  1. Got mine ... hang in there.
  2. I know that you are allowed 2 hooks on an Alabama Rig on Lake Champlain. If anyone does do this which 2 wires do you put the hooks on?
  3. I have the 5 wire and 3 wire versions. Dying to get out and fish with it.
  4. Wow ... alot of great "Grub" to absorb. Thanks.
  5. Their grub does look nice. The 4/0 isn't too big?
  6. If so what grub? What color? What jighead and size hook? Thanks
  7. You are a blessed man. I am lucky to get the weekends I do with 4 kids running around. At this point I need to get at least 2 out of the house to afford the boat I want.
  8. Describes it perfectly! Lol
  9. I'm with you. Mine was 13. None were even 2lbs.
  10. Has anyone try this crazy looking topwater bait? There isn't even video's of it online anywhere. Curious about it effectiveness. Thanks
  11. Last weekend I had my first taste of fishing a football jig. I caught 3 good size fish in less than an hour on that thing. It's addicting! I will be doing way more jig fishing in 2013!
  12. I saw an episode where his "fight" kept switching from a baitcaster to a spinning rod/reel setup. I thought I was crazy until I caught a rerun of it. LOL
  13. If you know there is fish in there then take it as a challenge. I have a lake very close to home which gets a ton of pressure. It's less than 10 minutes from home so it's convenient to run over there and get a good hour or 2 of fishing when I want after work. When I walk out of there having caught fish I feel like a champ! When I get skunked I make sure and learn something to apply the next time.
  14. I have had zero success with a fluke. This is inspiring me to give it a shot again. Thanks.
  15. I wouldn't consider myself experienced enough to comment on this with one exception. Sensitivity is a big factor in finesse fishing especially with with lighter lures. I have a $50 setup and a $200 setup and when fishing a shakey head I can feel a whole lot more with the $200 setup. Boy this sounds a lot like the old "Is a $400 driver really going to make you a better golfer" debate. Very interesting feedback from you all.
  16. Rod/Reel: 6'6" MM Spinning Abu Garcia Line: 10lb PowerPro Braid with 8lb Seaguar Red Label Fluoro Head: Megastrike e2 Finesse Worm: Strike King Finesse Worm (Green Pumpkin) OR Zoom Finesse
  17. Thanks guys ... I need to revisit the lure the next time I am out on the water. As far as I can tell it's "tuned". Just need to work on the retrieve speed and try some of the other things suggested.
  18. I enjoy watching River Monsters. I am posting because I had a particularly fun episode watching the latest one which took place in the Ukraine. My wife is from the Ukraine and took an interest in the show so we watched it together. Note she never watches my shows. Especially if it has to do with fishing ... What made this one so much fun was that fact that she understood everything the natives were saying. Some moments worth sharing with all of you ... 1) When he finally gets a name for the monster ... The "Somm". My wife yells out "It's a freakin' catfish! We eat them all the time!". Somm apparently is catfish in her dialect. Her reaction was priceless. 2) When the Ukranian is describing the fish Jeremy Wade said something like it's 8 feet long and over 200 pounds. According to my wife the guy actually said 6 feet and 120lbs. 3) When he finally says "It's a Wales Catfish" ... she shouts out "Duh!" Priceless episode because I got the inside scoop from a native. LOL. I wonder how other episode's compare after this experience.
  19. 1) Playboy 2) Abu Garcia 3) VMC 4) Strike King 5) Seaguar I just want to get to the mansion at least once. LOL
  20. 1/4, 3/8, 1/2oz.
  21. The more stained the water the larger the profile. Don't underestimate what a Smallmouth can eat. Their not a LMB but they can haul in almost anything you are going to throw at them. To answer your question specifically I have thrown as large as a Zoom Trick Worm for finesse at them.
  22. Keep at it buddy. Sometimes you get a stretch of days like this. As crazy as this sounds don't think about catching fish per-se but think about working the lure properly. Practicing how you are fishing the lure will help you not only master that lure but teach you the subtle feel of the lure. When there is a difference it could mean a bass. Maybe this will make you feel better ... Yesterday I was out fishing and my buddy was catching them on one lure. No matter what I threw I couldn't catch a thing. He asked if I wanted to try his lure. I said sure and we switched rods. Within 10 casts he caught a fish on MY setup. What a kick in the YOU KNOW WHERE! You just have to love fishing ... sometimes you are just not meant to catch em'
  23. I have 5 in my co-angler toolbox. Out of those 5 only 3 are "necessities". The other two are to have other techniques tied for the day. 1 - 6'6" MH Baitcaster - 15lb FC - Jigs, Spinnerbaits, Chatterbaits and a lot more 2 - 7' MM Baitcaster - 10lb FC - Treble hook lures 3 - 6'6" MH Spinning - 10lb Braid - All softplastics, light t-rig, tube fishing etc. 4 - another spinning 7' MM for a complimentary finesse (usually drop shot. Can also fish all the #3's in a pinch) 5 - 7'MH Baitcaster - 20lb FC - For those not so light moments. (Frog etc. Can also fish all the #1's in a pinch)
  24. The first FC I started with. Quickly moved to others. Seaguar Invizx is my favorite now. If you need a cheaper FC try their red label.
