  1. Yup baby steps. I don't drink much soda. I used to tho! I might have 3 a week maybe. I'm more iced tea and water with a splash of sugar free Kool Aid! Good for you man! I plan on taking my life back. I refuse to settle with how I am feeling.
  2. Shoot me a PM when you get the time. My pain has been manageable with the stretching these past few days. I can pretty much do anything. I have stiffness in my lower back muscles. I plan on taking it easy and I have some cyclobenzaprine I plan on taking this weekend to loosen things up. I love to lift free weights. As you can see in my avatar I have pretty broad shoulders and a great frame for lifting. As far a supplements go, I would like to start off light on those and work my way into them. Most of the cash is going to the frickin hospitals due to some of the stuff my wife had to take care of.
  3. Man I want to take a bite already! ^^^ I love the mega strike jelly idea. I mean some fish are fat like myself, and this fat boy loves jelly frickin doughnuts!
  4. Siebert jigs come wire tied or with a rattle band. If you want rattles just purchase them separately and add them to the rattle band. Custom hand tied jigs for 2.50 a pop are an absolute steal!
  5. Yes sir I totally agree. About 10 years ago I went thru a divorce. I was around 292 then and dropped to 234. That was in my late 20's and much easier to lose the weight. I have gradually let myself go once again. I just have the pain now and it is much harder to lose the weight. I played football in school. I started in the 3rd grade and played all the way thru my senior year. In 2005 I started playing recreation league hockey. I have put my body thru hell and now I am paying for it. I'll get thru this one way or another. Rite now my difficulty lies in conditioning myself to eat smaller portions. That is easier said than done! LOL
  6. “The North isn’t a place. It’s just a direction out of the South.”—Roy Blount, Jr. SOUTH SIDE!
  7. Yes yes I know all to well about not enough protein and eating good carbs. I just have to simply change my lifestyle and make smarter choices. I owe to my wife and children. My mother and uncle have diabetes. They were diagnosed later in life. I do believe I can divert getting it myself. I have talked to my MD about it and I have also been tested recently just to be safe. Oh I know it works. I lost a total of 30 pounds on WW before the holidays. I then went back to my old eating habits. I am at a breaking point now and I will be doing some form of WW. I just can't justify the money per month at the present time. To many medical bills at the time. The wife has had to have some procedures done and all I can say is thank the good Lord for insurance! Great tips flyfhisher. Thanks.
  8. Awesome! I am a big fan of the jigs. We received some great news finally on the wife. Now on to the healing. Her 2 biopsies came back negative. Thank you for your concern.
  9. For years I have worked 2 and 3 jobs at a time. Working full time and juggling 2 part time jobs or gigs I like to call them. It does wear me down from time to time but the only difference is about me to you is, I get to be at home every night. That makes it worth it for me. Sometimes we have to do what we have to do to pay the bills. I just put my head down and go to a different place when I am exhausted. I used to have many more irons in the fire but over the years I've gradually let some of my stuff go. Good luck man.
  10. I placed an order with Mike last month. I received the order rather quickly. I was hoping to fish these jigs exclusively in a tournament I had a few weeks ago. I was not able to do so because my wife has had medical issues the past 15 weeks and I had to bow out. I did however get to a local little lake for about 3 hours of fishing a few weeks ago. I used the grass jig as a swim jig. The website said the grass jig could double as a swim jig so this is how I used it. When I first arrived at the lake, I threw a hollow body frog for the first hour or so and hauled a bunch of water. I then switched up to a Siebert grass jig. My setup was a Falcon 6'6" MH. A PQ reel in 7:1 spooled with 30lb PP. The color of the jig is bluegill and the size 1/2. The trailer I used was an RI skinny dipper in green shad. I fan casted from the bank. I threw multiple casts down the grass edges and thru the grass as well. It came back without grass or little at all. I had my 13 year old son with me so I didn't get to make as many casts as normal due to helping him with what I had set him up with. I did manage to catch a little chunk and a dink. I really like this jig. I hope to get out this coming weekend to try the other jigs and I will post up on this thread what I think of them. On another note my son caught a few dinks on a wacky or texas rigged senko. I had a buddy that blanked and was totally jealous of our catches. It was a great outing!
  11. Thanks fellas. I am not looking for overnight success. I have learned to deal with the pain and discomfort by just putting my head down and plugging thru the day. It has now escalated into affecting my family. I have recently gotten ugly towards my wife and kids. It is time to do something. It isn't their fault I feel this way and my quality of life is just plainly starting to suck. Raider, I may hit you up on the nutritions side of this. I suck at making good choices. Another kick in the nuts I received this past week is a high school friend of mine wound up in the hospital with heart failure and 7 stints later he is out. He d**n near died twice. It is an eye opener for sure. I'm not scared of death but I am sure my wife wouldn't want to raise the little one by herself due to my own stubbornness.
  12. At the present time my life is basically summed up by a song Garth Brooks sang on his first album. "I'm Much Too Young To Feel This d**n Old" I am 37 years old and I weigh 272 pounds. I have early stages of arthritis in my lower back and knees. I know my weight is not helping me so I begin a weight loss and stretching regimen today. I reached out to the Elite angler, Brent Chapman, over facebook. After reading his AOY journey, I caught that he had been dealing with pain in the years prior due to an Elite anglers schedule. So I messaged him and graciously replied. He sent me this link. http://www.in-fisherman.com/2012/11/14/egocuse-perret-and-me-an-update/ I will be doing this at a bare minimum, once a day. I am also going to start eating better and lose some weight. I just can't take this anymore. I will be reporting back on here from time to time and giving my results. Any encouragement or brow beating is appreciated. Thanks. Darin
  13. I am using the SK11's at the present time. I am purchasing a pair of costas next year tho.
  14. I don't get the evil eye. I spend what I want most of the time. We have been hit by a lot of medical stuff here lately. So most of my extra money goes to the hospitals at the present time. But other than that my kids are my first priority. I have one at home and one part time. I have to pay child support to the ex just 5 more years! It has been stated numerous times that when that stops, BOAT time! That would be an easy payment to make!
  15. Whitetail aficionado here! lol My dream is to hunt Moose in the Yukon. I hope to one day also be able to make some Elk hunts.
  16. I do. I believe the team name is The Resource guys. There is only 3 or 4 of us though! lol There is a bunch the Bassmaster fantasy fishing page.
  17. Oops! All these tornados around here must've scrambled my brain! Lol. Ahem.... Inline spinners. Is that better?
  18. Careful with the "tap tap tap" phrase. Some guys on here swear that is a blue gill and not a bass. (I typed that while rolling my eyes)
  19. A swim jig and a trailer to match. I used a 1/2 oz Siebert grass jig with a RI skinny dipper in green shad. I had an excellent 3 hours last weekend.
  20. Mike makes quality jigs. I'm going to do a review on his grass jig when I get a chance.
  21. Good gravy that looks sweet Mike!
  22. Amber strike king. I fished an overcast sky Sunday and it made it seem brighter out. I could see bluegill chasing each other in the grass.
  23. You set the hook just fine. Wacky rigged senkos or other stick baits simply catch fish. When I feel the oh so familiar tap tap tap, I set the hook. If you don't feel comfortable doing that, then reel in the slack and if the line is swimming off drop the hammer! If you do that be prepared from time to time you'll gut hook the aggressive ones. If you decide not to fish plastics anymore then that just leaves more fish for the guys that like fishing them! Lol
  24. Thief - the lowest life form imaginable.
  25. I like rattles in muddy to murky water. If I want some noise in other types of water I usually add one of the small glass rattles in the trailer. This seems to work for me.
