  1. 1/4oz ball jig and a curly tail.
  2. Rice Lake is another good one as well.
  3. For the price range they're in I'd put them in the top 5.
  4. Red and Black.... huge no go for me.
  5. Hopefully, I just pulled the trigger on one last night on fleabay for $249.99.
  6. I might take a look at that, although I prefer 1000's for dropshotting because of how compact they are, saving d**n near $100 after tax is nice too. Anyone know if they're carbon disk drag?
  7. Anyone have any input on the Sustain? Is it worth the $300ish price mark or should I just stick to a Ci4+ or Stradik FK?
  8. I was looking at the PHX-S723M-B for deeper drop shotting.
  9. The Recon 2 blanks are all fast taper, but Hogsticker said they have more of a mod-fast taper and flex fairly deep (I'm assuming around the 4th guide?) a lot like a JDM built rod.
  10. I figured as much, I've read that they fish a lot like JDM rods.
  11. You're not the first one that has mentioned something along the lines of not liking Phenix blanks, what's wrong with them?
  12. How do you like the blank in terms of sensitivity? And comparisons to other blanks?
  13. So was about to pull the trigger on a few Phenix Recon 2 blanks, but noticed they come with a GIANT "Phenix RECON 2" decal about half way up the blank. Has anyone purchased any of these blanks before? It is just a sticker or is it superimposed on the blank. If it's not just a sticker, and actually on the blank itself, is there a way I can remove it? (I've read that citristrip will remove factory paint, maybe it will remove the decal as well?)

  15. So I'm in the process of building a rod dryer. I currently have a 5-6 RPM motor with a 1" pulley on the shaft connected to a 5/8" pulley (making it 8-10RPM roughly) with a belt for the drying process. I was wondering how many RPM's would be ideal to apply epoxy at, so I can run a dual pulley system and just switch the belt around when needed.
  16. The spool, one is aluminum and the other is magnesium.... I think.
  17. 20 Lb fluorocarbon for jerkbaits... d**n.
  18. I never understood why people gripe about "tip heavy" rods. I personally like my rod to be heavier on the front instead of the back because I feel like I get a more solid hook set.
  19. Performance wise, I'm assuming the Recon 2 and the M1 are almost the same? I looked at the MXS72M, but man those reel seats are ugly, lol.
  20. If you had to pick between the Phenix or Avid X, what would you buy? I should mention its going to be my secondary DS rod for deeper water. I'm thinking between the AXS70MF or the PHX-S723M.
  21. Anyone got any insight on the Phenix Bass Recon 2?
  22. All my rods I own are either LTB's or Xtremes, that's why I'm pushing towards the Avid X. How does the sensitivity from SCIII compare to the SCIV/SCV?
  23. I'm looking to get a few cheaper rods. I've been looking @ the Avid X, Crucial and Levante. What rod is the best bang for buck in this price range? (Feel free to mention others if I've missed any).
  24. I'm assuming they're SIC guides?
