  1. If you ever have a chance to fish the Great Lakes I highly recommend the Odin Outdoors Gobeev and Odin Outdoors Dropshot. In the Great Lakes smallmouth stuff themselves with gobies, and these two baits definitely match the hatch. I stick with the watermelon and green pumpkin colors. http://www.odinoutdoors.com/#!soft-baits/c1ksk
  2. I may be going down to Carlyle Lake in a couple weeks and I would like to know what the bass are biting on and where they are at. I know this will change by the time I get there but I want to have an idea of what I'm coming up against. I will also have access to a boat . Past experiences, comments, and opinions about Carlyle Lake are good too. Thank you.
  3. I like Power Pro Super Slick in the aqua green color. Smooth, thin diameter, and reliable. Sure the color fades a bit but I use a fluorocarbon leader either way (I use double uni-knot to tie my leaders). On my spinning setup I use 20lb. While my friend uses 30lb and 40lb on baitcasters. It also doesn't wind knot often. You can buy a 150 yard spool at Walmart more or less for $20. Sure it's more pricy than Spiderwire Stealth but it's a lot better in my imo.
  4. Thanks for the contribution. I will consider the *** as well.
  5. In the last 6 months I discovered the power of the jig and it's now one of my confidence baits. Now I'm just debating what rod to purchase. As a high school student I've been saving up my money for a while so I want a setup that'll be money well spent. As a member of the high school bass fishing team I've come to enjoy the competitive aspect of bass fishing. Last year my friend and I placed 5th out of 21 boats in a sectional tournament (and we were the only freshmen present!). This year I'd like to step it up and add a 2nd rod to my arsenal (hopefully make it to state). My strength is pitching very accurately and thoroughly fishing an area. So the selling points of a fishing rod for me is the rod balance and sensitivity. Here are some choices below I'm debating about. St Croix Legend Tournament 7'1" medium heavy power, fast action sku: TBC71MHF $260 Kistler Helium 3 7'1" medium heavy power, extra fast action sku: He3MH71XF $260 Any opinions and/or other rod recommendations will be well appreciated. Thank you.
