this would be something to consider when picking a date.
  9. You are certainly welcome as I am coming from northern NC. You are welcome on my boat. We will be able to store most of it. If you like big swim baits or flipping with an oz then we will be on same page... Lol
  10. I flip and punch em. Good baits. It's something different
  11. TriCity, I don't know where you are but there in a tackle shop right at Kerr Lake, on the nc/va border that carries Cashion. You can go there there and physically see one for your self...that's if your not far from there.
  12. I want to check the block that says i am a boater with an open seat but i dont want to pick a date because it doesnt matter to me as long it isnt the last date. That 9/22 is my birthday and my wife says any other date is fine butt she has jurisdiction over my bday. All that said, ill wait and see what dates for other guys. If thats ok. But i do have an open seat on the boat. I can get two people if we absolutely have to.
  13. I would probably pick the Cashion rod. If I had to choose between the two. If u already own a lot of compres and really like them, then why not try a crucial
  14. I label everything! I never thought of duck tape. I have pack of the label stickers ( large and small). Use a sharpie!
  15. That was based on if the motor is no good. It may be just fine. I'm thinking u need to drive to TN and take your tools with you before you will know
  16. Only a guess. But let's say motor is garbage. You should be able to buy a used motor between 2500 and 5000 k. There is a guy here in NC in Wilmington that rebuilds motors and sales in that range. ( He sales them on eastern nc craigslist)You should be able to do the rest of it for small chunks at a time. My guess is...definitely less than 10k Remember you will save a lot by doing it yourself
  17. Just make sure that once you start driving to TN that you are committed to putting some serious work otherwise, you are wasting gas money. I have found that when I start a project, if I try to take it slowly and do it a little here and there; it never gets done. I would start with the motor. Them check the steering, throttle and so forth. Once all that is taken care of, I would start on the boat. If the motor is locked up or garbage, I'd start on the boat first and worry with motor after I am done. Dang I'm getting kinda excited and its not my boat.. Lol
  18. Haha who cares what people think! If it makes you happy then so what. A lot of guys fish out of older boats. Once you fix or replace all of your mechanical issues..which I'm sure there are plenty. You will have an opportunity to clean, sand, paint, recarpet, add new seats, extend the casting deck, add new gauges or whatever you like. You can make it look new. As for the drive, that's up to you. Is the journey of rebuilding the boat worth the fuel cost and a weekend to do it... Nothin is free.
  19. Hey I have a 2005Ford Explorer. Mine is 4x4 with a tow package tho. I tow my 20ft javelin with it all the time. I have not driven 10 hours with it but I have driven4 hours with it and it does just fine. I just turn the overdrive off. You should be fine.
  20. I am not a boat builder, but I do believe that this is gonna be a project that's gonna take some time and a little bit of money. You should be able to do a lot of the work yourself and save some money. There are tons of videos on the web that will help you restore that boat. I have no idea on make and model. If you are really interested in getting a larger boat, just weight the time and money versus money for a new or used boat that doesn't require so much work. If I had more time I would be be excited to have something like that. I see that boat and I see an empty canvas just waiting to painted and customized to my liking. I was in your position a few years back where I could have gotten a boat that needed ALOT of work for free, but I went ahead and bought a used boat in great condition.
  21. Abu's customer service is good. Wiithin a week from when ii bought a 7mm winch model. Mine broke abit 6 inchs from the top of while making a cast. I called them, i was instructed to send and email and photos to pure fishing and they had a new rod at my door within a weeks time. I havent had anyy more problems. And because it was less than 30the days old i didnt pay any shipping
  22. What a way to start 2013. Good fish
  23. I have used them andi think they are fine.
  24. Tubes are great for largemouths. For me I have three main baits I use for when I am fishing over beds and targeting spawning fish. 1. Lizards 2. Tubes 3. Big bite baits - war mouth #3. Is a bait that I tried just last year while bass were on the bed and it was absolutely amazing. I would go to YouTube and watch dean Rojas's video and see how he suggest you rig them. I like the blue gill and pumpkin seed colors. All that said, it is hard to beat a lizard or a tube on a bed. Those are MY favorites. Doesn't mean that there aren't others that work great. Centipedes and senkos can be killers too!
  25. I love a Springfield 1911. I have a Springfield armory micro compact .45. They are expensive tho. I don't think .45 is too much. They have tremendous stopping power. Keep in mind though the smaller the frame of the gun and the other the caliber you will deal with more recoil. Something to think about. I like mine quite a bit. I would suggest a Springfield armory xd subcompact.45. I have the subcompact 40 and I carried,it on my ankle for years as a back up weapon when I worked in law-enforcement. I was pleased with it. The flocks are great too I took to the XDs because they fit better in my hand.
