  1. Another vote for Norman.
  2. If she knew, perhaps she is like other women. She figured she could change you. Life is too short. Go fish. My wife isn't into the outdoors. That is okay to me. I like my alone time. I do go places with her and have a honey do list like every other married guy. I also take in to consideration her feelings. I ask her if we have plans. If we don't I tell her I'd like to go fishing or hunting. Most of the time that is all it takes. She knows how much I love doing it and encourages me to go when she knows I need to reboot. I'll also mention this is my second marriage. The other one ended on bad terms. My hobbies weren't the reason we split. I practically did no hunting or fishing. I gave it up because all she did was complain. Never again will that happen.
  3. Oh I'm sure they are there. Flip some rocks in the creek and I'll put money on you finding some in the first 10 minutes.
  4. To say I'm impressed with my Ci4 would be an understatement. I plan on purchasing at least 2 more.
  5. I haven't fished anything other than my local club. I have heard some good stories from the BFL's and horror stories. I have thought about fishing some of them. I can promise one thing. The boater acts like you stated above, I can promise his day with me won't be fun. I'll never pick up the net. He'll get no cash from me and I'll do my best to kick his tale back boated or not.
  6. x2 x2
  7. I use the Gene Larew salty snakes. Also another vote for the Rage anaconda and recon worms. The ribbon tail on the salty snake is long and has a ton of action.
  8. Thanks for the replies fellas. The only shop I know of is the one inside BPS a short distance away from me. Maybe there is a local shop that I don't know that is in business. Good advice on the reel. It makes since but I never would have thought you don't use the reel much. Thanks for the link. I'll do some reading. I will also look into some lessons.
  9. I didn't get to go. Dad needed help around his place. He is down in his back so I helped him plant tomato plants, fix a flat on the trailer, and load the trailer with some junk to haul to the dump. There is a free dump day Saturday. Anyways, I'll be going rain or shine tomorrow for sure. Hopefully I'll get bit. We'll see.
  10. If you're trolling, why are you casting? 20 feet from the bank isn't much of a cast if that's what you are doing.
  11. Well for some odd reason Bass Pro sends me their White River catalog! It has me drooling. I have always thought of giving this a try. Anyways. Can any of you professional fly fisherman point me in the direction of a decent rig to start with. Lets say $250 and under for rod and reel. Thanks in advance. Darin
  12. I went to braid for manageability. Sometimes the memory would drive me absolutely bonkers! So now it is braid and a flouro leader.
  13. Arbuckle has been on fire the last couple years. Most of the big bags have been caught on the rig. I have never fished the lake but you should do good. Good Luck.
  14. Craw. I use the beaver style baits as jig trailers, t-rig, jika rig, punchbait, swim jig trailer. The applications are endless.
  15. Read this thread. An old one but worth its weight in gold. Bookmark it! http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/72766-a-rare-insight-into-crankbait-fishing/
  16. Nice man! Congrats! I just received my first Hudds last week with a cardiff 300 from TW. I just spooled up my cardiff before hopping on the site and seen this thread! I'll be tossing a 68 weedless tomorrow! Hopefully I'll hook up on my first swim bait fish.
  17. This^^ and read, read some more, read what you read again. Watch all the videos you can! Start off learning about 5 techniques. Learn them! Be efficient! Then you can pick up more techniques. Good luck in your adventure. Just remember, it is a life long journey. No reason to sprint through it!
  18. I have 5 PQ's and I love them! Respectfully, the H2O has been a good reel for a bunch of fellas on here. So what I would do is get go and put your hands on each of them. Put them on a rod in there store and test their balance. Then decide which one you like. Just my 2 cents.
  19. When I think I have a good fish on, I keep my tip low and sweep my rod to the side. If the fish runs in the opposite direction, I'll switch to the other side. I wouldn't point the rod tip at the fish. On one occasion, I rammed my rod tip into the water. The fish jumped and it was big! It wound up being a 6 plus.
  20. And now he's into taking food from the mouth of babes!
  21. I'll definitely be lurking for some hardgills when you get them done Matt!
  22. 2 and a half to 3 is my guess. No way it is a 5. Definitely buy a scale!
  23. I have fished my club for 3 years from the back. I read an article once about co-angling on Flw's website. The article stated to have a good selection of terminal tackle. So I stocked a box of just about everything. More than one occasion my boater offered a soft plastic bait I didn't have with me or one I've never used. When they offered I had the stuff to rig the bait. I have gotten compliments on my terminal tackle box. So with having a stocked terminal box, the boater offering the bait to me didn't have to dig out and set me up with everything. They would toss me the bag and keep fishing. A couple of minutes I was ready to go.
  24. I almost exclusively use War Eagle. I know you were asking for a custom. So the ones I have been looking into lately are Sieberts spinner baits or Megastrike's. I have purchased some specialized scroungers from Revenge. So I bet those would be the real deal too.
  25. There has been some crazy weather patterns the past few years!
