Every one here knows that I fish the coosa chain. Without a doubt one of my favorite techniques for magnum spots is a 1/2 to 1 oz spinnerbait. I throw a 3/4 the most. The rod I currently use does fine but is very stiff and can sometimes rip them away. So I am looking for one that's around 7'3 and heavy action. let me know what you guys would suggest.

It got to where when I set the hook it would make a terrible a sound and line would peel out. Drags are supposed to give but not like that! but I will say this I have a 2nd generation revo stx, the one with the gold spool and that is the baddest flipping reel I have ever owned, but the new ones don't seem as well made anymore at least that's what I have heard

If you are going to put this reel through some serious work I would go curado. Lews are great I have used them for quite awhile. But when I went to Okeechobee and fished there for 10 days for a college tournament they started to slip and wear down. for jigs, spinnerbaits, cranks etc. lews will be fine. For flipping heavy cover shimano is the way to go. Overall I think they curado is a more durable reel

I've been fishing mine hard for about 2 weeks I got the 7'5" heavy jig rod. my favorite rod I have ever used for jigs, got a enough tip to skip under docks but enough power to yank em out. I pulled a 3 pounder out of a log jam and brought in a log along with the fish. Its my first loomis and I will definitely buy more. I've caught probably 20 fish off of It so far and it sure is one bad dude.

I have used ducketts also. loved em until I starting breaking them like twigs

I have used denali rosewoods, st. Croix rage rods, st. Croix avids. Denalis are good but this suits my needs better for what I am doing and it seems a tad bit better balanced and lighter. So far I said it seems to be up there. we will see if it holds up this next month. Its getting pre spawn time for spots and I have 3 tournaments in the next month so it will be seeing a ton of work!

I'm not saying its the rod to end all rods, but so far i think it's quality for the price

Everyone and there brother has been wondering about the new G Loomis rods. I went against my natural tendency and bought one shortly after they became available on Tackle Warehouse. This is my first ever G Loomis that I have bought. Since then I have fished with it twice on the lake using it most of the time. The rod I am reviewing is the 894c 7'5" heavy jig rod, rated for 5/16oz-3/4oz I bought this rod to primarily be my jig rod. I have been on the search to find one that fit my needs perfectly and trust me it has been quite a battle. This rod fits my needs absolutely perfectly so far. Living on the Coosa river chain there is no idea what I might be throwing jig wise. One minute I will be skipping a 3/8oz jig under docks and trees, the next I will be throwing a 1/2 oz to 3/4 oz to deep points and humps. I have been looking for a rod that can do all of this perfectly. So I went and did all of these things with this rod and it did it all exactly how I wanted it to. It has enough tip where you can feel those lighter jigs perfectly on the bottom but also enough power to rip fish out of cover. The sensitivity is what I would expect out of a $250 dollar rod. I had no problem picking up on the soft bites from the lethargic fish. I will admit that I am weird and like to skip docks with a 7'3" to 7'6" rod. Honestly that's the length I prefer in every technique except jerk bait fishing. The 7'5 is an awesome length and provides for awesome leverage and long casts. Durability wise I can't speak on much because I have not had it very long but it seems to be well made and had no problem boat flipping 3 1/2 pounders. Perhaps my favorite part was how well balanced the rod was. I but a shimano 200i on it and it was balance perfectly. It isn't the lightest rod I have ever felt but it is definitely not tip heavy. Compared to other rods however it is very light. So far I am very impressed with my first Loomis and think that the 893 will be my next purchase. I prefer to stay in the 150-200 dollar range for rods and from what I can see so far this is one of the best if not the best I have used in this price range. We will see how this holds up for the next month or so. If it does it will have one me over and I will purchase a few more. Tight Lines, Josh

I would if I could I plan on doing a big review about it after I have fished it hard for a month or so. But so far the rod is pretty light, sensitivity seems to be on point (I'll know more about the sensitivity when I get a chance to fish it a football jig on it). What I really liked was the action of it. It seems suits my needs absolutely perfectly. And it did some work pulling some spots out cover for me yesterday afternoon. Give me a few weeks and I will let you know how I feel and if I will buy more. From the small amount I have used it so far I am very impressed.

i have one of the new g loomis E6X. I bought the 894c jig and worm rod. I am the same as you and want one I can pitch a smaller finesse jig on but can still fish a heavy football jig with it too. So far the rod seems like it can do that perfectly. Haven't used it a bunch yet but it loads perfectly to skip a 3/8 oz jig under docks. and its 7'5 so horsing one out wasn't a problem. I've only had it a few days so I have only fished with it once but it seems like the perfect jig rod for your application.

I really suggest the bb1 pro, the adjustment is now on the side so its easier to adjust now. I really like it because of the line capacity that is everything to me!

I haven't used the spinning rod yet, but everyone on here knows I am a true blue denali guy. I have one of the noirwood slop rods and it is the best rod I have ever put in my hand. its extremely sensitive and tough as nails. im sure you will love it! I plan on getting one myself soon.

Everyone knows I used to be a seaguar fanatic but recently I was able to get my hands on some free spools of Sunline and geared up all my rods with it. I used FX2 braid, Shooter and Sniper and was so impressed by it I have thrown seaguar out the window. I know Seaguar is alright for the money but when im competing for big $$ I truly want the best in my hands. Now I have seen some threads on the Reaction line but nothing on the structure fluorocarbon. From what little I was able to find out about it all line it seems like its close to shooter but just a step down and a little cheaper. I think it would be great for pitching jigs to docks and also for deep water fishing. Has anyone ever used it?
