  1. Thanks ... I don't blame you ... that is my concern. The 115 is listed at 75 pounds right at the edge. The 135 is 82lbs. Guess the only way to know is to try it and see how it fits.
  2. Anyone using one of these to carry around a larger kayak like the Ride 115x. I was considering getting this so that I can transport 2 kayaks when doing family camping or fishing with a buddy. Based on the specs it's right at the edge of fitting.
  3. I am a brand *****! While I do experiment with other brands from time to time I tend to stick to a single brand for consistency sake where applicable ... For example VMC for hooks Strike King for crankbaits, Sexy Dawg Megastrike - Spinnerbaits and BuzzBaits
  4. Amen to that!
  5. Feel the exact same way ... Hooks is where it gets interesting. I have been able to carry on 4/0 hooks. I had a pack of Gamakatsu's which I threw in my bag. Meant to put it in my carry on. Went through fine. Did it on the way back as well just to "test the waters" and again I was able to go through. I am not brave (stupid) enough to test a whole plano worth of stuff. FWIW - If it is a small trip I try to find the nearest WalMart, BassPro etc. and buy the minimum I need while I am there in terms of hooks. Worst thing that will happen is that they confiscate the hooks. Plastics and weights are zero issues. Good luck on your trip!
  6. I am working on my Alberto. Have zero confidence in it so I tend to use it when I am "fun fishing" until I gain confidence in it. Have a ton of confidence in the uni to uni right now.
  7. Just recently converted my spinning rigs to 15# braid. Use either an 8 or 10 lb leader as needed. Love using a leader.
  8. I am wrapping up my 3rd tournament season and I can say that the more experienced I get the more I try to adhere to the K.I.S.S. principle for tournaments. For fun fishing days I don't mind experimenting and actually enjoy the process of analyzing and tinkering with my tackle to entice fish with different techniques, colors etc.
  9. I travel quite often for work. I can't speak to the rods. I have a set of 3 piece travel rods which I use when I take trips. I am able to carry them on with me with ease. As for reels I also carry them on with line and all. I have never had a problem to and from my locations.
  10. I have experienced my fair share of "claiming a spot" moments like this both from the bank and during tournaments. Some people are just downright stupid. Not worth fighting over ... I just move on.
  11. The web is the best source by far. I am also a big fan of the Bass Pros DVD series available on BassPro. I own all 8 seasons and watch them every winter when I can't fish. http://www.basspro.com/Bass-Pro-Shops-The-Bass-Pros:-Season-8-DVD-2Disc-Set/product/1406131126/
  12. http://www.nybassfed.com/Data/Membership/Join.htm Have a few options
  13. I love learning new knots ... this is a new one. So when you tie the spider hitch how do you recommend tying the leader to the newly formed doubled up braid? Are you suggesting a uni to uni at that point?
  14. Tried it ... hated it ... I use this instead
  15. Was thinking the same thing ...
  16. I have been able to find them is resealable bags (see pic) but it is a rare find. I have no clue why they don't always do this ...
  17. For me it's about covering water to find them. I use a spinnerbait to find them and then slow down once I get a sense that there is fish in the area.
  18. All, For those who use the uni to uni to tie braid to a FC leader. I tend to do 7 loops on either end and it holds up well for me. Wondering what others do.
  19. I agree ... Hard to get a gauge as to how good the Niners are going to be from this game for sure.
  20. The Giants play tonight. I just hope they look more like the Eagles did yesterday in the 2nd half than Washington or Dallas did all day. Otherwise it is going to be a LONG, LONG season ...
  21. I use a 6'6" MH for the Sexy Dawg and Jr. versions with no issues. Pair it up with a 7x:1 reel and some 15lb Mono and you are good to go.
  22. Wouldn't book with this guy ... #1 - As mentioned I would hate to book and commit the hours just to get bumped last minute. #2 - I think being fully booked sounds like BS, especially with the bump post. How do I know if he is already booked?! ... could be lying just to get more $$ on every request.
  23. My one and only guide experience included a veteran of the FLW Tour. He fished to try to find them. In hindsight he worked extremely hard to find the fish that day and made my experience very memorable. I guess it depends on their intent with the fishing. If they just throw you a lure and then go ahead to fish completely ignoring you then I would have a problem too.
