  2. FWIW ... I bought the 4x last year for my yak and love it. I have played with the 3x @ BassPro and it seems to have a lot of the same features but in a smaller package. Head over to the BassPro in Auburn and play with both. You will know quickly if you will like it. Take into consideration how far you will be from the screen. Take the steps back at the store and compare the two. Good luck ...
  3. I enjoy his show. One in particular stood out and that is the one where he is in Ukraine chasing after the "Dangerous Soom" (spelling is off I am sure). Well my wife happens to be from Ukraine. She also happened to be in the living room when he mentioned the term. She looks at me and said ... Catfish ... really ?!?! She goes on to explain that he is chasing a catfish that her family had fished for and ate. Her sarcastic remark to how dangerous it was made me cry with laughter. He ends the show catching that dangerous catfish. Guess my wife was right. LMAO.
  4. Those two videos helped me begin my quest with the drop shot. In practice however you need to make sure you have solid contact with the bottom IMO. Aaron talks about using a 1/8oz weight. For me and my setup I find that I barely feel a thing using 1/8oz unless I am very shallow. For that I use something like a mojo rig or wacky senko. Last year was a solid breakthrough for me when I began adding more weight more often. Once I could truly feel bottom the game changed for me. It's one of my favorites now.
  5. Welcome
  6. He's on Toledo Bend and basically summed up what Bighead and I did for 3 days. LOL
  7. I tend to use beavers for flipping and pitching over a senko. When in light grass or dragging something I would use the senko. Frankly both would work using both techniques but this is how I generally would fish them.
  8. The lowest I go right now is 8lb test FC. I intend to practice way more with 6lb to see if I can gain confidence in that # test.
  9. Same lure 4 different presentations given the conditions. 15lb Smackdown, 8lb Invizx FC Finesse Worm Drop shot Mojo Rig Shakey Head Weightless when very shallow
  10. FWIW ... I tried this line twice. Once when it 1st came out and the second this past year just in case my original purchase was a fluke. It does cast like a dream but seems to fray way to easy for me. It also doesn't seem to hold a leader as well as other lines. I currently am testing out PowerPro SuperSlick and Seaguar Smackdown. Love both.

  13. Tequila ... << everybody sing >> Saw these at Cabelas ... Was very impressed. Looks like it could fit under a bed. It also comes in a tandem 3-piece. The cool thing about that is that you can take the front and back piece to make a 1 person yak like you see above.
  14. X 10 on this one. Sharon ... You rocked!
  15. I tend to carry 4 sizes - 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, 3/4 oz. Up north I have been successful pounding the bottom with a heavier jig (3/4oz) even in some shallow water. There are times however when rate of fall is critical and thus the other sizes. I tend to start at a 1/2oz 99% of the time and work up/down from there given the conditions of the day.
  16. Cadman and Mike (Siebert Outdoors) both sold me unpainted, poured heads when I got started. I bought paint, weedguards and skirts and went at it for a while ... When my friend bought the mold I bought the lead and now we have a fun wintertime activity. Maybe start with just paint and skirt. From there you can decide if you want to invest further. Don't fool yourself into thinking that you will save money in making them yourself. I do love it though ... fun to come up with funky colored skirts that no one else has out there.
  17. To me it's simple ... if it was clearly documented and they meet the expectations set by their post then they did their part. If you expected anything else then that is on you. Now if you don't get it in the timeframe they promised then you have all the right in the world to complain.
  18. Since learning about the Mojo-Rig from Glenn I have one tied on almost every time I go fish. I use it to cover grass like his video describes. I also use it in open flat areas when in less than 10 FOW. I even experimented with swimming a keitech behind it. Just flat out works for everything except close target situations BUT if I could find a way to flip it I probably would too. LOL
  19. Not sure where on Toledo Bend Mike "Ike" is but he just posted this on FB 35 minutes ago. An 8 lb er.
  20. jc ... quite the opposite. Getting stuck in the cold will have the opposite effect! Partly why I got in the trouble I got into with my weight. Stay down there where the food is spicy and the fishing is constant. That will keep you thinner. Trust me!
  21. Welcome from another upstater.
  22. I did .... lost 110 pounds over the past year ... feel great! Surgery (Gastric Sleeve) + typical diet and exercise stuff.
  23. Traveled a total of 14 hours (2+ hours driving, 2 airplanes) to get back. Would do it all over again!
