  1. A 3/4 oz spinnerbait usually comes in closer to an ounce. I don't throw them often, but when I do it's on a 7'5 H rod with 20lb mono. Same thing I throw my swimbaits on.
  2. @12poundbass is gonna want to share a kayak with you. Be careful
  3. In a creek, but I also use to catch them in the ditch out in front of my house on bacon and string.
  4. What if I told you they are Crawdads
  5. Like wearing your best shirt to a bar where there were no women and not having any luck, then changing shirts and going to a different bar where there were a lot of women and you had good luck. Was it the shirt or location?
  6. You probably quoted the wrong person. I bet Tom has done it numerous times. Depending on the steepness of the ramp. I can see it being done easily by pushing it off.
  7. I am WAY more patient with a spinning rig in my hand. I can't make myself slow down enough with casting gear.
  8. I fish EVERYTHING on casting gear, except a drop shot.
  9. Will this show up on a drug test? As a CDL holder, I am subject to random drug tests, but if it would help me sleep, I would give it a shot.
  10. Just tell her she's got this and you are going to fight with her side by side through it all. Be her rock and encourage her. We are all sending you our best. Not a day goes by that I don't see this thread and think about y'all, and I am sure there are others who feel the same.
  11. The last time I posted a site my post was removed, but it's already been mentioned here so I will just say there is a REALLY good one already posted.
  12. I guess I'm confused why $500 is such a big deal for a couple HS kids to have. That has been mentioned more than once in this thread. That's only $250 each. My son just turned 17 and he never asks for a dime. He buys his own gas, food, video games, etc. I am the "adult" on his bank account and I monitor what he spends his money on and he currently has over $3,500 in his account. I know most older people think this generation of teens is worthless, but some of them are hard working productive citizens.
  13. Wow! Incredible!!!!
  14. Well I coached my first JH softball tournament this weekend. We only played one regular season game going into the tournament. These girls have been working super hard and I'm very proud of them. Ended up going 4-1 in the tournament and brought home 3rd place. Not what we hoped for, but we ran into a really good team in the semis who ended up winning it all.
  15. I fished with a guy who posted on here looking for a tournament partner for a lake that I have listed as one of my favorite lakes. I reached out to him and we met and practiced the Saturday before the tourney and then placed 2nd the next Saturday in the tourney. Haven't spoken to him since and not sure he has posted since. LOL
  16. Once again, I try not to speak for everyone, but we are thinking of you and wishing you and your wife the best. If even only through typed words on a fishing forum, one can have sympathy and truly care about someone they interact with. Keep us updated and we hope for nothing but the best.
  17. Got a message a little bit ago telling me they won a little jackpot tourney today. 3 fish limit and they had a touch over 10 lbs. For all I know he could be lying to me, but if true, pretty cool. Not my kids so I blurred their faces.
  18. It was more like a garage sale. Please don't turn me in to the state of Oklahoma. Lol
  19. Honestly, I don't need the money and really wanted to help these guys out. That $500 came from them and not Mommy or Daddy. They both have summer jobs and he had told me they just got paid and wanted to buy some tackle. My son is the same age and has a job and I'm always proud when he buys something with his own money instead of asking me.
  20. Ok, so there is a kid I know that I have taken out a few times to our local lake and tried teaching him how to find cover, structure, pattern fish, etc. Well he had messaged me a couple weeks ago and told me that him and another kid in HS were going to start fishing in the HS tournaments. I told him that I was proud to hear that and if I could help in anyway to please let me know. Well he messaged me today and asked if I had any extra tackle that I would be willing to sell. Well I had 1 HUGE tote full of soft plastics, brand new still in the package, probably 200 bags or so, all different brands. I had another HUGE tote full of crankbaits, some still in the package, there were jigs, chatterbaits, spinnerbaits, weights, hooks, etc. There was enough stuff in these 2 totes to have a fully loaded boat and this was just all my extra stuff. I would guess $3,000 or more worth of tackle. I told him to come out and see what he wanted and we could figure out a price. He told me his partner was coming with him too. My original plan was to let them sort through it all and pick out what they wanted and I was just going to give it to them to get them started. They were blown away at what all was in there. He asked me how much for this, how much for that, etc. I told them to just pick out what they wanted and we would go from there. Well, they just looked and looked and looked and looked. He finally asks, how much for everything, this will fill the boat up. Well this put me in a bind as I really didn't want to give $3,000 worth of tackle away, and ALL of my backup stuff. I told him to just keep getting stuff out that they really want. This goes on and they can't decide so I finally say. Hey, you don't have to pay me it all today. You can make monthly payments or whatever you need to do but I will take $500 for all of it. They started grinning ear to ear and pulled out the cash. I really didn't want them to pay anything but I hated to give ALL my extra tackle away. I would have just gave them 4 or 5 hundred dollars worth. Did I do wrong? Should I have just gave it all to them?
  21. Not to be confused with Redd Fox
  22. Hard to tell the size, but I'm going juvenile fox.
  23. I have a lot of what I assume some people would call "friends". However, I have 3 guys that I would consider my best friends and one of them I would consider a brother. The first 2 guys, we may go a month or more without seeing each other or speaking, but nothing changes once we get together. The other guy, we talk at least a couple times a week and he comes over a few times a month. I've posted this before, but one of my favorite parts /quotes in a movie ever is when Doc Holiday was walking in the creek shooting at the Outlaws and he went back and hid behind the tree and Turkey Creek Johnson was there. Creek ask him, "Doc, why do you do it?'. Doc said "Wyatt Earp is my friend". Creek says "Friend? Hell, I got lot's of friends". To which Doc replies "I don't" BTW, another thing that made me realize these 3 were people I could count on. All 3 were at the hospital the day my son was born. That meant a lot to me.
