In that price range I love the Ascend sit in yak from BassPro.
Was fortunate to be able to buy the Wilderness 115x but if I was limited I would have bought this.
Drop vs. Split shot ... IMO they serve different purposes based on conditions. In and around grass I prefer the split shot. Edges, open water, smaller baits .... The DS.
For the record I prefer the mojo over the split shot. Snags less in weeds IMO.
This pretty much sums it up. Adding my 2-cents ... I tend to use 2 trailers. A fluke type trailer when a more subtle action is preferred. Something like the Rage Menage or Craw when you need some more "noise".
I still tend to fish spinnerbaits more often than a chatterbait. Sometimes they just prefer one vs. the other.
I will say that in dirty shallow water I have more success with a black/blue chatterbait vs a colorado spinnerbait. Go figure
May things are still generally slow but you can certainly fish. My clubs annual pike tournament is in May much farther north if that tells you anything.
Yup ... found a video which does a decent job of describing what he is doing.
I have had success with very short leaders (aka Zero-shotting I believe) up to about 6 inches. After that it gets difficult to manage from the bank unless you are in an open area.
Good luck
