  1. Rod: 7'6" Heavy Reel: Abu Ambassadeur 5x:1 ratio Line: 50lb Braid MIN I love using the Flash Mob and Mob Jr. with 4 small swimbaits around the perimeter and a larger in the middle. I generally start with white baits although colors can vary based on your locale.
  2. Shad shape worm dream shot roboworm
  3. IMO one isn't more successful than the other. With that said I tend to catch lmb with skirted (jig and craw) and smb with skirtless (ikas, hula grubs etc.). Not sure why.
  4. Location is key. If you are around them that is easily 60% of the equation. Followed by their mood and finally quality presentations. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
  5. $100 is going to be very tough. You need to get lucky in Craigslist.
  6. Aloha! Boy I wish I was there right now.
  7. x2
  8. x2. With 4 girls there is a hair tie lying around somewhere. I even have my pick of neon colors.
  9. I own the 115x and I guess I disagree with this to some degree. Is it the fastest kayak out there ... no ... and if that is what you are measuring the kayak against on a big lake then I would agree. You cannot cover as much water in a big lake versus a small lake in this yak. But in every other way I have found my 115x to be suitable on bigger lakes. It seems to remain stable even in white caps and wind.
  10. ... and I thought this was a New York Giants thread ...
  11. No need IMO. I fish from a kayak a ton and there are very few things which warrant a different section altogether IMO. Those topics which were "Kayak specific" were answered without a need for a separate section.
  12. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/38001-kvd-line-conditioner-or-real-magic/ First result on Google.
  13. Reel Magic is oil based and according to research can actually weaken line over time. The oil also tends to get everywhere and attract dirt which can get into some gnarly places. KVD is polymer based and actually bonds with the line. I put it on when I respool and then the night before each tournament. Works great.
  14. I have tried them both ... Started with Reel Magic because that is what was available to me locally. One day on this forum pointed me to KVD's and once I tried it there was no turning back .... much better results with KVD.
  15. Black and Gold Gitzit dragged on the bottom.
  16. Exactly ... I found it to be the opposite ... They strike with a vengeance. So much so that they barely give US a fighting chance. Freakin' rip the rod right out of your hand ... LOL
  17. I do a few things to keep warm fishing in cold temperatures. Besides the suggestions above ... 1 - Fishing gloves & toe warmers. There are a few out there. I was able to get Abu Garcia ones for $8 on eBay. I buy the toe warmers because they have an adhesive backing. I stick them to the back of my hand. The warmth spreads through the glove and lasts for hours. Obviously works well for your feet too. 2 - Waterproof socks - Over regular athletic socks this keeps water out and warmth in. Works better to me than thick socks. 3 - Rain gear. Not just for rain IMO. My bib and jacket when added to a good layering of clothing keeps me real warm. 4 - Ninja mask ... LOL ... I don't recall what these are called but they are coverings for the head which covers your face including your nose. Very warm. Kids called me a ninja when I put it on and that is why it sticks. 5 - Can't take credit for this one but don't recall who posted it. Back warmers put on your back before the layers. Keeps you warm for hours. I don't do this one often but it does work.
  18. Yup ... especially this time of year.
  19. I had this debate with a friend before the game. They thought the game was a gimme for Dallas. Fun to watch. I picked the Redskins to upset.
  20. I guess it is all relative. When I am in my kayak I prefer the smaller lakes and ponds. Allows me to cover a lot of water and decipher the code of the day a little easier. On a boat I easily prefer the larger lakes and rivers. Much more challenging and helps me prepare for tournaments. If I am stuck using my 2 feet then I don't have much choice ... pond or accessible reservoir is my #1.
  21. I don't know if "routine" is what I would call what I do. Regardless it changes often. I love to tinker and try new things all the time!
  22. Amazing review ... best I have ever seen. I bought one new and just received my 2nd used one. Looks like it won't be my last
