  1. So our lake was shocked and professionally accest . About 2000 smaller >14" bass need to be removed to start. Bass are stunted at 12-13" and not enough food. Bluegill ratio to bass is 1:2. Should be more like 40:1 Has any other person or club done this? How did you store the caught bass to be removed? Airated tub? Holding pen in the lake? Is there any business that would want the fish? Amimal food or fertilizer? I dont think catching that many bass in the spring will be a problem. We also need to keep records on what is removed. Lake also has large adult gizzard shad that need to go. Gill netting? And then the white perch that took over.....LOL. Been a steady decline in bass size since shad were introduced (somehow) about 5 years ago. Thanks
  2. Kinda sexy shad looking I would try 1 037 clear blue or 405 glimmer blue scale .5 272 glimmer gold 1.5 133 silver flash http://www.maine.gov/ifw/fishing/species/identification/images/alewife.jpg http://www2.dnr.cornell.edu/cek7/nyfish/Clupeidae/alewife.jpg
  3. Yup 4.5-5.# 6 this time of year needs to be longer.
  4. Great fish. That should give you some jig confidence. What weight and any trailer?
  5. Ya Zoom baits are too soft. They are cheap though.
  6. Yes a one minus or similar very shallow crank may work. I prefer a 1/4 oz spinnerbait with decent size Colorado to run just under the surface Weightless fluke walked near the surface
  7. 3" Havoc sick Fish

  10. ^^^^^ this
  11. Not sure but I think only the HD model has downscan.
  12. I buy the heads prepainted with wire. Add blade(s) and bend end. Add swivel. I either make my own skirts from silicon tabs or buy premaid skirts. Barlows is good.
  13. I did some baits tonight with old comercially made baits (not sure what brand) Amber brown with green flake (gourd green). Added a sqirt of heat stabilizer and heated in the micro. Shot them in a 702 craw mold. They came out fine and same softness as the originals I melted. Remelts do tend to stink a lil though.
  14. Possibly. If the plastic got to a liquid and you stirred and their were no lumps then it was hot enough. Should pour like a thick pancake syrup.
  15. The first time you heat virgin plastisol it needs to get to about 350*. Any reheats after that 300-325* should be good. Dont want reheats too hot or plastic will scorch, change color, and glitter will melt. I would use a couple ounces of virgin plastic and then add a "squirt" of heat stabilizer and then some used plastic for remelts. If it bubbles or foams that means there is moisture in there. Water and plastisol is a bad mix. Stir stir stir. Keep batches small till you learn so you dont waste plastic. Go at least 4 oz and no more than 8 oz. GL and stay safe. ALWAYS wear gloves
  16. No the candle heater wont get hot enough. Hot plate will help keep plastic warm but wont be hot enough to actually cook the plastic to temp. Microwave should be like $10 at a garage sale. Or try Craigslist. A small low power on actually works best. 548 is pretty stiff for bass baits.
  17. Sweet. Any pics?
  18. Yes Heat stabilizer helps keep the plastic from burning on reheated. Just need a few drops. Bears plastic is Calhouns brand. Medium injector will fill most standard molds.
  19. Newer mold company with great prices. http://baitmolds.enforcermolds.com/molds/index.php?route=common/home
  20. I like Calhouns. I heard Baitjunkies is good and I also heard it actually is Calhouns. Do-it was good when was Caney Creek, but not as good now (i heard) Never tried LC, MF or Spike it. Medium is best all around and buy softener and heat stabilizer too
  21. There are two sided aluminum fully round stick molds. They work fairly well but hard for me to get perfect baits every time/cavity. Since those and injection molds are same price, better off going injection. Injectors are only $40 used. I have an extra if interested.
