Bought one yesterday. Was marked $65, the self scanner said $49. Asked the guy at the fishing counter if it was the one in the ad. He scanned it, which of coarse came up with the $49 price. He said "Nope, this one's not $29, the only one of those I have left is over there in the corner". I picked up that one and showed him it was the same rod, just different action and length and he said "nope" and totally blew me off!!! I stood there for a while figuring out what I wanted to do and he was acting like he was busy moving stuff on the shelves but I could see him watching me like I was going to switch the stickers or something. I finally took the original one that I wanted, grabbed a flyer by the entrance and brought it to a checkout. I told them it wouldn't scan right, they looked at the flyer and changed the price. It's no wonder I try to avoid Wallymart!

So are you saying to not get too hung up on getting di or dsi?

Looking for a fish finder to put up front by my trolling motor. Currently have and old Eagle that came with the boat that I'll keep in the back. I would like to keep it around a $200 budget. I'm trying to figure out what is more important to me, color, down imaging, or gps. I see Lowrance has models that have the DSI, but then don't have traditional sonar, is that a big negative? Looking for what opinions/advise you guys might have.

Looking for my first baitcasting rod and was wondering what you guys thought of Cabela's Fish Eagle II. How does it compare to rods like the Veritas and others in that price range. I see they are on sale for about $40 right now. There is a Cabelas opening in my area in March and I could wait until then so I could actually handle one and see how it feels (and hopefully they would run a simular sale), but If they are not up to par with the others I would continue my search elsewhere. Thanks for your advise!

New guy here from west Michigan. I bought a small fishing boat last summer and have been working on becoming a better fisherman. I found this site and have learned much from it. My usual fishing partner is my 6 year old son and it has been a lot of fun watching his skills improve as well as mine. We are really looking forward to another year on the lakes and rivers and I am really happy that I found this community of bass fishers who are so willing to share their expertise!
