  1. I am looking to maximize my ability to paddle longer distances on my Kayak to cover more water fishing. This may sound like a seriously noob question but in terms of body positioning what is ideal to get the most out of every stroke. To help clarify there are two factors in particular which I am getting mixed information on ... 1 - Paddle length. 2 - My body position in relation to the center of the boat. I run a Wilderness System Ride 115x if that helps. Thanks a ton for the tips. Felix
  2. Here is another video I found ...
  3. Woo Hoo ... I likey ... can't wait to find them.
  4. Looking to invest in a new toy this spring. The Hydrowave Mini. Have looked online and read some articles about it. Wondering in anyone in this community has used it on their boat or Yak?
  5. I can definitely appreciate risk/reward in tournament angling but some risks are just NOT worth taking. IMO this is one of them.
  6. To me it's more like "if it isn't broken ... don't fix it". When I first got into tournament angling I took a charter and he was using all Abu Garcia reels. When I started my collection I began buying Abu and it has become my primary. With that said I also own 2 BassPro Pro Qualifiers and a Shimano Citica because the deals were just too good to pass on them. I love them all. Especially my Abu's
  7. Just got a pack of 12lb Gliss to test out. I didn't realize how small it was. Definitely going to try on spinning gear to see how it works out.
  8. Currently haven't caught one since last November. Gotta get out and get me some.
  9. One line forever ... 15lb Seaguar InvizX
  10. Toss up between green pumpkin and black. The edge would need to go to Green Pumpkin now that you made me think of it. Can always dip the tips in Chartreuse.
  11. I tried an UL and found myself losing fish when reel setting. Reverted back to a Medium and that stopped. FWIW ... I use a #1 VMC spinshot and braid to FC via an Alberto knot.
  12. I personally don't buy expensive rods (> $100). I typically hunt for "last season" rods which are less than $100. If it upgrades a rod which I currently own then I buy it. My collection currently consists of Skeet Reese, Abu Garcia and Rhapsody (local club manufacturer). Works for me.
  13. Will do ... Fight hard Dwight!!
  14. I do when I can. If I think something is too expensive I just don't buy it. Friendly people and customer service go a long way. On more than one occasion I bought something merely because my experience there was worth the support regardless of price. Felix
  15. The NY Bass Nation is also sponsored by them. I picked up 2 of the new C-Force Spinning reels to upgrade what I had. They look slick. Hoping they work as well when I actually get them out on the water.
  16. Another vote for black or white. White if I had only one choice. As for a spawn bait ... I love throwing a finesse tube and drag them on beds.
  17. The closest REAL BassPro (not an Outpost) is 3 hours away for me. After last years major disappointment I decided to never go out of my way for their events. Coming in early to buy ProQualifiers which were on sale they were sold out within the hour of opening. It wasn't as if the place was very crowded yet and found it extremely hard to believe. Felt like too much of a bait and switch tactic to me.
  18. I have two goals for 2016 ... 1 - Kayak different bodies of water. Got stuck in one lake which on occasion produced fish. Need to explore more 2 - Lipless CB's. Made it a goal to have one tied on all next season to learn the subtleties of it.
  19. 4 of my favorite techniques. Never tried it on a drop shot or flipping. Something else to try in 2016.
  20. I have been fishing seriously going on 5 years now. My 1st 2 were strictly on the bank with the exception of the tournaments I fished as a co-angler. The last two I toggled between bank beating and a kayak. IMO from a fishing standpoint there is no difference. You still need to assess the conditions and adjust your presentations accordingly. Since presentations are situation specific that is why I feel like there is no "real" difference. I highly doubt a forum section dedicated to bank fishing is going to help me with my balance on a fallen tree or with tips on how to slide down a steep bank to get to a spot. For that I watch Survivorman or Bear Grylls.
  21. That was one wild ride last night. Was I the only one worried about the fishing on that lake at the end of the episode. LMAO
  22. I prefer a spinning outfit for finesse jigs. FWIW my setup 7' Medium spinning Reel - 15lb PowerPro with 8-10lb FC Leader.
  23. Most of my fishing is from a kayak. For the record I have marked plenty of fish deeper but have yet to get them to bite anything other than finesse baits. If I try the crank through the area and fail I have caught them on a drop shot. So I know they are there. It really boils down to the lakes you are fishing and if the fish in that lake ever get active at depths that deep. I struggled with this the past two years. Like you I have only caught fish as deep as 10 FOW using crankbaits. Mine were on a KVD 1.5 Flat. While I have fished deeper cranks I have yet to catch fish using it. I'm not going to quit though.
