  1. It def seems that way, quan.
  2. You can find yellow ultra cast on e bay.
  3. **shouldnt have to spend alot of time.
  4. @darren, he is doing well. His spirits are high. Ajay, thats the same thing my buddy, the marine mechanic says. I talked to him about an hour ago and he has started tearing to the lower unit and says it looks good other than a couple bad seals. He said he should have to spend alot of time on it. So far so good.
  5. Oh goodness. You are quite the writer!! That was awesome. Glad that YOU were the one that got hooked that day. Welcome to BR
  6. Welcome!!
  7. I like offset worm hooks on thin worms, lizards, and carolina rigs. Straight shanks on flippin baits and big creatures and ewgs on everything else. I just learned the snell knot and i plan to start using straight shanks on alot more ...but thats a work in progress, will report back when i get more of an idea.
  8. Heres the bottom line basics that WILL help you LAND more fish, ONCE YOU GET ON THEM. You say you have the basic stuff, so i might be redundant. Make sure you have plenty of QUALITY HOOKS, (gammy, mustad ect) both heavy and light wire hooks. Make sure to buy some QUALITY TREBLE HOOKS and replace inferior hooks on treble baits. I like using straight shanks hooks on my flipping pitching baits. QUALITY FISHING LINE -and type of line depends on your comfort level with different line types. I like sunline Sniper fluoro and Spiderwire ultra cast braid. TUNGSTEN WEIGHTS - they are expensive but i love the sensitivity and compactness you get from them. Tungsten and Braid were absolute game changers for me. SCENT -i always been lazy when it comes to this and used an inferior product. But about three weeks ago i ordered some MEGASTRIKE and ive used it everytime ive been out since and it is a gamechanger. Ive been fishing footballs jigs deep on ledges and almost everyfish i caught that way CHOKED that jig!! Im a believer now! Snaps or Speed Clips. I am a huge believer in them for my cranks. I Like the Berkley Duo Locks. It makes changing crank baits so much quicker Good set of Pliers, braid scissors and some Toe-nail clippers I know you mentioned that you are not a beginner and I apologize in advance, but when i think about stoucking a tackle box, i think about the little bitty details that help make use successful. Terminal Tackle is a Huge Deal to me!.. as for baitsm load up on some Seibert Outdoors Jig and Rage Tail Craws!!
  9. Haha... 6 more months, we will make sure you love birds can fish together.
  10. I know right. I hate that this is where my little tax refund may be going. Its crazy tho, i was just telling some one on here a couple days ago, boat stands for bust out another thousand.... now its me getting hit..lol
  11. The last time i was there was the fall of 2011 and i had success on a finding fish that were chasing the shad. That particular weekend, it was a dominant pattern. Ive also had alot of sucesss in the past pitchin and flipping, trying to imitate crawfish and blue gil. Norman is a good lake with some serious fish in it. It does seem to get really crowded out there in the summer time tho.
  12. Ive fished there several times, count on crawfish, bluegil, perch, gizzard shad, threadfin shad. I ve heard there were blue back herrings in there but cant say that ive seen them.
  13. I havent tried it. Im content with Spiderwire Ultra Cast. The best braid ive tried so far. If i was really concerned about line visability, I would use a Fluoro leader.
  14. ...really dont want to hiijack this,,,,but what in the hell are you doing driving a bike 170mph...sounds like a death wish...good thing you seem to be stuck on bass fishin for now.
  15. That is a cool jon boat!! You are right, she is ready! I just posted that my bass boat had to go to the shop...so my jon (which is naked compared to yours) may have to put in some work this weekend! I like seeing decked out jon boats.
  16. Oh no! What was wrong with it?
  17. I went fishing yesterday ( it was dreary and nasty out so I had the day off. I drove about 4 miles down the lake from the ramp and the water was really rough, so I went way up in one of the major creeks on Lake Gaston and was protected from the wind. I mainly fished ledges and a couple flats off of the main creek channel. I caught 3 fish on the football jig, and 4 on a suspended jerkbait. My best 5 would have went 14-15lbs.. so i was pretty happy. ... Until i started driving back to the ramp and the wind had calmed down alot but my steering still felt sloppy and i wasnt even driving fast. I got it on the trailer and stopped by the Marine shop on the way home and my buddy looked at the hydraulic steering and noticed a leak. He said that it is common in SeaStar units that are 5 plus years old. He said it was a bad seal. I told him to go ahead and order the kit and to go ahead and change my lower unit oil while i was there since it had been 6 months since ive done it. Thats when he noticed my lower unit oil was milky....yup you guessed it...bad seals in lower unit too. @ Boat got dropped off. I hope this doesnt hurt me too bad. Im waiting on the phone call now to tell me the damage.. he predicted about 150 for steering and 350 for lower unit too (labor included) .... we will see. I am nervous. Ive heard horror stories about lower units. He thinks we caught the lower unit early because he didnt see many metal shavings and i didnt notice the gears slipping when accellerating... but what do i know
  18. Ive always used it as a bed fishing color. I have some pink tubes that have decimated some bedding fish. I like a pink trick worm too!
  19. A-Jay, i know this thread isnt about me, but i loved that. Im so gonna steal that. Thanks for posting it.
  20. Pray on it, and be patient. What ever it is, just be patient...just make sure to have an open dialogue with the wife/kids. But most of all, pray on it.
