  1. We met on Match.com We met on Christmas Eve 06' I left to attend Fiesta Bowl a few days later. We talked the whole time I was in Phoenix. Our anniversary is in November. I was sitting in a deer stand and my mother called and left a message. Thank goodness the phone was on silent! She wanted to take Kasey and I out to eat. My mother doesn't do any of those things unless there is a reason. So, as I sat on stand I'm rubbing my head thinking, why the heck is she taking us out to eat? BOOM Lightbulb! I missed our anniversary........and she did as well! Not bad after 6 years of marriage. I didn't give her a diamond. She purchased it herself. Off of QVC. A cubic zirconia. Why you ask? She said it isn't the diamond, it is what it represents! Another juicy tidbit. We were married at the hangmen's courthouse in Ft Smith, Arkansas. In front of a covered wagon. A train steamed thru why we were say our prepared vows. For dinner, mexican food. Our honey moon consisted of a hockey game in Tulsa and the next day we went to Norman, Oklahoma for an OU Sooner tailgate and football game! She has given me something I'd never have, a beautiful baby girl who will soon turn 5 the day after my birthday! So enough of my bragging! She's the one for me!
  2. Keep at it man. You'll break your PB with that bait alone! Anyways, I just picked up a Ci4 yesterday. When I get a rod to pair with the reel, I'll post a pic...... I don't have anything that I deem worthy of this thread! LOL
  3. I suggest you put some backing on the reel to get it started. Another reason. When you put backing on a reel with braid, it gives it more bite. You want the braid to be tight in the lower part of the spool. Otherwise the braid will start cutting into itself. You may not see the problem at first and then you go to make a cast. It will come to a dead stop in the air and sling shot back at you. Or a worse case, your lure sails of into the sunset.
  4. Ah! The bluegill Iobee! One of my favorites!
  5. Welcome CincyBassMan! Not to hijack the thread but I noticed you and Ripsomelips have bank avatars. Check out our bank fishing thread and join in if you'd like. http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/126667-bank-fishing-forum/
  6. I remember the days of budget bass fishing. I have a budget for my gear but it has grown over the years. I do however catch sales and clearance items regularly. I hardly ever pay retail for rods or reels.
  7. Since there has been a lot of buzz here lately about the new Curado, I figured I'd share this video. It also talks about how the new braking system and X-ship works. It is worth 9 minutes of your time.
  8. I thought I knew a lot about bass fishing until I set foot in a seasoned tournament anglers boat. If any advice I can give you it's this, never give up and never stop learning. I been at it 20 plus years and I am still learning.
  9. 8 for a largemouth and 6 for a smallmouth are my numbers. I'd love to beat my PB of 7-2 this year.
  10. I was typing the above when you replied. I meant no offense.
  11. Also, let me give you a little tidbit of my world. I decided not to go to school or get any tech training. I was lucky enough to fall into a job that after 10 years, I topped out at a decent wage at 31. I started at 8.76 an hour in 97'. That isn't much with a kid. If I wanted to have anything worth a crap, I had to work for it. So, I mowed lawns. I worked for my parents in the evenings being a janitor. I worked security at concerts and big outdoor events. I had no time to myself. As the years went along, the more I made at my steady job, the less I had to work the other ones. After topping out I decided to get some tech training. I wound up with getting a 35% increase in pay once upgraded........... Now the reason I told that story. These guys come up through the ranks. Basically doing what I did but they're fishing. I make about the same as I did 10 years ago with all those jobs. Now I work 8 hours instead of some 20 hours a day like I used to do. The seasoned pros have more time on their hands for other things because they paid their dues. I know I've paid mine. Just my 2 cents for what it's worth.
  12. Catt, are they as thick as the Zoom mangnum finesse? I absolutely love that bait and I'd love to have a straight tail that is longer.
  13. No joke! I haven't even purchased a Shimano baitcaster and it's all I'm thinking about.
  14. buzzfrog, you are taking his comments the wrong way. Somehow the deal is better with Duckett. The pro is going to back who writes his checks or who sponsors him. Maybe Quantum dumped Dean. We don't know the circumstances. Dean is trying to make a living. He's been in the game a long time and he knows how it works. We unfortunately don't.
  15. Sorry for your loss. It sounds that you are as thankful as I am that my father instilled a passion for the outdoors in me. Thank goodness for great dads! God Bless.
  16. He might have been approached by Duckett. When I think of Quantum, it's VanDam that pops in my head. That is a big shadow to be in. We'll never know what kind of deal Dean received. I want to work the same or less and make more money. He isn't any different.
  17. I have 2 bait coffins full of square bills and other shallow divers. 1 box of lipless and about 4 boxes of mid to deep divers. Hello, my name is Darin. I have a crankbait problem.
  18. My dad was in a similar situation about 5 years ago. His lower back pain drove him to the Dr. I think he had an MRI to access the damage. They found the cancer. Here is the kicker. Had he not had back problems, there is a chance he'd never have known. They wanted to do his surgery first. He told them to get bent, the cancer was coming first. After 40 some days of radiation, he is cancer free and now refuses the back surgery. He can hardly walk or stand without pain. He just refuses at 75 to have the procedure. Whatever you decide, I hope you get well soon!
  19. Ah man! Hope she gets better Snook!
  20. I'd be bank fishing! lol I have been down to the lake once. It is about a 3 and a half hour drive for me. That part of Oklahoma does not look like the rest of Oklahoma! It is a very scenic part of the state.
  21. I like a little red in with the browns and orange.
  22. I don't walk into Bass Pro unless I have cash to spend. At least a Ben Franklin in my pocket. I don't window shop!
  23. Honest mistake. I forgot that Bobby was sponsored by Abu and the Veritas was white!
  24. A fairly new reel. OOmod may be able to answer this question better but I'll shoot you a suggestion. I am fixing to purchase a Chronarch Ci4. The only reason I suggest this reel is that with the new braking system, you'll be able to throw 1/8oz baits a mile based on the reviews. If you trade in a reel at Bass Pro thru Saturday, you'll get 50 bucks off making the Ci4 $219. Or trade in one for the Curado and you'll get 30 bucks off making it $150. I was told if they don't have the reel you want, you can still get the reel for that price. When they come in they'll give you a call.
  25. x2! I have been researching reels for swimbaiting all winter. The cardiff has been the most suggested by far anywhere for beginning the technique. On another note. I just now noticed Grizzin that you purchased the Mojo. It will suit you well. The Extreme you picked up was a traveling model. That is why it telescoped. They do have a one piece 7'10". So if you don't like the Mojo give the Extreme another chance.
