  2. Mine doesn't abhor the Bait Monkey. She feeds him. She is always letting me know when BPS is having a sale or a 6 month pay if you spend a certain amount. I use the debit card tho. I just wish I could please him. I know she's happy with me because I dish out a lot of crud! She's still here!
  3. I have a 13 year old that is going to be broken in with bait casters this year. I have kept my gear to give to him.
  4. Lightning rods and ugly sticks are excellent starter rods. I purchased a Lightning shock for one of my Sahara reels. I have been very impressed.
  5. Look up "roll cast" on youtube. As the bait come close to entering the water, thumb the spool and lift your rod tip up at the same time. It takes some practice. Or pitch your lure and do the same as well. If you are casting a long distance, just cast well past your target and you don't have to worry to much about the splash.
  6. I'd say a solid 7. But I'm with Jeff. 6.5 to 7.5 is a great estimate.
  7. The reason you can't find any 22lr is because they have conversion kits for the AR-15's to turn them into 22lr's. It was explained to me yesterday from a friend of mine that there are many kits that will convert multiple guns. SO I would assume that is the reason. At the gun show a few weeks ago .223 rounds were going for approximately 1.00 per round. Before this fiasco started a box of 1,000 rounds ran about 350 to 400 bucks. It is nuts!
  8. They are having the expo within a few blocks walk of the BOK center where the weigh in will be. The BOK is a state of the art facility and the Convention Center where the expo will be, has had a bunch of upgrades. I don't know if anyone on here is familiar with the Daryl Starbird's car show. The Convention Center is where it is held and there is tons of open space for the expo. It is a vast open room. The Tulsa Oilers minor league hockey team played there before moving to the BOK. There is a stadium that has 8,000 plus seats for events in the Convention Center as well. I can't stinking wait. I will get to FINALLY check the Bassmaster Classic off my bucket list! The FLW will be having a major tournament from the same ramp site on Grand the first weekend in June so keep that in mind as well!
  9. I plan on going Friday to the expo. Then back to the expo Sunday and the weigh in.
  10. I'll look for you!
  11. My wife caught me talking to myself the other day. I was looking at gear at the numerous internet sites. She looked at me funny and asked if I was okay. I said yeah just talking to the Bait Monkey. AHHHHHH the look on her face! She thinks I am even crazier now!
  12. I'm glad you're not upset Sam! After I responded I said to myself "big dummy you aren't Sam" :-)
  13. This works like a charm! LOL
  14. The spring classic sale starts February 22nd.
  15. One more for ya for Grand. A #5 shad rap in natural color. Make sure it's the balsa and not the plastic. Throw it on light line. I usually use a spinning reel and a 7' M rod. Set the drag and hold on.
  16. I open up my worm bags and take a deep breath. Ahhhhh smells good! lol
  17. I like to use my Fat Free's around bridge pilings and rip rap. I plan on getting some of the deep square bills to add to my arsenal.
  18. On the 1/4 oz head use the 4". BPS has the heads with a few plastics with them. Around 3.50 a piece. My Wally world has the as well just a little cheaper. Also on Grand. Have a buzzbait or spook tied on. If you come to any wave breaks or seawall throw it out along both sides. They ALWAYS have fish on them.
  19. Thanks! I'll check it out. I'll give ya a little tip for Grand. 1/4 oz Scrounger jig head with a baby bass fluke around the docks! The lake record was caught this past summer on that same bait. I also tossed this same bait at Tenkiller and the Brownies seemed to like it as well. Good Luck to you as well!
  20. Along with those beetle spins, add a few 1/4 oz Scrounger heads. Put a fluke in a natural color. I use baby bass in the summer and it gives the dock fish sore lips!
  21. I don't walk into my local BPS unless I can spend a minimum of one hundred bucks! I could spend hours just looking then another few deciding what I want!
  22. I like that set up as well. Being a co-angler, we have to cast around a 250hp elephant! So shorter stout rods are a plus. My only exception is when the deep crank bite is on I'll bring a 7'6" MH glass rod to use.
  23. I love tossing cranks! But. . . if my boater was then I used a Biffle head with a biffle bug. I would slow roll it and keep bottom contact. I'd ask if his crank had a rattle. If it didn't I'd press a rattle in the bug. Another technique I'd use is a Luck-E Strike Scrounger head. It wobbles like a crank and can be fished numerous ways. I put a fluke on it in my favorite color.
