  1. Less impacted by wind than other boats which sit higher above the water.
  2. It may not impact the bite at all. I would start power and slow down if they seem picky. As stated already finesse it if it gets tough
  3. I like them both. I have been using the Sexy Dawg more often lately.
  4. I would go 12 - 15lb fluoro. I use Seaguar InvizX
  5. Especially the Garlic scent.
  6. Yes ... Seems to do just fine for me.
  7. FWIW My first baitcaster was the Abu Silver Max Combo. Inexpensive but a good quality reel. When learning to use it use inexpensive mono 12-15lb test. once you stop backlashing upgrade to fluorocarbon or braid.
  8. Abu Orra SX combo would work for ya! Love mine. http://www.abugarcia.com/products/combos/spinning-reel-combos/orra-s-combo
  9. Funky! Get er wet and tell us how you did.
  10. Congrats!!!
  11. Congrats ... I have yet to experience the frog bite. Looking to try it this season more often.
  12. Have you looked into something like this? Not sure if you have a lowrance but this should work for your Ride 135 SOT. http://www.austinkayak.com/products/8561/Lowrance-Kayak-Scupper-Transducer-Mount.html
  13. I got back into basketball because of my daughters who are playing in leagues and love it. I enjoy watching Miami. It reminds me of the Jordan Bulls era. when they were winning championships to some degree. With that said I wouldn't mind a Spurs win. Those "old guys" are playing their best ball and deserve a championship. Lebron and co. will have other changes beyond this series IMO. Side note: Jordan over LeBron
  14. No ... they don't float from my experience. Working the lure will keep the tail up and "limply" fall down. That is part of the allure IMO.
  15. They obviously haven't fished Rouses Point on the VT/NY side of the border. I was up there this past Sunday and boy, oh boy did we have our fair share of very good size bass. Were they all 3+ lbs ... no but a decent amount were right up there. Funny because my boater and I ran into a Canadian pair of bass fishermen practicing for a tournament there in two weeks. We stopped and chatted with them for a while and they were more interested in our experiences fishing Ticonderoga and the "legendary big bass" down there than in the area we were in. They were extremely friendly and certainly didn't seem to convey that same attitude.
  16. Senko or finesse worm on a mojo rig or shakey head. Hard to beat those 2.
  17. As a co-angler I do a ton of observation on the bodies of water that we fish. I just began helping out a boater who is new to tournaments and these bodies of water. All of my suggestions were already covered but I will second them ... 1 - Don't over complicate the situation. If you have been fishing for a while then you will know what is "fishy". Test them our and let experience be your guide. 2 - Get a map. On a large body of water this is important. Get your bearings and use it as a reference around the lake. I buy those fishing maps. When we were lost this weekend this came in handy to find our way back to the launch. ** Another note on those fishing maps. You can certainly try those spots but there were a TON of spots not marked that we tested in preparation for a tournament that held very nice bass. Don't live by those maps. Just use them as you see fit and trust in #1 3 - Learn your vessel. Fishing is one thing. Fishing while controlling the trolling motor, the depth you are fishing, the boat position in wind, current etc. is a whole other ballgame! At first keep it extremely simple with the fishing and master your boat. Once you have that handy the fishing will take care of itself. Boy I wish I were in your shoes ... I see co-angling in my future for quite some time before I end up in a boat.
  18. Just curious. When you have a hook (regular, treble or otherwise) that is too dull and you need to get rid of it how do you go about doing it?
  19. LOL ... those are my two favorites too. nice!
  20. Yes ... When I want to cover more water I have treated a senko as a jerkbait and caught a ton of bass that way. Especially great in the shallows through weeds, lily pads etc. I always thought there should be a stick which had a fluke tail. Zoom finally did it last year with their fluke stick. http://zoombait.com/2013/08/the-new-zoom-fluke-stick/
  21. My new favorite lures carried by DSG is the Rage Cut-R worm. It is a "swimming worm" but it's heavy enough to treat as a Senko. When the tail get's bit off I save it to treat as a senko when I want to slow down. Can't forget my Fat Baby Finesse worms on a shakey head or Mojo setup.
  22. Technically a snell knot will work on any hook. I personally only use it on "flippin hooks" with a keeper.
  23. Already said. The issue isn't the reel. My setup is 6'6" MH rod, Abu Silver Max and 15lb mono. I primarily fish the chrome Sexy Dawg with no issues. The only change was Mustad hooks. Wait to feel the bass pulling and then set the hook. Keep plugging away at it!
  24. When you are constantly on this site trying to absorb as much "bass-knowledge" as possible.
