How sensitive does it need to be? I use sub $100 rods with braid and a short flouro leader. I can feel the fish breathe on the bait. I can feel every tap on rock or wood. Oh and if you are fishing rocks, the smaller size snags easier in the cracks.
Now punching big weights is another story.
I use 30 min epoxy. I wrap a rubber band numerous times around the spline. It separates the two parts and keeps the tail from spinning. I also only did one part at a time.
I think Gammy makes the sharpest hooks.
Good bang for the buck is the Mustad KVD Triple grips #TG76BN
Cheapest here. http://cedarrunoutdoors.com/bulk-hooks/
Createx yellow iridescent and lime irid over a white base for the bottom one.
My second is createx pearl green.
Third is the Createx Pearl green qith a couple drops of black.
My main prob with th Slick8 15# was when using slow sinking baits like a NED or weightless Stick. It seems to float more and really slows the fall too much. I will try a lil longer leader bot I dont like it when the knot goes to the reel.
Break out the medium light spinning rod with 15# braid and a 8# flouro leader. #5 Berkley Flicker Shad, Storm Smash, Luck e Strike The Freak, Rapala Shad Rap, etc
Kastmaster 1/8 oz spoon too
So I always use 15# PP braid. Decided to get a 1500 yard spool and got the yellow Slick 8.
Does the slick 8 float more than the standard? Using my usual 1/8 oz jig with a three foot 10# flouro leader, it seems harder to feel the bottom and the bait falls slower and swings at me. I hate it!
Do I just use a heavier weight (3/16?)?
Ty.
I love these ball heads Cadman makes for me. 1/8 oz, fiber weedguard and #1 hook. So snagless and great hook up percentage.
The whole flat mushroom head deal seems like a gimick to me.
