  1. Food for thought, I always catch 5lb+ SMB on nothing bigger then a 4" soft plastic in a drop shot. As a matter of fact the 7lb 3oz beauty in my avatar was caught on a dreamshot in dirt color.
  2. Awesome, thank you.
  3. John Hopkins swimbaits? His webpage seems to be down.
  4. Try hologram shad in the Roboworm FAT.
  5. As long as the reel isn't Black with red then I'm happy.
  6. I use a DS with livebait when fishing for walleye on hardwater.
  7. Hands down, my best performing prop bait is the Yo-Zuri 3DB Prop. Little on the higher side of a "budget bait" but these things are the cats meow.
  8. I'm using a LTB Dropshot spinning with a 1000 ci4+. The knots I use are improved clinch knots because of the hooks I use (VMC Spinshots)
  9. Just convinced me to grab a spool.
  10. This stuff looks pretty sweet, anyone use it yet and have any feedback? And I quote from TW Gliss Supersmooth Monotex Line is a revolutionary new line in a class of its own. It delivers the many of the same properties as mono in that it features a single strand construction, is super pliable, casts very well, and it floats, yet it still has many of the advantages of braid as well, including zero stretch, extremely thin diameters, and incredible strength. It is constructed through a breakthrough process that involves the extrusion of High Modulus Poly Ethelyne fibers developed during a 5-year process. Gliss Supersmooth Monotex was also performance-tested by Elite Series and FLW Tour anglers, including Fred Roumbanis. “I caught fish with Gliss that I could not have caught with other line,” says Roumbanis. "The softness of the line produces superior castability resulting in increased distance I can’t get with braid. The zero stretch of Gliss produces strike sensitivity not achievable in mono or fluorocarbon and with the incredible strength to diameter ratio Gliss is quiet and manageable at strength levels close to braid ... I am convinced this is a competitive advantage for me until the other pros switch to Gliss." -Round profile -Tremendous strength to diameter -High abrasion resistance -Extreme flexibility -Exceptionally slick surface profile -Low water absorption -Treated to ensure almost unlimited UV resistance -Made in Japan
  11. As far as jerkbaits/topwaters/crankbaits you don't need a super sensitive rod. I'd spend less money on the rods you're thinking about using for those techniques (Mojo's would be just fine) and save a few bucks and use that towards the rods you're going to TRig, CRig etc.. with. That being said the Avid or Avid X series are beautiful rods for that price category.
  12. Any ball park estimates on this bad boy? I've been looking hard at the 189VLO/Z518/Z118C and then this thing came up.
  13. I just measure my leaders the length of the rod I'm using, gives lots of line to retie with. Once it gets shorter then about 2 feet I'll retie the leader.
  14. Generally finesse jigs have lighter hooks and less strands making them less intimidating when bass are on a slow bite.
  15. Is that for the freshwayer series or the high mod?
  16. Aren't all the freshwater the same material, same goes for the high mod series. All my rods are all LTBs, but I've used Cumara's, Crucials, Avids, Avid X, and high end Megabass.
  17. Can anyone give me a ball park comparison of the MHX Fresh water series and the MHX High Mod Gen1/Gen2 as far as sensitivity, and taper. Looking to compare them to market ready rods.
  18. Not to insult you, but have you fished one of the exposed blank rods? I thought I like it at first but it gets really uncomfortable after awhile of fishing it. But different strokes for different folks I suppose.
  19. I personally feel that the MET13's are the best low pro baitcaster Shimano has released, and yes you can get them sub $300 NIB.
  20. Havoc Sick fish, although I catch bass with it from time to time the action is really underwhelming.
  21. Can't go wrong with either or, that being said I have 4 of each and I prefer my METS... until they come out with a BFS spool for the Aldebaran.
  22. Don't waste your money on a GL2.
