    All the Abu rods (Veritas and higher) are nice, the only thing I don't like about any of them is how big the triggers are on them (bait casting rods that is)

    Just think, its a little more then 1/3 the price of a brand new Veritas. Personally Id just go buy a new one.

    Hello and welcome, honestly for $250 id buy one combo - You can get some decent quality stuff for that price range. For starters there are a lot of good rods for $99 retail, such as the Abu Garcia Veritas and St Croix Mojo Bass (St Croix all the way!) and a good starting bait casting reel is the new Gen 3 Revo S for about $120 (It matches really nice with the Veritas)

    Remember, when your engaging the centrifugal brakes, always have the opposite one engaged as well. You can also have 3 engaged, every second one.

    I wouldn't use snap swivels for crankbaits, they make the lure to front heavy and pick up a lot of junk. Try Norman speed clips, as for using snap swivels, use it on baits that like to spin a lot ie. spoons.

    So I bought this 14foot fiberglass boat, I got all my interior parts built and ready to put in, but I want to paint the outside first. I've sanded it down and its ready to paint, but I don't know what kind of primer to use or what kind of paint I can use on top of the primer to get my camo look for it. Any suggestions?

    So should I just run 6 gauge through the whole system? I'm just over thinking things because not everything draws the same amps (like my trolling motor is 45ish amps and a fish finder would be around 10)

    Anyone know what Gauge wire I should use for hooking up my electronics in my boat? I'm running 2 12V Batteries (In series) to a Switch panel, then from the switch panel ill be running 4 Gangs (Trolling motor, fish finder, Bilge Pump/home made live well and Stern+Nav Lights)

    Have you recently cleaned your reel? You could possibly have reel lube or grease on your drag washers.

    My 2 Cranking rods Top is a St Croix Legend Xtreme 7'2MM with a Gen 3 Revo Winch loaded with 15lb Invisx (Used for shallow divers, squarebills and Jerkbaits in a pinch) Bottom is a St Croix Legend Tournament Big Cranker 7'8MHM with a Gen 3 Revo Winch usually loaded with 10lb Invisx (Used for Medium to Deep Diving crankbaits)

    BP currently has a sale on them. Does anyone now if the 12V 46" shaft folds up on top of the actual motor clamp like you see on bassboats? And I have a 14ft fiberglass boat, nothing special. Its got an open haul and a 6hp motor on it. The total weight is probably like 250lbs max. Is the 12V gonna be good enough or should I get the 24V

    That's why I never buy "combos" regardless of what brand it is. Most people that look at combo's are people that will bend the crap out of the rod tip. Thinking they know how to test a rod out.

    My favorite Rod I have is my XC72MM (St Croix Legend Xtreme) I use to throw square bills up to 3/4oz (its rated up to 5/8 but handles the extra little bit of weight fine). Also doubles as a decent jerkbait rod.
