Some great ideas! I don't have a boat so I can't take that advice. I do however contribute what I think is a decent amount to a buddy or my boater in the tournament I'm paired with. It is very expensive I'm sure.
As far as rods and reels....... I just purchased 5 new reels. I don't need more! lol Rods I could go with a few but there is money there already for some.
So I was thinking some Costa 580G's or a Frabil Storm suite. Dumb on my part?
I believe what LMG is saying is "Man I wish there were more rods in the $100 range because so and so suggested a rod at $185. What if I don't like it? I could have had 2 rods for that much." What his heart is saying "I wish Shimano would come out with 17 more rods at $100 so I can oh and awe over them."
:-)
Slow. Slow. Slow. As far as southeast. Man that's a pretty broad spectrum! lol
Jigs
Spinner bait/chatter bait
Shad Raps and thin sided square bills
Shaky heads
Scroungers
It's dark so think dark colors. Black/blue with a dull colored blade and black trailer. With that much vibration they'll be able to find it. Go with a dark trailer as well.
Here is a blog from KVD on the 25th. It is a little off topic but you can also apply it to what Sam suggests.

1/4, 1/2, 3/4 weights.
Football heads
Regular heads
Swim jig heads
As far as colors go. Browns, greens, and black/blue are what I usually use. I use Rage Tail baits for my trailers. But any style chunk will work. A thread is pinned at the top of the tackle forum. Click on that. It will help tremendously.
