  1. Agreed. The biggest 3 fish I've ever seen (1 of them I caught myself) were from: 1 in Lake Coral Springs and surrounding canals, and 2 in a canal two streets down from my house where I fish almost daily. One of those was caught by my friend and it must have been around 11 or 12 pounds. My two biggest were 7-8 pounds, one near my house and the other in my profile picture in a canal in Margate next to some golf courses and the very dead end of the canal.
  2. about $1500 in the last two weeks... and many thousands spent on gear in the prior years... I haven't fished for 3 or so years and recently picked up the rod again and started fishing down neighborhood canals...
  3. looks like my reputation precedes me
  4. south african special 6" lizards, aka Nelson Mandela Special
  5. Went out with Gambler yesterday in the afternoon. We were fishing for 5+ hours and it was rather slow. Though my last catch of the day was a nice fat mama! Probably in the 6lbs range; short and fat! M>
  6. nop i was there with 2 other adult friends, must have been someone else
  7. yea i was gonna say the same thing. i fished there before
  8. Just kidding Gamblaaaaaa! Love you man! Just been watching too much Star Trek lately http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aJCrMDl-H4
  9. Gambler takes over my honey holes, and I retreat. He steals my lures, and I do nothing. He bashes my fishing forum with his UB friends, and I turn a deaf ear. Enough is enough! The line must be drawn here! And I will make him pay for what he has done!!!! Death to Gambler!!!
  10. you just wait till tomorrow AM... there go the peacocks again
  11. as lizardcaster said, lizards are my go to bait in S. FL. t-rigged with a bullet weight, drop it to the bottom, wait, then retrieve super slow. i used to swim them faster until i conducted the following experiment: my pool has a guard fence because i have little kids. at night i like to keep the pool light on and come outside for a smoke. often i see lizards sitting on the pool fence and when one is on the inside, i would flick them into the water. what i noticed is that they thrust a lot but swim really slow. maybe 3-5 inches per second. ONCE i flicked a large one, and he actually dove down and sat underwater on the pool's wall for a while before surfacing! since then i started fishing them MUCH slower and my fishing has improved exponentially. i will drag them along the bottom at few inches per second speed. i hook a bass every few casts lately! also the colors that work great for me are black with flakes, or black/dark purple, 6" zoom's.
  12. how did you know? the first episode of "Death to Gambler" will air soon...
  13. south FL baby! All year round fishing though summers are tough for bass, so i just catch snakeheads
  14. ah yes, May, and the rest of the summer, the best time to catch bass
  15. guys, i already did some bass fishing with it in my back yard. even got a bass to look at the fly once or twice i'll probably use it once in a while, and definitely will be using it in NC next summer when I meet up with my whole family (most of them fish A LOT!). M>
  16. Gentleman, we have a problem... look what my evil brother got me for Christmas...
  17. Merry Christmas Gang!
  18. Hey guys! Yes the bearing did cause me a ton of birds nests but once i put some thin gun oil on them all the problem went away and now my chronarch casts extra 10-15 feet and all regular casts are simply effortless! anyways, i think LMG had enough silent treatment... he's taking me out on a love boat ride on lake coral springs next sunday, oh the poor cupid will run out of arrows
  19. Installed ceramic Boca Bearings in my Chronarch last night. will be giving it a try today after work... professional overrun here I come!!!!
  20. Progress has been slow (busy at work) but i've been working on one Boca Bearings, ABEC 7
  21. does your wife know about this?! speaking of... i ordered ceramic bearing for my chronarch, can't wait to see what they do...
  22. interesting, i never realized that. i think my chronarch E6 has light gray ones, and my Curado G6 has green ones. i'm to a point where i'm comfortable running 2 breaks on my chronarch plus some spool tention, though if i want max distance i release spool all the way and thumb it. in the last few months i never had an overrun due to my error (except when i hit something mid flight or clip weeds around me ). i tuned my curado and also run that on 2 breaks, but still feel like i could get more distance out of it, perhaps i'll see if i have some spare light break shoes to put into my curado. also considering putting ceramic breaks in my reels and run them dry for max distance. some canals i go to in S. FL. are really wide and have road and bank access on the side i fish, and very thick vegetation on the other where i know fish are, but i can never cast to those spots unless i REALLY swing it hard.
  23. yep! can't agree more! i've been killing them lately on green and black lizards doing exactly that! although all i catch lately are dinks
  24. Hmmmm, this gives me an idea, although not sure if this would be legal... buy some in a pet store, raise them in an aquarium and then release to the canal behind my house...
