  1. The only thing I personally WONT use it for, hta I can think of off the bat, is clear water deep worm fishing. Ive been know to thrown braid with a leader worm fishing
  2. I would have to agree to disagree, I use them with several topwater applications for better action and hook sets, as well a pitching/flipping matted grass, even wood. Heck, my favorite application for braid is 20# Power Pro on spinning tackle, with 12-14# Fluorocarbon leader (2, 2.5 ft) for throwing a fluke. Get way better action, with the soft jerkbait dropping faster at the end, and the hooksets are reel sets!
  3. the $69 dollar Power Diesel is not really a flipping rod/stick IMO. It's probably a nice stiffer rod, but they have a flipping rod line that is in the $160 range. When I think Flipping Rod/Stick, I think HVY action IMHO
  4. want to see what the forum has to offer up before I reveal what applications I sue braid for, but I do use it a good bit.. No let here em! lol
  5. I have two ProQ's a 6 gear and 7 gear, love them both! Almost bought another one for $79.00 when they had them on sale, but for $99 to ProQ is awesome! Just bought this one and looking for anyone that has used or currently used one...http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/120949-bps-tournament-pro-any-formercurrent-users/
  6. Cant wait to throw my SK Sexy Dawg or my Super Spook, one knocker on this rod!
  7. As far as I know they don't make these anymore, but picked one up NIB on eBay (Springfield, MO of all places) for $75. Just wanted to see the feedback the forum might have on this reel and how it compares to the BPS Pro Qualifier, which I have two of and love them! Here's the specs and pic 10-Stainless Steel Bearing System 6.3:1 High Speed Gear Ratio PowerLock Instant Anti-Reverse Super Lightweight Recurved Handle Lightweight Double Anodized Aluminum Vented Wiffle Spool Star Drag System Titanium Nitride Line Guide Centrifugal & Magnetic Dual Braking System Easy Access Side Cover Right Handed Line Cap: 10lb/130yds-12lb/120yds-14lb/80yds
  8. Nice Video, either way, I think I made a good selection and only paying $70, brand new online. My stronger* points are t-rigging and top-water, mainly spook style baits, chuggers and buzz/swimming frogs. I think this rod will be a great T-Rig and Walk the dog, open water topwater, applications. Thanks for the advice guys! I also purchased at the same time, on eBay, a NIB BPS Tournament Pro, 6:4:1, from Springfield, MO, lol. I've never seen one and the specs are nice for the money. I've got a couple BPS Pro Qs and love them, and from my understanding they are either the same, spec wise, or a notch above in the old BPS lineup. If you've used a BPS Tournament Pro, let me know what you think!
  9. top water, crazy shad
  10. That's what I bought it for and thanks for the validations! lol
  11. got an Abu Garcia Veritas 6'9" MH w/ Micro Guides for cheap, brand new. What would be the best application in the forums mind for this Rod?
  12. Wal-Mart had about 40-50 in different colors, $1 a piece, saw them this AM...Is it worth going back?
  13. Simple, yet sounds effective, I'll have to give this one a try!
  14. I caught this one on sale at Dick's for $39.99 and I like it...http://www.dickssportinggoods.com/product/index.jsp?productId=11419314&gsidynamic=GooglePLA-_-TACKLE-_-TACKLE-_-SKU-9920759&camp=CSE:GooglePLA:11419314:9920759:TACKLE- My only complaint is the zipper pulls are just cheap/thin string, with a plastic tab. After6 months of use the tab and the string has pulled off and actual braided some hemp sections with a bead on the end to connect directly to the zipper loop. Besides that it's great. Bottom holds 4 regular size Plano boxes, plus a little extra space ( I put my worm binder there). Two pockets on the top, the bigger one is deep and keep line, first aid kit, extra boxed lures, scales, etc. The front-top pocket is smaller but has quite a bit of tiny pockets for nail clippers, spike it, pocket knife extra. I keep my more sensitive stuff like medicine bottle, extra spools, sunblock. It has two smaller side pockets, one holds my Spike-It, Bang, Line-Butter and small rag. The other holds my braid scissors, Gerber multi-tool, forceps.
  15. I been wanting to get a rig, but want to wait till I get a heavy action rod, but can't wait any longer! I've been fishing some multi bait rigs recently like the double fluke and the donkey rig. I went out yesterday with a donkey rig baited with Super Fluke (White Ice) and caught several good fish. The equipment I have to accommodate, hopefully, a light umbrella rig is a Veritas 7'6" MdHvy, BPS Pro Qualifier and 50# Power Pro. I've seen several rigs at Academy that looked good, but want to get the forums opinion and advice on what will work for my setup. Mainly jig head weights, baits and maybe brands? I'd like to go inexpensive if at all possible. Any help is greatly appreciated! ~Tight Lines~
  16. caught on....wait for it.....Zebco + 10# mono (old) + Rooster Tail = TOAD!

  18. Easy Guys! Just something I heard much of nothing about. Just trying to find some info on the obviously soar subject. All I know there was a flag involved and Ranger dropped his sponsorship. **With all due respect*** Delete if you'd like Glenn, but an article link would have killed this thread **With all due respect*** @BrianinMD, probably because your reply bumped the thread.
  19. kicking the American flag in the lake incident. LOVE his passion, needs to get it check sometimes though....
  20. That's Hydrilla, found a few isolated mats, but not many at all. 41# including dead fish decdutions (2 days) won ours, with a couple 7's for big fish. We had 15 after day one and finished with 17 pounds.....I mean we really struggled to get bit Sunday We caught our 15#s on U-Vibes....Our weight came on the Spook Jr though Did y'all launch at Beeswax? did ya fish North or south?
  21. Taking the good info from the good folks on the forum, we had a decent weekend for a few newbs (15#s of spots on day 1). Couldn't capitalize on day 2. I can't blame it on a couple broken rod tips and a jacked up reel, just myself for the most part for missing several good bites...had the shanks. We found the spots biting and put together a pattern fairly quick on Friday, practicing. We, for the most part, had it to ourselves a 3 days. Devil Islands (I think theyre called) below the Power Plant, is by no means a secret spot but hunkered down and good bit all weekend. With our little knowledge of the lake, we got in the current in 14-15 ft and caught spots behind the exposed timber we they were ambushing (wasn't exposed Sunday!) around the islands. We figure 8'd the islands for the better part of 2 days and actually picked up some good size spots....a few 3s and several 2s. We didn't want to leave fish for fish, even though we needed largemouth to get the weight up. We found the Spook bite on practice day and Saturday, but shut off quick it seemed due to it being overcast and being out of the current. Had to move to a Jr size and vary the retrieve a bit to get them to commit, but they did. Sunday was a different ballgame all together, and to be honest, I just scratched my head all day. Found good grass in the back of a few creeks with shad popping, but no chasers to be found. They were boiling in the very back bank grass, but couldn't get but a couple bites, and missed one We didn't go south of beeswax at all, but most seems most of our club did, probably the narrows, but there again, can't leave fish for fish with our lack of history on lay lake. We didn't get bit on the swim jig, but did on the fluke some. All in All, loved the lake, had fun, learned a lot and got to go fishing!
  22. How did ya'll fair in your tourney? There were two smaller tournaments (including our 18 boats) both Saturday and Sunday. It was definitely hairy as safe daylight broke around the bend in Beeswax. I guessed there were 60-70 boats. My partner (boater) somehow forgot to put on his life vest and we both didn't realize it till we couldn't stop in the thick of the pack. It was all about adaptation for us, especially Sunday! They generated a ton of water over the weekend and had to move to "plan b" Sunday. We caught a few on Flukes in the first north pocket going out of beeswax. They're were some fish caught behind the bait store's dock Sunday.
