  1. Oh wow. Nice. Lol i didnt say it would work. It just looks like it would feel awkward
  2. Hahaha like the guy throwing a spook with an 8 foot catfish rod ...lol
  3. Daiwa ballistic can also be an option. They have an array of actions and are decent rods. If you dont mind having a rod that is half red. 100bucks
  4. For most topwaters (not the huge ones) i like shorter rod. 6'6 is a good length so im not slappin my gel coat. I got a 6'6" Dawia t rod back in 2011, med x fast, as a cheap solution to the problem and i really got my 65 bucks worth. I use mostly powells but i see no need in spending extra money to upgrade that rod when the action is perfect for sammys, gunfish, and my beloved PopRs. I also use this as a jerk bait rod and it does well there too.
  5. How long is your boat? Mine is 20 (19'10") and i have enough room for two people to fish up front. I didnt know if that is an option.
  6. I pitch lews tourney pro and lews tournamet. Good reels. Advice, go out side and practice pitching into a coffee can or at target. I do this everytime i put a different reel on a rod i will be pitching or skipping with.
  7. fly, i think you gus will be fine. You guys have an explosive offensive and a new coach that runs a fast paced explosive offense. Like you, i am concerned for your defense. Good thing this a great draft for defensive linemen and corners.
  8. Good idea also.. just keep in mind when using faster action rod that giving the fish an extra second and adjusting your drag a little will go a long way to help keep those fish on.
  9. If you can get yourr hands on some spare spools for your reel that would be good. Spool em up and put a little tape on them and put it in you bag. If you cant get a spare spool bring a spare reel with a different line size on it. Again just put it in your bag until needed. (Spare reels are a good idea anyway) Look into snaps. The berkely cross locks are good for me. This will help you can baits fast! Remember you can only fish on rod at a time anyway!
  10. Something that will help, once or maybe twice a week buy one item. Dont spend more than 3 -or 5 dollars. Hooks, weights, and soft plastcs add up quick this way. This will soften the blow of going "shoppin" I didnt see you list hooks, weights, and line on your list. I will assume that u have that already. Dont forget some 1/8 and 1/4oz shakey head jig heads I would suggest going to TW sales pages and overstock once you start shopping. You can probably answer alot of these needs and not hurt the wallet too bad. Starting out is tough.
  11. Bluebasser, exactly. I prefer not to tell those on the internet..lol besides some stories are best heard and not read.
  12. 1. Spro Fat John 2.Bomber FF shad 3.Bomber FF shad.
  13. ...i want to so bad.. dang monkey...but i will not. ...
  14. Question, why would you want to do that? What is the reasoning or purpose? I dont want to come off like im knocking your idea, im just a llittle confused. I didnt know if i was missing something.
  15. Nope. But i sing after a couple or 9 adult beverages.
  16. Man you guys are all over this! Good stuff. All i can stress is that buying premium treble hooks and taking a few minutes to change them out is very important. Ww2farmer was right about stock strike king hooks. They are horrible. It is worth it to change them out. Only other thing i dont think i saw that is worth mentioning is learn how to tie and rapala knot or use some good snaps. I like the snaps i can change baits quickly.
  17. Both of them have a place. They are two different types of lures. A horn toad type of frog generally will not float, it is best worked much like you would a buzz bait. You can cover alot of water quickly. A hollow body can be worked at any speed because they float. These lures really shine because you can fish them super slow if you need to and you can work them fast in a walk the dog manner also. The flat bottoms on both types of frogs make them easy to skip under limbs and brush and into cover.
  18. During the heat of the summer down here in NC, i have had luck all times of day. Later in the afternoon has been a little more productive, but ive had good success working frogs over mats of hydrilla mid day. The only thing i can really see a difference is in the mornings and evenings it is better for fast retrieve. Or a soft plastic frog. Ive done better with a hollow body durring mid morning to 3 or 4 or so.
  19. Ill save all my cop stories for the M&G..
  20. Me personally, i wouldnt put "lews" on my shirt because i really like them. But if you have a local tackle guy, that you are faithful with, ask him if you can put his on. He will either estatic or he will say no. Who knows, he might slip you a bag of worms or something. And if you doput the big companies on your shirt, have the decentcy, to send them an email and ask permission. Who knows what they will say. Nobody mentioned this, but if you do put logos on your Jersey, (with or without permission) make sure to present your self professionally whenever you wear it. You do not want to reflect bad on a company that you really like. You really dont want people who dont know any different to see you have a melt down at a weight in or something and then think "well dang, comany-x will sponser anyone" its even worse if they send a nasty email to said company. My two cents, but i do like the jerseys type. I have my companies logo on the shirt. It doubles as a work shirt.
  21. My buddy uses it and loves it. I ve never used it but i dont think i would be affraid to.
