  1. I usually use other forms besides Fleabay to get JDM tackle. Does anyone have experience using fleabay buying from sellers in overseas countries ie: Japan, Malaysia, Taiwan? My friend told me that fleabay has a buyers protection program, does it actually work? and do people try to rip you off?
  2. I'm sure they would, but its highly unlikely. More of a right place at the right time thing.
  3. I own the Abu LTX and LTZ, aswell as the Shimano Aldebaran BFS and 2x Core 51's (One with the Avail ALD0936RR aka Honey comb). The LTX is pretty much a MGX with a micro spool and the LTZ is an upgraded LTX that comes with a micro spool and a super micro spool. The LTZ has a different braking system aswell. As for the Shimano's they are the way to go. The Aldebaran is the best choice for performance/price range. If you don't trust international retail webpages you can also make an Aldebaran BFS with a Core 50 + an Avail ALD0928R and Kattobi Air Bait Finesse special Bearings. Its all personal preference, but I like the Shimano's a lot more because they are a smaller profile. http://www.hedgehog-studio.co.jp/product-list/12 is a great webpage to do some serious customizing to your baitcasters. (Gets expensive quick, but you can make some cool looking reels) http://www.japantackle.com/ is also a good webpage to order JDM reels from. You can also buy an Abu LT (same as the LTX, but without the carbon fiber handle) for like $220 American. Edit: You can also make a Chronarch 50 or Curado 50 series into a BFS reel aswell using the Hedge Hog studio webpage. But make sure you upgrade the braking system and bearings when your going micro spool for any reel. I prefer the Kattobi Air bearings over Boca's because they use micro ball bearings.
  4. 6'10 ML XF, 6lb Flouro, 1000 size reel
  5. Palomar knot IMO is the easiest and quickest knot to tie, and it works for everything.
  6. Most technique specific rods can be interchanged with each other. A frog rod can be used as a jig rod, most worm rods are 7'1 MH Fast but they can also be used for pitching into sparse cover with jigs and can also be used for spinnerbaits. Crankbait rods on the other hand have a moderate tip so the rod bends a lot further down almost acting like a cushion so you don't rip out big treble hooks that crankbaits have. When it comes to swimjigs I personally like an extra fast tip so I can rip jigs through weeds a lot easier.
  7. Don't see why not.
  8. Most craft stores carry it.
  9. The same guy that makes the video does, its WAY cheaper to make your own if you gotta shop vac and its really easy to make them.
  10. Check this out, makes painting ALOT easier. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IhLo2KzSY4 Anyone of Dakota Lake Tackle videos will help.
  11. Invisx or Tatsu
  12. IMO the reel has more to do with the distance of an ultra light weight lure then the rod does (But obviously if the rod isn't rated for the weight, its not going to load up properly) As for baitcasting light weights you need a light spool and shallow spool or the lure will not pull line off the spool to get any distance.
  13. You know you can just use your thumb on the spool to increase drag right? SMART THUMBS aren't just for casting.
  14. So get the Ci4+ and throw it on your GL2 and the 50 on whatever rod you decide to get =)
  15. Ahh I didn't know that your other lures weighted less then the 1.0. I don't know if anyone makes a ML/M but you can always get a ML with a fast tip and use mono on it. As for the Ci4+ it would probably be harder to cast lighter lures because of the deeper spool as compared to the 50/51. One of my finesse baitcasting set ups is a TBC610MLXF with a 51E on it, but I have an Avail micro spool on it and Kattobi Air BFS micro ceramic bearings and I can throw a 1/16oz with a 4" senko far. If you want any real kind of distance with a baitcasting setup for extremely light lures you gotta fork out some decent cash.
  16. Go with a M/M rod an instead of getting the CI4+ Chronarch, I'd go with the 50/51E.
  17. I don't use wire leaders because they kill the action on some baits. But if your looking for a good wire leader look up Knot2Kinky - Seems pretty sweet.
  18. Same idea I guess. When you "rip" a jig you pull up on the rod almost like a hook set then let it drop. Good reaction strike technique.
  19. I was out fishing for wallies today with hair jigs and I thought to myself, would this technique work with a silicone skirted jig for bass?
  20. That being sad, 22+ pounds is overkill by ALOT even for punching. I've tightened the drag down on my G3 Winch STX and Premier and I can pull the line out just like I would pull the line out on 10lb drag on my Cores and 8lbs on my Aldebaran BFS.
  21. The new Revo's IMO and a lot of peoples on the boards have gone down hill from their counterparts.
  22. Take the $80 your going to spend on it and put it away. Save yourself another $120 and buy a Chronarch 50/51E.
  23. Shimano's keeping them around. Abu is only a limited time thing.
