  1. I like Teva river shoes. Good grip and can get wet.
  2. If it makes you feel any better I made the same mistake. I was very happy until reality set in. Lol cool little fighters though.
  3. I will definitely take you up on that. Thank you.
  4. Yep lots of toothy fish. Get a metal leader or you may be busy resetting tackle. Lol don't ask me how I know that.
  5. Or other thing is if the boat came from a pro its no longer a new boat worth 60k. It has depreciated over the year the pro had it so you would be taxed at the fair market value of the boat. Besides you could alway sell the boat cover the taxes then buy a modest boat free and clear. How much is a beat up pro boat selling for ? . Even if its a brand new boat nothing says you can't sell it for enough to buy a modest boat and still pay off the taxes. I do like the guiding idea, and I do not believe that you would have to do it full time to take the deductions. As always, consult a tax professsional.
  6. We are not certain, maybe Frisco or Lewisville area. We are not sure yet.
  7. Hello all, Just saying hello to all the DFW anglers out there. We are moving to DFW at the end of the month, and was wondering which of the local lakes are good for bass especially from shore. We are leaving S. Florida so I am hoping to have as much luck the DFW as I had in Florida. -Michael
  8. I have caught a small barracuda using a fluke and megastrike.
  9. On the water 320+ days probably. Knowing how to adapt to changing conditions, and probably most important researching bass and the waters they are going to fish. I mean if I was going for the big bucks they get, I'd be hiring some guides for the lakes
  10. Has she mentioned that she wants to go fishing? Shown any interest? If not get her a Pandora bracelet with a couple charms representing the kids. Then go to town for Father's Day
  11. Got email for a discount on St. Croix rods. Below is the email I got: DICK'S Sporting Goods and St. Croix Rods have teamed up to support KeepAmericaFishing™ through a fishing rod trade-up event at DICK'S locations nationwide. If you trade in an old rod at DICK'S for a new St. Croix rod you will get a discount and DICK'S will donate $1 or more to KeepAmericaFishing. Find a store near you. Trade in any old fishing rod for: A new St. Croix rod of $99 or less and you get $10 off = $1 donation to KeepAmericaFishing A new St. Croix rod of $100 or more and get $20 off = $2 donation to KeepAmericaFishing
  12. I usuall trim off the torn part and rebook. It goes from a 5" senko to a 4.5" senkos and eventually a 4"
  13. Not sure if the Tuf-Line offer is still available but I'd go that route if it is. 5 buck 100 yards and the backlashes are really manageable. Also the trick to getting them out is when it happens release the spool. Then place your thumb on the spool lightly and start pulling line out (this keeps the spool from spinning as you pull out line). When the line gets stuck as you pull, apply more pressure to the spool the. Turn the handle 1/2 rotation. Release the spool pulling line out until the next spot it gets stuck and repeat the handle turning truck or you get back to the nicely spooled section of the line. Backlash release was the item that freaked me out the most until I saw that trick on YouTube.
  14. Thanks for the tip. The canal in the area or the ponds?
  15. Thank you Snook. I appreciate it
  16. Haha, back to fish ID school for me. I did not know that they got that big. Still was fun little hour, and back to hunting one of suckers down. Thanks for letting me know.
  17. Went to a nearby canal during my lunch break and noticed a peacock in the water. I hooked a baby bass fluke weighted with a 1/16oz bullet weight unpegged. Started tossing the fluke I the general direction of the peacock and still nothing. So I decided to move my position so I could have a different presentation. Toss the fluke about 8-10ft away then swam the fluke with slight jerks toward the peacock. Then bang the line got tight and fish on. It put up a pretty decent fight but in the end I plucked it up and out of the water. Nothing huge but I finally got my first peacock bass.
  18. I just started doing it this way and found that its much more weedless. The business end is in the belly and hooks up really easily. Still want to switch from EWG hook though. Probably the next trip to BPS I'll get the better hooks. .
  19. When a fish is close enough to me I grab the line and bring the fish on shore. They typically are tired enough that they don't want to fight much more. This is with 10lb mono or 12lb braid. I think your issue is the hook, not the line. Nothing broke right?
  20. I felt ill watching that but it's helpful.
  21. Is it ok to use the PQ in salt water from a pier or am I asking for problems. I have a Penn spinning set up but I know that my son will want to go fishing too at the campsite.
  22. I'm always of the opinion that the 10 mins it takes to ask it can't hurt. Worst case you still walk out without it, best case 10-20% off and you got a sweet rod.
  23. Cool writeup . I found a misspelling/typo 7th paragraph (I think it's the 7th lol) 2nd to last sentence it has disuccsion. I have learned so much on here along with YouTube that people that meet me can't believe that I have been fishing for less than a year.
