  1. 6'10" with a 7:1 and a 7'6" with a 7:1 Line depending on the cover I'm fishing. Usually the shorter rod is around docks or in somewhere tight. Line on that one is typically 20lb flouro unless I need to downsize for a finicky bite..... then I use a back up reel with around 15lb and just switch them out. The longer rod is used for everything else. The line on that is no less than 25lb flouro with a back up that has 65lb braid I can switch out to if the bite is in the nasty stuff.
  2. Well, well, well. I'm glad I finally took the time to read this little gem. I work graveyard and it went well with my cup off coffee. All I can say is thanks for this thread, Catt. Being a new boater my problem has been finding the fish. I have a mentor helping me out but this thread has given me a mindset where now I can put something together on my own. Much appreciated.
  3. Rohan, that is what this forum is for. There are no stupid questions. No disrespectful people. The only way to keep our sport alive is to help and encourage the people new to fishing. Welcome to the forum.
  4. Holler at me about a week before you guys come. I can see what I can come up with by going up and fishing it or hit up some buddies and see what they are catching them on.
  5. Take time and read the pinned post at the top of the fishing tackle forum section. "A rare insight to cranking" You won't be disappointed.
  6. ^^^ This right here is the ticket. I throw a Sexy Shad pattern maybe 5% of the time. Usually pre-spawn, shad spawn, and in the fall. Bluegill is always tied on in different types of cranks and styles.
  7. Siebertoutdoors.com have the cheapest Tungsten around and are quality.
  8. Spro has been a good bait for me. I fish the Little John which is the size of a 1.5 It is a flat as well as the Fat John 60. It is the size of a 2.5 and flat. The Spro Little John Baby DD and the Little John DD are larger medium/deep divers. Depending on what you call deep. Ranging from 9-15 feet deep. They have flatter sides too. The Fat Pappa 55 and the Fat Pappa 70 are normal side divers in the 9-15 feet range. The Rock Crawlers have a wider wobble and dive around 5-9 feet. They hunt and have a wobble like the old Pre-Rapala wiggle warts have. Great baits for Pre-Spawn like the wiggle warts. I crank quick to get them down then slow roll them back to the boat. I throw Spro cranks most of the time. The exception is SK cranks. Especially the 1.5 square bills. They hunt like warts and are killer for me. I also mix in 3XD and 6XD SK divers.
  9. They flat out catch bass. A great alternative to when the buzz bait won't work and vice versa.
  10. I meant no disrespect. My neck is quite red as well. Sawsall would have been the route without machining and then smooth or finish with the dremmel. We do what we can.
  11. Bump. I am fishing in N/E Oklahoma. I look forward to posting some reports soon. My first tournament is March 4th on Grand.
  12. If I'm not mistaken, the pros series is a BPS exclusive. And I believe some of the colors are exclusive as well.
  13. Early summer those pesky Largies will be good on a deep diving crank bait like a 6xd and a 1.5 square bill. Sexy shad colors.
  14. All are reservoirs. Right now it is pretty durn cold. But you could fish if you wanted. It stays pretty mild for lows this time of year. Usually around freezing. The lakes never freeze except in some shallow protected areas. And only when temps reach real low which is pretty rare. Thank you. That may be the way I have to go unless I get a blank and machine a mold.
  15. To fish where I would normally fish a football head. Rock and rip rap. Just something different from what everyone else is throwing. I have looked on their site and also other places. Maybe I'm just missing it?
  16. I apologize. I went back through and analyzed my description of what I was looking for. It is a poor description. https://fishingskirts.com/product-category/boss-weed-eater/ That is what I'm looking for but I want a football head instead of the bullet.
  17. Whatever you do, do not I repeat do not use on a shaky head or swing football head. It never works. ?
  18. Does anyone know where I can purchase some? I got a sweet little tip here locally about them working wonders over the traditional football jig in my area. I know they make slip style ones but I need the collar like a bullet punch to tie my skirt to.
  19. I like to use the bug when the water starts to heat up. Those appendages have a ton of action. The Rodent is used on smaller jigs due to the profile. Like Bitsy bugs and 1/4 oz jigs. When it's cold out I typically use a Beaver style bait that has the appendages connected like the bug but I leave the appendages connected. Now you can use a Rodent on a regular sized jig for rate of fall but it doesn't look natural to me. So on a larger jig to get that quicker rate of fall, I'll use a creature bait like a brush hog.
  20. Crazy good on lakes around me doing this twitching around docks.
  21. I agree. But I was in your shoes once. Young kid. No internet LOL. So I combed through Bass Pro catalogs every chance I got. Read descriptions and talked with friends at school. Read Bassmaster. It became an obsession. One I love dearly. I am a crank fanatic and can tell most of the brands by pic alone. At least from 90's to now anyways and some older models.
  22. I thought that as well but they come quite a ways out. With the stacks being older, they are on sliders only. No ball bearings. So over time I thought the drawers would prematurely wear out due to weight of tools. So I came up with using them for this purpose.
  23. Whole numbers are the sizes. TW should have a per inch and a better description.
  24. The DT series are excellent baits. I'm not a huge Rapala guy but I do throw the Shad Raps in the spring. I have little experience with the scatter rap line although I know they catch fish. I just can't let go of my SK 1.5 square bills to allow the scatter rap in my arsenal. So a long story short, I'd go with the DT series and Shad raps. Just my 2 cents.
  25. I can see that if you cut all that out with a dremmel! I'm a machinist by trade so it would have taken me less than 10 minutes.
