  1. Too many 100 yard casters around here to worry about accuracy.
  2. So just for handicapped people, or for everyone? Seems like you changed your mind. BTW, there are a ton of successful football teams that throw the ball A LOT.
  3. 40lb Sufix 832 or 20lb Sunline Shooter around heavy cover. 15lb Tatsu in open areas.
  4. I met a guy at my local lake one day and we got to talking and he said he was a musician. Turns out it was Ryan Engleman of Turnpike Troubadours. Some guys may not know who they are, but pretty big in the Oklahoma music scene. Hopefully they make a comeback soon.
  5. @king fisher That's an excellent post!!!!
  6. I'm not handicapped and I use snaps for hard baits. I can't speak for the vast majority of guys who use them as well, but in your opinion, there must be a lot of handicapped anglers out there. That's a broad brush.
  7. Here's what I can say. I fished a local lake years ago for Crappie. This was a killer lake. There was not a slot limit and the bag limit was 39 a day. Me and my buddy could go catch a limit of 8-11 inchers with a few big 12-14 inchers thrown in a few hours. This was 12 or so years ago. Fishing was great for about 4 years. The the ODWC comes in and says they are changing it to 10 fish a day and they must be over 10". That was okay for about 2 years and then it was almost impossible to catch 10 Crappie over 10". You could catch 100 that were 7-9" (which is big enough to filet) but those 10"er's were hard to come by. I just don't think people are keeping enough bass that it will matter.
  8. I prefer an xfast for driving the hook home.
  9. I just don't like the idea of having to have an exemption with you during a tournament. I'm sure it will be something you can download to your phone or something. It just seems like more control to me.
  10. Yep, only one over 16" and 6 under 16"
  11. I will post the link to the website if you want to read it all, but this could be interesting. I will post a couple things from the article. The proposal aims to remove the 14-inch minimum length limit from lakes and reservoirs, and would allow anglers to keep only one bass greater than 16 inches daily. If approved, biologists anticipate a positive impact on the overall quality of Oklahoma’s black bass populations. This is where it gets interesting. In addition to the proposed rule change, the Fisheries Division has also requested a black bass tournament exemption, which will be free to obtain. When an individual angler possesses a tournament exemption authorized by the Wildlife Department, daily bag and size limits may deviate from those listed in the Oklahoma Fishing and Hunting Regulations. Instructions for the tournament exemption application process will be provided in the Oklahoma Fishing and Hunting Regulations and on the Department’s website. If passed, the regulation proposal would allow tournament anglers to keep bass over 16 inches until weigh-in, and then the fish must be released. I don't know, kind of seems like they are trying to make tournament fishing a little bit harder. https://www.wildlifedepartment.com/ooj/new-black-bass-rules-proposed-2022 Sorry, I wasn't sure if this should go in here or the tournament section.
  12. Georgia will destroy BAMA!!!! They might not cross the 50.
  13. @rtwvumtneer6 They might not ever go back there. LOL I appreciate it!
  14. Not at all. I never thought he had what it took to be a great coach. He had great talent and he never could get it done. Winning the Big 12 wasn't really much of an accomplishment the last few years. His record in the cfp says it all. He wanted to call plays and wouldn't hire an OC, which IMO isn't the head coach's job. I listened to almost all of his Tuesday pressers throughout the years and he just never seemed like a hard nosed guy. He always skirted around questions and never placed blame where it needed to be. Who knows though, maybe as soft as players are these days you can't blame them anymore. He is a heck of a recruiter though and can obviously turn a QB into a great player. Apparently he doesn't realize defense is where you win championships. It will be interesting to see where they go from here. I would love for Bob to take over for a couple years and move some new guys in (assuming some of the other coaches go with LR) and possibly groom one of them to be the HC. I don't think there is a big name out there right now that might be interested, so that may be the path they take. I certainly won't miss him, but that may come back to haunt me when it comes to future recruits. Moving to the SEC during this transition could be the worst thing that could possibly happen to the program, or it could be the best. Only time will tell.
  15. I will NEVER blame the officiating for the outcome of a game. I have coached for 15 years and I have always told my teams that one or two calls doesn't change the game. I stand by that on this game. IMO OU was offside on the safety and it wasn't called. I just hope OSU gets their chance.
  16. Well, I suppose you can tell by my user name which team from the state of Oklahoma I root for. That being said, I have NEVER hated OSU or even rooted against them. Sure, when OU and OSU play, I want OU to win, but other than that I don't root against them. I was raised to hate Texas, not OSU. Now, I am afraid after tonight OSU is going to get screwed out of the cfp. They "should" win the Big 12 championship against Baylor and IMO they deserve to be in the cfp. After watching Cincy yesterday, OSU would destroy them!!!! I have no idea how it will play out, but I think OSU deserves a spot in the final four assuming they beat Baylor. There is still a week left and a lot of games to played, so you never know. BTW, lets move this to at least 8 teams.
  17. I have owned both and this is just my opinion. Depends on what you want to do and your skill level. Along with what line and lures you want to throw. There is ZERO benefit to a DC reel if you are throwing heavy lures on braid or pitching jigs/t-rigs etc. If you are throwing baits that are lighter or tend to catch wind and your thumb isn't "trained" then a DC reel will help you. Think, throwing spinnerbaits into a 20 mph wind on 14 lb fluoro, then it will help. For me, they weren't needed. In fact, I think they are a bit harder to use because I think I lost distance trying to get them dialed in and ended up having them so loose that I might as well not been using the DC function. I would recommend them to someone who hasn't quiet got the hang of a baitcaster yet, but if can use your thumb, they are not needed.
  18. Auburns coach should be fired on the spot for not going for 2 in OT. You are 6-5 with nothing to lose. Bama had all the momentum and your QB could barely walk. You were lucky to be in the game. GO FOR THE WIN!!!!!!!! Could have called the 2 pt conversion you did in the 3rd OT and won the ball game. I guess when you are afraid to lose, you just end up looking like a fool and losing anyway. I would be furious if I was an Auburn fan.
  19. Fundraiser? Have a golf tournament.
  20. I watched them yesterday. They are garbage. I didn't want to pass judgement since I had never actually watched a game. But after yesterday, there are probably 15-20 teams that would beat the brakes off them.
  21. I agree and I have no dog in the fight. Will be a shame if Mich wins the Big 10 and they put Cincy in the cfp over them.
  22. I can tell you this. I probably have over $8,000 worth of rods/reels in my boat right now. None of them have made me a dollar in my life. However. our living room TV went out yesterday and we had to buy a new one and $800 was tough to come by at this time of year. I really should have got my priorities straight before spending what I did.
  23. It's like everything else in this world. We choose to make things more difficult than they need to be. I was an avid bowhunter and bought a new bow and accessories every year from 2006 - 2014. Nothing really changed with the technology and my hunting abilities certainly didn't change, but I had to have the latest and greatest. Been using the same bow since 2014, still does the job.
  24. As someone who carried up to 24 combos on my boat, I agree, you can get very specific. Is it necessary, not at all. I could probably find 5 combos and do everything I could possibly ever want to do.
