  1. I went stir crazy back in November up here in the north. Compound that with a knee surgery which is keeping me off the ice and I am going absolutely bonkers. I made more jigs, spinnerbaits, chatterbaits etc. I reorganized my tackle ... and then re-reorganized it. I am even learning how to tie feathered trebles and flies and I don't even fly fish! A wooly bugger.
  2. UV Speed Worm given to me by FLW Pro John Cox during a charter 4 years ago.
  3. I carry around one of those general first aid kits from WalMart in my backpack. It goes with me regardless if I am fishing the bank, my kayak or a tournament. It has all the typical stuff you would imagine a first aid kit to have. Is there anything else you have added to your kit which was specific to anglers like a hook removal kit of some sort?
  4. Prop baits and flippin' tubes.
  5. Great video. Definitely need to take a 2nd stab at this. Have all my topwater to do this winter so I will post others as they improve. Thanks for all the tips.
  6. Here is my very first attempt. A bit sloppy and the feather seems a bit big but its a start. ?
  7. Popper - Strike King - KVD Splash Jr. Walker - River2Sea rover
  8. I believe they are. The only real difference is the name on the bag.
  9. Bluegill Flash Keitech swimbait on a 3/16 oz Half Moon Head.
  10. rod quality and being a co-angler have nothing to do with one another. Take the necessary precautions to wrap them on long runs and they will hold up just fine. Just don't close the lid of the "co-angler box" on the tips. Not that I would know anything about that ...
  11. Tungsten weights (bullet and drop shot) for less than $3 a pack up here. It does vary from store to store though. Not sure why really.
  12. Thanks ... that helps a ton
  13. I tie jigs as a hobby over the wintertime. I wanted to also begin tying my own feathered treble hooks. I have seen what is online so I get a basic idea about how to make them. Hackle for feathers and some flash (Mylar). What I cannot find is the size of the thread one would use. Can anyone suggest a thread size to use when making these? Does it vary based on the size of the hook? Small thread for #6 trebles vs. bigger thread for #2's for example. Thanks in advance.
  14. My favorite is a drop shot with a finesse shad lure. When they hit that thing they hit it. #2 is topwater #3 is a spinnerbait with a Keitech trailer
  15. Agree ... One might argue that it would have made him even more evil.
  16. Welcome ...
  17. Should work out just fine
  18. Another vote for cheap mono. Baitcasters 10 - 12lb. Spinning 6-8lb mono. I tie a double uni to my new line regardless if it's FC or Braid.
  19. "C" at best if I were to go strictly by tournament ranking standards. Some I did very well but when I sucked I truly sucked. Tournaments got so bad at the end it shook my confidence to an all time low. On the brighter side 1 - I improved my use of electronics (from a yak ... I have no boat). Was able to identify and catch fish on deeper structure/cover discovered using my Lowrance chirp. 2 - Improved my drop shot. Refined my equipment and technique and caught a ton of fish on it last year. 3 - Caught a new personal best nearing 8 lbs. From the BANK no less after dealing with that all time low period. Reminded me why I love fishing so much.
  20. Saw Star Wars twice over the break. I loved it. I am not convinced Han is dead. Han showed subtle signs of having learned the force during the film and if Luke can fall down a shaft like that and survive then maybe he can too. Lightsaber stab was only a flesh would. Lol .
  21. Kcdinkerz covered it. FWIW if you had to choose one find one which optimizes your ability to present a lure like the Zara Spook and use that one.
  22. If you are new to baitcasters begin with a good mono. 12 lb to 15 lb. Once you get the hang of it then I would upgrade to a good quality fluoro. 15lb for all purpose. I use Seaguar InvizX
  23. That will work just fine. Used 15 lb InvizX all of last year with no issues.
  24. @5fishlimit you rock. Definitely did your homework! I especially cant wait to try out the ned rig, drop shot stuff and that hawg sauce.
  25. VMC Half Moon Jig head for me.
