  1. LOL ... Agree 100% ... I mean their lures have some of the kinkiest names on the market ...The Flirt, Big Unit, Boom Boom etc.
  2. IMO bass get conditioned in the moment. After seeing the first lure for numerous catches on a lure the bite will die. Sometimes changing colors or add scent and the bite will generally come back on. If you then leave and come back in an hour sometimes its like fishing it brand new. Of course there are exceptions but that's been my experience.
  3. If I am back there I will certainly look it up. Thanks.
  4. Sure. The book is by Bill Murphy In Pursuit of Giant Bass. He describes the technique in detail. I was tinkering with that when I got this bite.
  5. The foam is extremely buoyant. I experimented with that boob rig using foam in my fish tank. Haven't tried it for real yet.
  6. Don't they call that the boob rig or something like that? I was actually fishing ponds around the Grapevine Lake area. I even tried some bank fishing on the Lake but got skunked.
  7. Lol. I was kind of playing with the title. It was the floating worm part which I had never heard of. By the way... I used MegaStrike on that worm. I am writing up a report on my week and I am convinced it helped. I even have a pic of the pale white bass I caught.
  8. I used a #3. Inspired by the stitching technique I read about.
  9. Something I wanted to keep secret but this forum has been such a help to me that I felt I needed to share. So everyone ... please keep this a secret? We can call it the Bass Resrouce Rig. LOL
  10. It's an awesome finesse technique. I'm glad I thought of it (at the moment at least) LOL
  11. Essentially yes. The only twist was the vertically floating lure. If you google both you will see them described as different rigs though.
  12. Over this past week I was in Dallas fishing. There was a severe cold front +20MPH winds which came through on the weekend which made for some very, very tough fishing. In my efforts to try anything to catch a fish I resorted to something a little different. The rig itself is a split shot rig ... so that's not new. What was different was the use of a floating finesse worm on it. An Elaz-Tech worm to be specific The result was a presentation that I have never seen or heard of before. The split shot was about 9 inches from the worm and the worm was rigged on a 3/0 EWG lightwire hook. The worm was suspended straight up and down. A little tug gave the worm a twitch/wobble just like a wacky senko but instead of it twitching horizontally it twitched vertically. Well fished slowly it caught me the one and only bass that day. It was pale, pale white but it bit it. Thought I would share ...
  13. I am a non-boater and tried the spare spool thing last year. It took alot more time than I thought to swap it out when I wanted to try something different. The only time it came in handy was when I backlashed bad in one tournament. I messed with it for a few minutes, gave up and replaced the spool and was back fishing in no time. This year I am going to forego the backup spool for a backup reel already spooled.
  14. x3 ... For bigger worms like you mentioned I use a 7' MH, 20lb FC with either a 3/8 or 1/2oz weight.
  15. The Next KVD has some good points. In addition to determining what mood the fish are in is determining where they are (depth) and bait color. For depth I keep things simple (1-2-3) Here's an example using soft plastics in about 10 feet of water. 1 - Top of the water column. - Zoom Fluke weightless or light swimbait hook. Twitch it along for an hour to cover the top 5 feet of the water column. 2 - Middle of the water column - Zoom Swimming Super Fluke. 1/4oz round ball jighead or darter. Cover the middle of the column. Somewhere in between 5-7 feet deep. 3 - Bottom of the water column - Shakey Head and a Zoom Finesse Worm. 1/4oz. Drag and hop it along the bottom. As for color that's also subjective but I try and keep that simple too. If I can see >2 feet = Green Pumpkinish type baits otherwise Junebug/Black If it's sunny I may go a shade or 2 lighter. If it's cloudy I go a shade or 2 darker. So for example: I can see in >2 feet and it's sunny then I lean more towards the watermelons. If it's cloudy I go towards the purples and black. Hope I didn't confuse you too much.
  16. I have a few which I bought over the winter. All YUM 1 - Ultralight Tri - The tiny one. Plan to use small grubs on it and fish it instead of my spinnerbait sometimes. 2 - Flash Mob Jr 5 wire - for swimbaits and grubs too. When allowed to throw it 3 - Flash Mob Jr 3 wire - Same as #2 but when I can't throw the 5 wire.
  17. Congrats buddy ... Always feels good to get your 1st of the season.
  18. It's great to read that it was released after it was official.
  19. Take pliers and open up the hook a little bit.
  20. Looking to dedicate a rod to drop shotting and I am torn between rods and length and flex (M, ML). What do you recommend?
  21. They also sell keepers which will allow you to hook the weight and then tighten it up. The rubber band works well. My rod has an open keeper. This allows me to hold the weight and tighten up as usual.
  22. x2... and if the senko doesn't get them a weightless finesse worm will. This is my 1-2-3 approach to a lake.
  23. I agree there isn't much of an advantage IMO. Just trying to answer their question. My fishfinder from the bank is a spinnerbait and finesse worm (shakey head). If they aren't biting that then I assume they aren't there and move on.
