  1. Just found that my Eagle Fishmark 320 is dead. The transducer cable frayed and he unit wouldn't work. I knw I can replace the transducer cable or around $75 but my wife doesn't know hat and I'm thinking of using this as an easy excuse to upgrade. My question is the DSI worth paying the extra $200 or should I just stay with a black/white unit that just gives me depth and identifies drop offs. Don't know much about them so any advise is appreciated. Thanks.
  2. Depends on how you like to fish. I prefer bait casters for cranks, jigs, spinner baits and a-rigs. I use the spinning reels for shakes head and Texas rigged soft plastics. A bait caster can be tricky to use at first due to the backlash ( this occurs when the reel spins faster than the line can get out. Causes your line to tangle and knot. Can be a pain to get straight). Once you use it for an outing or two you should get the hang of it. As far as the reels I love my set ups. They are as follows: Spinning: quantum smoke reel w/ BPS 6.6 mh extreme rod Quantum energy pt reel w/ BPS 6.6 m carbon lite Bait casting: quantum kvd reel w/ BPS 7 mh cranking stick BPS Rick Clunn reel/rod (no longer made) I am a fan of quantum (obviously) but I've heard the Abu garcia revo is pretty slick as well
  3. I would recommend storing your soft plastics in their original bags.....the ones they are sold in. Most of them come in re-sealable packages. I have done this for years and my plastics are fine and keep their scents. Worm binders are just that....a binder that seals with a zipper that has multiple re-sealable bags to store plastics. I have never used one but am thinking of getting one for next season. As far as rust I've never had a huge issue. I use BPS plastic storage trays....I guess just try to air out your lures before you store....if you fish saltwater....rinse your tackle with fresh water before you store.
  4. i have a 2007 toyota tacoma 6 cil 4.0 litre and i tow my 16ft slyvan alum bass boat quite frequently with no problems towing or stopping. no breaks on the trailer wither. the nissan shoul dbe very similar so im thinking you should be more than fine.
  5. trolling motor went dead......running a minn kota 45lb thrust motor and eagle fish finder off this battery. i had the bps battery and it lasted 5 years (not too bad imo). was looking at the optima marine battery for apporx $220. the bps battery is $160...........is the optima worth the difference in cost?
  6. thanks for all the responses......looks like i need to look deeper into the bps carbonlite as an option too.........heard mostly posititve things about it on this thread........any negatives?
  7. new to the site. just snapped my 6.6 MH BPS Extreme Spinning rod and need to buy a new one. looking between the abu garcia veritas and st croix mojo bass. heard the veritas snapps easy and the mojo bass is uncomfortable to handle. looking for a 6.6-7 foot M action for shakey head/texas rig. going to pair it with a quantum pt energy. any advise on one vs the other? another suggestion possbily? not looking to spend more than $100-$125. thanks.
