What are you looking to do. Their ratings are a tad different but they are one of the best companies out there. My all around is a 744. The 7’4” has a heavy or 4 rating but it fishes more like a medium heavy. The 3 would be a medium.

Ok so out of those options I would go with the E series. However, I prefer the 5 speed reel and I would take the new Abu Garcia ALX over all of them. I have the Chronarch and the Winch. The new ALX outfishes them in my opinion. Low profile makes it easy to palm and the thing casts like a dream. But as as to your question, the chronarch has held up as has the winch, but the chronarch is just a tad smoother. I replaced the drag and bearings on both so they are both more than capable.

I tend to lean towards the 745. For some reason that length and taper fit me the best. I can tell you I also have the 795 flipping stick that can handle all of those needs as well. The good news is you have chosen a great brand and will not go wrong with any of the choices. May I suggest calling Richard and speaking with him. They will talk with you and usually give some great insight and options you may not have thought of.

I have to agree that I wouldn't buy an Okuma vs a Daiwa at the same price point. Maybe a Helios Air, but Daiwa and shimano do lead the industry in technology and innovation. Simply put, you get more for your money with these reels. I have fished some Okumas and some of almost every major brand and none typically hold up and please me like Daiwa or Shimano. This is purely subjective of course. I really like some of my team lews and they are flat out bad ass reels, but the Shimano and Daiwa offerings at the same price point typically handle better for me.

Curado is a steal at $139. Reel is awesome and I have several reels in this price range and several well above it. The curado I is much better than the E series ( have the curado and chronarch E). A fish on with the x ship feels great. I also think the braking system was simple to set. I don't even use my thumb with it. The reason the price is low is they removed the MAP on the curado series. For what reason, I am not sure.

Been using them all season and they are outcatching everything around here. The 3DB series is as pretty as it gets.

I own the Curado E, the Chronarch E and the Curado I all in the 6 gear ratio and the Curado I eats them both for lunch. It is not even a comparison. The "I" is smoother, casts further and has a better stock drag. Both my Curado and Chronarchs are supertuned with ABEC 5 bearings and they still are not on the same level. The Curado I series is pretty d**n nice and I would recommend them to anyone.

Dobyn's 704CB for me. Best d**n rod in my arsenal and that includes my DX's based on how much I use it. I would like a longer rod in a 5 power though.

I have a problem too. I am at the point where I am upgrading most of my stuff. Dobyn's rods and Shimano, Daiwa or High end lew's will be my go to's for some time.

I like catching fish...period. Casting is better to me because I have better gear which in turn makes it more fun to me.

I have had many different reels but very rarely does Abu compete with Shimano.

The DX744 is the best rod in the arsenal IMO. I also love the DX795 flipping stick. I would probably grab a 766 just to manhandle any situation.

Veracity. Abu's most valuable rod right now and has much better components than the Diesel.My opinion of course and I am far from an Abu fan.

I put a lew's carbon handle on my Tatula type R. I got one with the red accents so it looks pretty dang good. The handle comes with all hardware and 4 bearings. Easy upgrade for next to nothing.
