  1. Love this ... I also use the lka but this is another nice alternative. I can also think of adding a rattle along with the egg sinker to turn up the volume. Can't wait to try.
  2. I am no Pats fan ... far from it but I believe that there is some degree of cheating across the entire NFL. They just suck as keeping it under wraps.
  3. I have heard two philosophies on this ... Would be curious if you heard the same ... 1 - "Stretch" in the line provides some forgiveness when a bass strikes a treble bait. This allows you an increased probability of hooking the bass merely because the forgiveness provides a brief moment longer to swallow the bait. 2 - "Sensitivity/forgiveness" ... focuses on the rods ability to absorb the impact and via it's flex it offers that brief moment longer to swallow the bait as well. I am with you I think ... the principle I like to follow is that you have enough "feel" to sense what the CB is doing. That can be done with numerous combinations of line and rod/reel combinations. I personally prefer straight FC and a relatively parabolic M rod. I see no reason why braid with the proper rod couldn't give you the same result. Maybe even Braid with a FC leader.
  4. I woke up to nothing BUT it's snowing like hell and building. Is it the blizzard they suspected ... NO but I still got to go outside and plow the freakin driveway later.
  5. 50 Braid for Flippin' 12lb FC for Crankbaits
  6. You rock Hootie! Bottom line you are spot on!
  7. My trip to Charlotte, NC was cancelled. Now waiting for the "Storm of a lifetime"
  8. Nice ... let's go!
  9. Went back last night ... a friend got 2 field and stream elite rods for less than $45. 6'10" MH Spinnerbait rods. I racked up on Lucky Craft pointers for less than $6.50 each and a bunch of Missile baits at $1.50 each. They are truly clearing out ... WOW!
  10. This my 3rd full winter since getting "hooked" on fishing ... Here is my "winter list" ... 1 - Learn more - Catch up on reading, fishing shows. I record them and collect the magazines during the season. I read them when I travel for work and over the winter. I also buy at least 1 book to learn more. 2 - This site ... nuf said there. 3 - Fishing related hobbies. - I LOVE making jigs from scratch. Pour, paint, skirt. I also make spinnerbaits, buzzbaits, swim jigs and chatterbaits. I mess around with small batches when I feel like it at night OR on the weekend. 4 - Organize tackle. Like my entire tacklebag from scratch. 5 - NEW - Learning to tie bucktail jigs. Just because. Honestly ... this covers me for a lot of "down time" NOT fishing. It does not replace it but I found joy/satisfaction in doing this stuff and even more pleasure in catching with the stuff. Good luck! I truly feel your pain!!!
  11. So excited. The bait monkey landed me a few of these. Just have to wait for the thaw to use them.
  12. Racked up on eco pro tungsten drop shot weights. $2 each.
  13. I use all the swimbaits. I definitely want to try the new craw as well. The only challenge is that my local DSG carries them.
  14. VMC of course ... maybe it's Trokar.
  15. Reorganizing tackle, making more jigs from scratch than I will ever use, learning to tie bucktail jigs. In between crying and the occasional fishing show.
  16. I use mine for all those applications.
  17. After my team is out I look for exciting games. Like that sick Packers/Seahawks game.
  18. Information Systems Manager.
  19. Anything with JJ's on it. The smell reminds me of some great Italian restaurants I have gone to. Now I want pizza!
  20. Yes. Started with reel magic which didn't seem to do anything about the memory. Did some research and discovered this two years ago. I was skeptical but after 2 full seasons with it I don't leave home without it. It saves me from responding as much as I used to.
  21. Knowing the result before you watch certainly kills the excitement but I still enjoy the shows. Look to learn what I can from it.
  22. Great hobby. I pour, paint and skirt over the winter. Make way moreally than I think I will ever go through. My quality beats basic retail store jigs IMO that's for sure.
  23. This ... just explained this same thing to a friend last week.
  24. I assume when you say flat eye you are referring to the line tie being more in front of the jig. My guess is that works better for a dragging presentation vs. The vertical line tie. That can be dragged but lifts the butt of the tube up when you do that. The other keeps the butt down more. Personally I have caught on both but did notice the difference playing with jig heads I own.
