  1. I use 10 and 30 # braid with 6 and 8 fluoro. I use about 5 ft of leader tho. (a goal is to keep the knot out of the reel) the time it takes to retie some times is worth the sensitivity, low stretch, and abrasion resisitance that you gain from braid.
  2. Maybe ESPN can offer him the same speach class that Michael Irvin took. Lol I cant understand him either.
  3. Ray Lewis is arguably the best MLB to ever play and got to out with another ring. Im happy for him. Also happy for Ed Reed, Haloti Ngata,Matt Birk, Terrell Suggs, Anquan Boldin, Ray Rice, Joe Flacco, and Vonte Leech. Those are some rugged guys that have been puttin in some serious work for a long time and have fought tooth and nail to get to the Lombardi Trophy. Also good to see the young guys like Michael Oher, Terrance Cody, Paul Kruger, Torey Smith and Jacoby Jones grow as players and contribute to a Superbowl teams. Those guys will be superstars for a long time. Tho I am an avid Carolina Panthers fan, I am a huge fan of these guys and the hard work that theyve always put in as ball players. I really am happy for these guys, especially the older ones that can cap their careers with a ring.
  4. I suggest that you go to the articles section and read on rod and reel seletion. There are tons of articles.
  5. Rod powers are a differnt animal. A 7''M is A GREAT all purpose rod. And a 7MH is THE all pursose rod It is not too much. I commonly use Heavy action rods for certain lures and situations.
  6. Most of my spinning reels are for L-M rods. I have both 1000 and 2500 sizes. I personally dont have a use for anything much bigger than a 2500, anything bigger and i use baitcast equipment. And yes and you correctly set the drag , they are fine for larger fish, just have to be more patient
  7. Hey dude, you caught my fish! Haha. I fished a few days ago when we had warm weather and i couldnt catch a decent fish to save my life. But i did catch 6 just like the one you are holding. If you find your self on a dink pattern and dont mind, switch to the lightest rod you have. In my case is a 6'9 light action rod. Fish like that feel like a monster.
  8. Lews Speed Spool, Lews Tournament, Shimano Citica, Shimano Curado, Revo S I am a Lews man. But in all fairness, the above listed reels are all QUALITY pieces of equipment by awesome manufactuers that are in your price range.
  9. glad to know that Parcells got in. Much deserved.
  10. Fly is on to something...i would agree and add to that. Best gear purchase -- when i started using Braid, and Tungsten. (Was about the same time) I really feel that this made a hude difference in how many fish i was putting in the boat. Gear im most proud of --the Lews Tournament Pro reels, IMO is comparable to the Revo Premeir at half the cost.
  11. I like coaching the small children ages 4-8. Two reasons for it. 1. Its alot of fun 2. Parents in higher age groups are pain in the neck. the youngest age kids are easy because all of the kids are going to get to play and locally there is no pressure for the 4-6 year olds to win. (Here they do not keep score at t ball games)
  12. Raider, sound like me and you are cut from the same cloth. Ive always played baseball, football and basketball both for school and city rec teams as child and now on adult teams. Im pretty intense and compettitive. I have helped middle schools with their boys and i was the type of coach that was intense and demanding. When i started coaching tball for 4 year olds...man i got a wake up call. I had to change how i approached it. I approached it by making a few goals. 1. Teach the game 2. Teach team work and use team building excercise in practice and warm ups 3. Allow the children to "play" the game and have fun without being over critcal 4. Encourage good play and explain why certain play is undisirable Now when i started coaching the 6-8 year olds -i put alot more emphasis on winning! Im all about a win or lose game but at 4 years old i really just want to get them involved and plant the seed for a love of the sport.
  13. We know you werent coming down on him. You were simply stating a fact. I just think its really cool to have such a young man so interested in creating new and innovative products for our beloved sport. I see a young man like that, i cant help but encourage him. Heck, with determination, we could be buying lures with his name on em one day. You wereto right. The Shakey2 and evolution jig are great innovative products.
  14. Thats more than alot of us can say. Keep it up. Do your homework and research. Keep you ideas simple but creative. Be innovative but in sense that applies to bass and forage and appeals to fishermen. Just keep pumping out ideas and lures.
  15. New2, i dont own a villain but my buddy has a few of them and ive fished them. I like them and they seem to be as light as the Veritas. It didnt feel big in diameter to me. My only complaint is that they feel a little stiff. Their power rating may be higher than it says it is... give it a few more chances. If it dont break, it should serve you well.
  16. Sweet ride. I like that. Seeing that boat makes me want to put on a trucker hat and drink a 6 pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon.
  17. ^^ see my edited post. I figured there was gonna be one wise guy in the group.
  18. 1. BPS Johnny morris signature series rod 2. BPS RCX Rod 3. BPS RCX Rod that replaced ^^2. See a pattern here All three rods broke on a hook set. I bought all three at the same time about 4 years ago. The RCX rod broke after 2 months, replaced it, broke the JMrod and then a week later broke the other RCX rod. Then I went to the store and got my money back for both. No more BPS rods or reels. Correction - i still have a couple, but will not buy anymore. PS. Other than those rods and one defective Veritas, i have never broken a rod. Ive owned Powells, Castaways, Daiwa, Abu, and Fenwick.
  19. Pumpkin seed. Okeechobee Craw. Zooms moccasin pattern. And of course black/blue and black/red. All good producers. I also like motor oil colors in super clear water.
  20. Yeah guys, just ket me know how many tents to bring. No reason to go and spend a bunch of money. Campsites are only 30 bucks per night, so if that is split two or three ways it is a really cheap weekend. I already put in papers to be off work so im committed at this point....lol
  21. Getting off topic, im going to the in laws...so im sure it will be steaks and budlight
  22. No no, dont think that! The whole point of a cheat day is to demolish the pattern of eating that your body got it into through out the week. On my cheat day, its a 12 pack and three or four big meals that are 80%a grease! Love the ribs and fried chicken on cheat day...which is every sunday...and the occasional friday night
  23. Fly its actually suggested to have one "cheat" day per week. So eat what u want!
  24. I feel like a lipless crank can be good for most species all year long. Get two or three colors that your confident in. Strike King, Rapala and Xcaliber make good ones.
